Great course so far. Just the right amount of detail so as to not be too boring, while providing adequate detail to understand the sections.

Lori Jill knows her material and presents it very well. There is a lot of information presented and I'm taking my time absorbing it. The subject is very thoroughly demonstrated and explained with a lot of detail. I've learned a lot of technique from this course.

its very good, but out of date for photoshop cc

Much of the material was dated. In particular when the instructor covered brushes and tool presets, it did not match what I was seeing with Photoshop 2020 CC. It made it very difficult to follow. Also, it seemed like the instructor was no longer active with this course. She covered particular brushes when she was painting the girl with the red hair, but I was a little lost on the different brushes she used. She showed how to upload pictures on Udemy, but it looks like you can't do that anymore. It would have been great for the instructor to provide critique. Not having direct access to the instructor is frustrating when you have questions. I asked several questions and never got answers. There was some good content that made it worth my time.

The course needs to be. updated for more recent versions of Photoshop. The brush tools presets are now completely different and it's impossible to follow the course materials. I have to emphasize that point. I've had to go out to You Tube to find other tutorials to help to find how to work with brushes because she's using an antique version of photoshop.

This course was created in 2014 so the Photoshop brush engine has changed. Brush Preset is no longer support and Tool Preset for brush is also no longer supported even though there is a way to save often-used brushes to Tool Preset. Despite those drawbacks, the rest of the tutorial still applies. You need to deal with the challenge to find out what are missing features in the your current photoshop version versus what the teacher is demonstrating. The course is so interesting.

This course is only good for the version of software she used in developing the course. It is very frustrating in using the current version of Photoshop 2020 that what she describes is not how the current version works. In the beginning of the course, I thought it was worth getting the concepts and then figuring out where everything is later. Once she got to the cloning section, there was no hope. I've googled to figure out how to make that work in the current version and it is not clear to me. The reason to purchase a course like this is to make it a little easier. I wish the description would have been more clear that if you are using current versions, don't bother purchasing this because most of it won't work for you. Perhaps at the time it was developed, it was a great course. I have taken other Udemy courses that provided updates with each new version of the software. That would be helpful here.

I've been trying a variety of painting applications and methods, and I really like Lori Jill's approach. Her teaching method is clear and easy to understand. I highly recommend her courses here on Udemy.
