Course Description
Today, we're going to learn about UX/UI Design Principles.
When looking at UI Design, we can usually tell which design works better, but when you start working on your own designs, it's suddenly not that easy anymore.
What is the secret behind a smooth process and perfect distribution that seems so pleasing to us?
In under two hours, I will show you the UX/UI Design principles and what, how, and why they make a difference.
In this course, I combine theory concepts, real-life examples, and final practical exercises to make sure it's not just theory but a skill you can apply to your wireframes web and app designs right away. However, please be aware that this is an overall theory class!
This course is divided into two parts:
Part 1: Principles of User Experience Design
In the first part, we will dive into UX Design principles, this will be loosely based on the Nielsen Heuristics:
Real-world references, mental models, and how to use them
Jakob's Law - why other pages are important to your own
Consistency is key
Hick's Law - working with choice and limitation
The magic number is 4 !
Common page positioning & scanning patterns
Feedback and system status
Error prevention
Error handling
A word on dopamine & ethical design
EXERCISE(+Figma File)--> We are building a wireframe with Figma!
Part 2: Principles of User Interface Design
In the second part, we will learn about UX Design Principles. This part is mainly based on Gestalt Theory:
Aesthetic-Usability Effect – Why even bother?
What is Visual Hierarchy?
Law of Prägnanz – Simplicity is key!
Law of Similarity – use colour, size, and shape to create a design system
A little more on text- and touch target size
Law of Proximity – Spacing systems and grids
Law of Common Region – Creating sections and adding structure to your layout
Von Restorff Effect – Drawing attention where you need it
Law of Common Fate – Behavioural prediction
Visceral reaction – Emotion in your design
EXERCISE(+Figma File)--> We are transforming a wireframe to UI Design with Figma.
Part 3: A few little extras
As a little gift, here are some extras from my other courses to dive a little deeper into some of the subjects we have touched. Enjoy!
This course is for you if you're new to UX design, want to brush up on your skills.

I’m Christine Vallaure, founder of moonlearning. I run it as a deliberate solo business. Supported by smart automation and AI, but deeply human at its core. Every course is crafted and taught by me.
I’ve spent 15+ years in design and product. Agencies, startups, global brands, and my own products. I’ve been excited, stuck, overwhelmed, and back at square one more than once. Tools move fast. Expectations grow. It’s easy to feel like you’re always catching up.
What changed things for me wasn’t learning every new feature. It was understanding what’s happening under the hood. Not to become an engineer, but to design with clarity and control.
That’s what I teach. Practical skills that help you move faster without losing craft.

One of the greatest courses out there. Bite-sized knowledge with summaries, pragmatic, backed up with real life examples, great storytelling. It's perfect to get you started in the right direction or to tidy up your knowledge. It's a really awesome material that creates a solid fundamentals for designers to fall back to. Pleasant voice to listen as well. Thank you for creating great content < 3

Amazing course! It is well structured and everything is explained very clearly. I recently completed a Google UX course as well as a Figma course here on Udemy but still struggled with some really practical stuff like spacing and sizing and really applying some of the rules I learned about. I feel much more confident after completing this UX/UI Principles course. And it's a course I can see myself coming back to for reference which is super useful. At first I was a little hesitant about buying it as it is shorter than most courses on Udemy but it is just perfect. I fully recommend it!

I really enjoyed this course! It was detailed, easy to follow, and taught me so much about UI/UX design principles, including best practices and heuristic rules. The lessons were very well structured and informative. I feel much more confident in my design skills now. Highly recommend!

This UI/UX course offers a clear and concise introduction to essential design principles. It covers key concepts like user experience, visual hierarchy, and design consistency, combining theory with real-life examples and practical exercises. Perfect for beginners looking to apply these principles to their designs.

An in-depth course on the UI design field, showcasing the most important theory and laws of digital design, as well as many practical tips! I believe this course is a very good foundation and introduction to UI design. The tutor's voice is really relaxing, not tiring at all, her english is clear, and the summaries in the end of every video are really nice. Highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn the theory and the science behind UI design. Only thing I would add it for Udemy to correct the english subs, as there are many incorrect words.

The course is really neatly divided in different sections, and each topic is in it's own separate small video. which makes it really easy to watch and not too overwhelming. all the difficult stuff is made simple enough to understand for beginners. overall the course does a really good job to give you good foundation to start your UI/UX journey. But i would suggest that the exercise at the end of the sections could also be divided in small parts. it would make it easy to understand if all the laws and principles learned could be implemented right after they are taught . instead of end of the entire section. Thank you!

everything is good and had fun learning something new with Christine. there's only one thing the downside of this class, the subtitle doesnt allign with what Christine says. something example like "about" = "above". to be honest I'm really confused.

The theories in videos are really helpful to understand how to make my project. it is really great lectures. subtitles are not perfect so i hope Udemy have to fix subtitles as correctly. Thank you for make great cheap lectures. Actually I had learned about UIUX design in my college 5yrs ago. In my opinion, this Udemy lectures are much easier to understand than lectures that i had learned in college. I really recommend lectures if you want to learn UIUX theories. bbbbbb good good. Danke.
