Course Description

Bestselling author Seth Godin is back with a breakthrough course on strategy. Marketing isn't advertising or hype or hustle, and it begins with an understanding of the systems we seek to work with. Strategy is the ability to see how things change over time, to engage with tension, to offer audiences what they seek by bringing empathy to the work. Strategy is serious, but it uses what we know about games and scarcity and time. Learning how to talk about strategy is the first step in finding a path to make a difference.

In this workshop, you'll discover a new way to engage with the market and most of all, you'll find that the way forward doesn't have to be an endless grind. Through a series of thought-provoking lessons, real-world examples, and practical exercises, Godin will guide you in developing a strategic mindset that embraces change and leverages the power of systems thinking. You'll learn how to identify opportunities, create value for your audience, and develop resilient strategies that adapt to the ever-changing landscape. Whether you're an entrepreneur, marketer, or simply someone looking to make a positive impact, this course will equip you with the tools and insights needed to navigate complexity and create meaningful change. Join Seth Godin on this transformative journey and unlock your potential to make a difference in the world.

It was really good to get a point of view on Strategy from Seth Godin. The course was engaging with numbers of good examples. It was a good segway for me as well as I have recently completed 'Project Management' course and Seth brought in number of points around decision making, assets, game theory, etc.

Here's a version in the present tense that reads naturally and avoids sounding formulaic: > I started this course because I wanted to strengthen my understanding of strategy beyond frameworks and business jargon. Seth Godin has a unique way of simplifying complex ideas while encouraging deeper thinking. Each lesson invites reflection on how we create value, serve people, and make intentional decisions over the long term. > > As I continue the course, I find myself looking at customers, positioning, and leadership through a much broader lens. The ideas complement my learning in CRM systems, customer onboarding, and customer success, and they influence how I approach my own career transition. > > This is a thoughtful course that rewards curiosity. I can already see myself returning to it as I continue to grow, because the insights become even more meaningful with experience.

In my view this course is not that much about what strategy is, but more about examples of succesful strategies and some core principles of business that should be kept in mind. In my understanding, strategy is a decision making framework. In a strategy you define the ends (a.k.a. goals) you seek to achieve, and select the means to achieve them. This definition is then used as a framework for decisions during planning and execution of projects. I was hoping to 'validate" this understanding by listening to the insights from this renowed guru. However, Seth does not really talk about strategy from this point of view. So he does not directly validate my understanding. On the other hand he does not contradict it either. But, even though the course content did not meet my expectations, it is still a good course. There are some really good insights about systems and executing projects. E.g. the "half a boat" story, and the 'throw away early" story. Seth is a great story teller. His style is a bit too American for my taste, though, with the constant name dropping (Simon Sinek is his good friend!) and self-promotion (Seth not only understood, but single-handedly applied the core Lean/agile principles already in 1983 as a 23 year-old kid and saved the company!) :-) These are minor annoyances, though. The biggest flaw (by far) of whole course is his story about Pete Caroll and the Seahawks loss in Super Bowl XLIX. You are correct, Seth, you are not very good at football stories The pass was not incomplete, it was intercepted by Malcolm Butler! And the decision to pass instead of giving the ball to "Beastmode" was definitely not "a good decision based on data". It was a horrible decision. The outcome was good, though, since Pats won! In any case, this course was good confirmation that I already understand strategy formulation and execution better than I expected. Thanks Seth!

Excellent match. This is what I need to focus on my project moving forward for life.. I have followed Seth since the Purple Cow and this is helping me with mindset and the courage to ship with stragegy. It has also reminded me to thank those who have been generous and do be the leader/encourager/vulnerable person I am called to be each and every minute of each day.

I'm loving the course so far. I was worried it would be to broad and too much of a birds eye view to be helpful to me right now, but it turns out that is resonating and providing many aha moments

Perfect match for me. I already know this course is going to be vital in a successful 2025 and beyond. Godin is amazing at changing the way we see things and that's exactly what I need right now.

Great introduction to what strategy is. Definitely enlightning and useful. However, since this is a course, I would expect there to be some learning tools, worksheets or even just some questions added to play with and answer. I'm also getting Seth's book with the same name that will hopefully dig deeper into the topic. I don't know, but wonder if this course were created to sell the book or the other way around?

A master teacher, coach, and storyteller whose approach to making decisions is once both simple and profound. I will need to use these principles to guide organizing a sea-changing project I begin next week. Is project supervision coaching available?

I love Seth. Have many of his books. Love his style. Love his simplicity. On top of this, this course matches where I am at in my journey-looking at new strategy for life, wanting to understand strategy more, and facing a shift in the game being played.

Before_ I have long wondered: Is the task of changing the world for the better reserved for certain people? After_ I have realized each time the difference between sustainability and short-term strategies. I have found solace in the milestones set up along the path I walk alone. Result_ The short length of the lectures made them less burdensome and allowed me to focus on the content. I gained the courage to say, "People like us do these kinds of things," and I believe you will resonate with this as well. I hope that through connections with people and actions, better projects around the world will achieve results. I think of this place as a refueling station that will help us move forward on our journey. Seth is love.
