Course Description

Create high-quality games without a single line of code

If you are looking for a fast and powerful visual scripting system that can create any game you want, Unreal Engine Blueprints is your go to programming language. Use the same tools and principles AAA studios use in their Unreal Blueprint projects to create high-quality games. Everything is free.

Jump right into game creation with Unreal Engine 5 Blueprints

The beauty about Blueprint visual scripting is that it allows you to jump right into game creation, and gives you a great entry to game development, but at the same time can be a standalone as the case for many professionals. Game designers and artist use Unreal Blueprints to showcase their animations, user interfaces, and audio. Programmers and game developers use Blueprints to code whole games or prototypes, but can also be used in addition to C++.

By the end of this course, you will have learned the fundamentals of Unreal Engine 5 blueprints and coded a small platformer game with easy follow-along videos. You will be able to use what you have learned in character creation, movement, collision, spawn points, and level changes in your own UE5 Blueprint game project.

My name is Moustafa and I am the director and developer of Farmtale on Steam done only on Blueprints. With many years of experience within game development, I will be here for you every step of the way.

This course covers all you need to know about UE5 Blueprints to code your first game, including:

  • Variables

  • Events, functions, and macros

  • Arrays

  • Execution flow

  • Enumeration

  • Blueprint actors, classes, and communication

Learn the best coding practice from a published Unreal Blueprint game developer

All code is not equal. There are many ways to develop games, some better for performance than others. Some code might even break. I will show you how to use different optimization tools to achieve game-ready performance.

It was good, especially for anyone wanting to create games, my interest is more about architural visualisation, and using Blueprints for materials, portals and putting Building Information Modelling data on the screen when users are interrogating the buildings. It was really good to start with the basics and understand the use of the different Variables, Functions etc and BP Classes. Thank you :)

Really helped me understand how to convert what I know from C# into blueprints, explains how to do most basic things like functions and variables but more advanced stuff like interfaces and blueprint communication. If you know nothing it is a good start, but if you know some other language and want to know how to take what you know and learn to use it in blueprints I would recommend this one.

Doing this review half way through, so far so good! Excellent work! Things are very well explained. I believe if the instructor highlighted terms and references gamers with no scripting or eventing language could understand; Example: When talking about Multiple Branches, if he had mentioned it could be used to program combo attacks in a game, I think the lesson would've hit home even more!

Another amazing course, I learned a lot and my brain is getting more and more clear about how UE thinks. I also appreciate that you are caring about optimizing the code by using blueprint interfaces. It's not the easiest thing to understand but I've heard of the trouble that too many hard references can cause. Everything was very well explained, clear and efficient, to the point, and super helpful! Thank you!

I really enjoyed progressing through this course! I did not know much at all about Blueprints, only a little bit back in UE3 from when it was called Kismet! After completing the course, I am very proud to say that I know how to perform some very interesting things using Blueprints :) I can't wait to dive even deeper and learn more advanced methods. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this course! I will definitely take a look at other Pixel Helmet courses.

Another great tutorial with added information and tidbits that go unsaid or uncovered in similar tutorials. I believe that as viewers, the responsibility lies with us to seek out information from multiple sources. Your tutorials are short and to the point. I enjoy this and hope that you continue this trend. I've read how others feel that some things need to be covered with more depth. I feel that could be true about anything. But the key is that this is a course for Beginners, and you never want to overload beginners with too much information that discourages them. You're trying to feed their curiosity not answer all the questions they have and will have when taking this journey. Funny enough, this course answers a lot of those questions. What's more, the instructor gives you insight on Game Development from someone who has seen the process through from start to finish. I hope to be at that level one day. This tutorial is an essential piece in making that happen. Thank you! I look forward to more content from you, Sir.

The teacher is very knowledgable and knows Unreal inside out. I would that he could slow down a bit for us begenners. Also, take the time to slowly explain some topics in detail like Blueprint Interfaces, and custom game modes. Not just a quick explanation, but take the time to break those topics down in a few sections. But otherwise the course is worth the money, and you'll have a better understanding of how Unreal Engine works. You'll also appreciate the time and effort you need to invest into learning this program. the teacher is loud and clear, easy to understand. I took notes, and will have to go over some of the course material.

This is a more thorough course than many of the beginner tutorials you'll watch on YouTube. The creator does a great job of taking me through everything I need to know. He is, to some degree, concise. However, there are some things that really irritate me. First off, the teacher continues to remark, "I don't want to make this video any longer..." Listen guy, I paid $15 for the course (normal price is $80); I expect you to take as long as it takes to explain the information in a concise way. I paid for the course, so you should never dictate exactly HOW long your video should be. Or, more precisely, you should not be timing yourself to leave something out for the sake of time. As an example, the creator of this course explained that a label in a FORMAT TEXT should be labeled the same as the label in the variable he created, yet he didn't explain why. As a beginner, I need the WHYs starting out. Was he concerned with time? It would've taken roughly 1 minute to explain why the labels need to be the same. Moreover, as I'm assuming he was using a convention similar to tags, it would have been a great teaching opportunity to explain both labels and tags as different means to the same end (there are after all innumerable ways to code. But no! All I got was "Attach this to this and make sure this is the same name as this." Come on! I PAID FOR THIS COURSE! Luckily, I only paid $15. And secondly, why are there no projects at the end of each segment that we, as the beginner students, can work on and practice. At the end of one segment this guy basically says that we'll be coding our own game and we need to practice the what we just learned on our own. Um...ok. But, you know what? He could have easily designed a couple of projects for us and let us work on them on our own time before moving on. WE'RE BEGINNERS! REMEMBER? Truth told, I am getting a lot out of this course and I WOULD recommend it to someone who'd just starting out in UE5 and who has never worked with Blueprints. So, overall, I have so far given the course and the instructor 4 out of 5 stars. I hope the instructor reads this and contemplates making some changes the next time he creates a beginner course. Some advice? SLOW DOWN! I am in no hurry to trudge through a long video. In fact, if it is necessary to do so, I prefer it. Consider making more than one episode out of one subject to allow the information to sink in to the student. ;)

While the course did a good job on covering the basics, the present seemed to forget that some people need a slower pace for learning. Many sections were one thing after another with very little pause to help viewers catch up, requiring plenty of rewinding and pause the video. The final game wasn't all that enjoyable to make, making it pretty uninteresting, but it got the job down by hammering home the basics, once again.
