Our take
Based on the ratings of 1,572 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in July 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short talk about attitude, not a how-to. The description itself calls it "more of a rant," and the syllabus backs that up: nine lectures in three sections, 1.6 hours in total, with no quizzes or exercises. Seth Godin's pitch is that people either work for AI or have it work for them, and that the ones who start building now will pull ahead. It is aimed at freelancers, entrepreneurs, project managers, artists and creators.
Reviewers mostly like Godin's way of framing things. Several say it changed how they think about AI, and one said it showed them how much time they spend on manual tasks that should be automated. Of the 1,572 ratings, 815 are five stars and 547 are four. The complaints are consistent. One reviewer wanted more practical tools, one critical reviewer missed privacy, ethics and energy use, and others found the delivery dry or the ideas familiar from his podcasts.
The Q&A section is 64 of the 94 minutes, so the core talk is much shorter than the runtime suggests. One reviewer specifically thanked Godin for those sessions. It was last updated in July 2025. As a short evening of perspective, it works. If you need to learn actual AI tools or write better prompts, pick a hands-on course instead and treat this as the motivation that comes first.
Pros
- Godin frames AI as a choice between working for it or having it work for you
- Reviewers say it changed how they see manual work that should be automated
- Only 94 minutes, and the Q&A section is the part one reviewer thanked him for
- Most of the 1,572 ratings are four or five stars, with 815 giving five
Cons
- No quizzes or exercises, and one reviewer wanted more practical tools
- One critical reviewer found privacy, ethics and energy use barely covered
- Some found it dry, or a repeat of what Godin says in his podcasts
Yes, I felt like it opened my eyes to what I am doing wrong at work and spending time on manual tasks that should be automated
Beginner level fits, since no AI knowledge is needed. Aimed at freelancers, project managers and creators.

Course Description
Seth Godin has been living on the cutting edge of media and technology for more than forty years. In this short and powerful course (more of a rant, actually) he'll share an attitude shift that's open to each of us.
AI is coming, faster than any powerful technology in human history. It's natural and appropriate to be hesitant and even fearful, but once again, this shift is going to create a gap.
Right here and right now, we each have a chance to lean into the opportunity that the change offers us.
Instead of tips and tricks, this lecture takes you through the building blocks of shifting your approach to AI.
Either you work for AI or it works for you.
And working for AI is no fun.
When the internet was new, people thought it was a sideshow. The early projects weren't of much import, but as it became clear that something real was happening, sites like Amazon, Yahoo and Google arrived. All of these were tiny at first, just a few people chasing a big idea.
AI is more decentralized than this. You don't need venture capital or a building or a team. All that's needed is access to tools (which is already happening--if you can read this you already have the tools) and a shift in our attitude.
That's where this course comes in. All the courses in the world about the tactics and tech of AI are worthless if we're not ready to embrace the change that they bring.
There's a very brief window of time. In this moment, right here and right now, some folks are eagerly starting projects, building assets and creating values. Others, in a pattern we've seen again and again, are waiting, fearfully, ignoring what's happening and hoping for the best.
You can do this. Right here, right now. Make a ruckus.

Great perspective and Seth Godin is so smart and thoughtful and knows so much more than me, he gave me new ways to approach AI and my life with AI in it. I do wish there's been a *bit* more practical tools - like his tips on how to get better in five days. That's why 1/2 star is gone.

As always, with anything from Seth Godin, there have already been some key insights shared. I suspect by the time I finish this course, my rating will move to five stars. This is really good stuff. I will compare it against another AI course if there’s another opportunity to rate at the conclusion, which I hope there will be.

Yes, a good match. I recently took an introductory AI course at a community college and this was a good piggy-back to that. I'm 77 and retired but think that AI has so much upside that I ought to learn more about it. Some of the tech speak in the Q & A was beyond me. I'm not a techie but that's ok. One big take-away from this course is that if I don't understand something, ask AI. Thanks!

Absolutely, I'm a solopreneur designer who uses AI everyday. The entire work landscape is changing and I'm very interested in learning how to navigate forward. I know it's vital for my work, but I'm not sure how to monetize with it yet. Thank you for this! -Loren

This is a very good course to get you thinking about AI as a tool. I am a creative but in apparel merchandising and sales. I am trying to figure out how to use AI to increase my value to my customers and to gain other customers while offering the same kind of personal touch to what I all ready provide identifying what they are missing and filling those needs.

Seth does what Seth does best: he reframes the conversation. Instead of obsessing over tools, he zooms out and asks the more important question — who are you going to be in this shift? I’ve been using AI for a couple of years now, but I was slower to fully embrace it. Cautious. Watching. My sister kept nudging me. Seth delivered that same nudge — this time with a couple of clear challenges to actually use the tools, not just think about them. This course feels less like a tutorial and more like a loving shove. The reminder that you either work for AI or it works for you landed. Don’t be the person who waited.

A lot left on the table about privacy, as well as AI psychosis and ethics (what are we contributing to by feeding an LLM everything about ourselves), and energy consumption connected to climate change, which is only mentioned in the speed round of the final video and not connected to LLMs. I love Seth and have been following him for years, so I guess I was expecting a lot more. I have been using AI a lot over the last few years, multiple LLMs and now agents, and so far, I have found it makes more of a mess than it's helpful. I do see a path toward it being very helpful, but as far as I can tell, we ain't there yet. Maybe it's because this course is almost a year old, it feels totally outdated compared to where we are at now, but if I had paid for this, I would have expected my money back. Great for super basics, but I was expecting a deep dive, hard to call this a course.

I've been waiting to hear Seth Godin explicitly address AI. This is what I have been longing for. Someone who has been through waves of change like this who gives the alternative, not overly optimistic perspective, but the perspective that is grounded in the choice we can make moving forward. As someone whose profession is going to radically shift, software engineering, this is incredibly helpful to me

I've been following Seth's blog for years and I trust his perspective on how to look at AI. In fact, it has me thinking about how I can use AI to be able to ask Seth Godin questions about my ideas. What would Seth Godin say about... love it!
