Really practical! Help me so much as a new producer

By Tim Shipp on 10/24/2020

Very easy to understand! I've been using Serum for over 2 years and the way that I've been slowly learning is reverse engineering presets. But now I'm feeling a lot more comfortable with this plug-in! Thanks guys!

If it weren't for the instructors, I likely wouldn't have known that Serum exists! I started this course not knowing what affects what, or how. After completing the course, I'm confident enough to make my own sounds from scratch. Among the many possibilities, is a sound that cycles through the wavetable layers to achieve a custom arpeggiation. Well structured, and incredibly useful course!

By Charles on 9/25/2020

This was not a sound design class at all but just a basic over view of Serum. I would not recommend this course as there are better sound design courses and Serum courses.

By Adam Conev on 9/20/2020

Sometimes I would personally welcome more practical examples (for example FX section) - use of those effects in some musical ideas (2-4 bar chord progression, loop, or something). Listening to arpeggiated g minor chord for hour was a little too much and annoying. Overall the course was fine, especially oscillators section. Lot of nice informations.

I apreciate the fact that there are subtitles ! The person is very calm and the pace is just perfect it makes something complicated very simple !

By Thomas Tiedemann on 9/1/2020

This course seems very much not for any skill level, but for beginners. The information given by the instructor was surface level at best, pretty disappointing when as an intermediate user looking for more advanced sound design tips.

It is really useful and makes me understand really well

By Ella Lyons on 8/16/2020

Great course for anyone trying to understand Serum. This course has given me a a great overview of the different options and what they do. The instructors are easy to listen to and provide lots of helpful tips.

By Kalin Katev on 8/2/2020

This course is mostly about showcasing the different aspects of Serum, as listed in the course content. The authors explain the features of Serum well, consequently going step by step through oscillators, wavetable editing, etc.
However, we never get to create a fully developed sound. While showcasing Serum's features is in of itself important, sound design is more than just the sum of Serum's components. There are many (free) videos online that explain what the EQ, Phaser, Wavetables etc. are, but not so many that really explain how to develop your sound.
The music production aspect of the course, as written in the title, is not expanded upon - and this is my biggest complaint about the course. It's a misleading title. Music production implies creating a track, or integrating a Serum synth into a given track and modelling its sound to fit into it. This is what would make this course really special.

By Jonathan Scott on 8/1/2020

So far the effects portion is at least somewhat informative with good examples but I learned nothing new about serum. The first half of the course has been far too basic. I was expecting some examples of how to build good basses or leads not just showing you the basic stuff you can easily figure out yourself. Not impressed with this course so far, but the effects section has at least SOME promise.
Edit - Not sure how to DM so I'll just reply here. Like I said in my original post, I would like more examples on how to build sounds. Build a lead, a bass and a pad to give ideas HOW to use the synth
