"What an amazing course! After finishing this course, I have confidence. Thank so much Dr Peter Alkema" ... "This is exactly the jump-start I needed. Very clear and concise"
I lead Digital Transformation & Architecture at ABB and I've been featured on CNBC Africa and won the Gartner CIO Of The Year in 2016. I founded and led the largest banking hackathon in South Africa which was published in 2019 as a case study by Harvard Business School.
I've taught over 100,000 students about technology, business, academics and self-development. In 2020 I completed my PhD at Wits University In Johannesburg. The study introduced a ground-breaking theory of Agile software development teams. My woodworking book was published in 2014 and has sold over 10,000 copies.
Olugbenga Gbadegesin: "Excellent delivery" / Lebogang Tswelapele: "This is what I have been longing for" / Paskalia Ndapandula: "Peter speaks with so much clarity" / Amantle Mangwedi: "It was straight to the point and the sections are cut into nice short segments which made it easier to go through" Kathy Bermudez: "Excellent material. Well organized..."
Werner van Wyk: "Thank you Peter, once again your lesson and course have given me so much knowledge and understanding" / Yvonne Rudolph "I really look forward to take everything i learned in action" / Josephine Mahlangu: "exactly what I needed to know, absolutely valuable and helpful for my personal growth"

This will be a good start to my review of material that I learned many years ago, but haven't proacticed over time.

Explained very well and easy to understand the concepts and comparisons help tremendously, such as showing that perfect square and square roots are opposites, like addition is to subtraction and multiplication is to division. Also, reminding us to not make this common mistake of multiplying a square root number by the exponent instead to itself. I've done this in the past. Thank you.

It would have been a 5 if it wasn't for the 2 quizzes. I am all up for quizzes to test knowledge, but each had 120 questions! most were very repetitive asking stupid things like ' what does the instructor think about motivation' etc rather than a test on knowledge. 1 of the questions did not even have the correct answer available for a sum. Question 28 second quiz if the course person is reading comments. Even checked with GPT after to make sure I wasn't mistaken. There is also very little to no content on variables yet lots of questions in the quiz about variables. Would be good if this could be added. Those negatives aside, it was really simple and easy to follow and I did learn a lot. I am 43, not done maths since school and looking to learn about Ai and a little coding. I got stuck on a course due to my lack of math knowledge and this will 100% help. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting an entry level or refresher course.

it was kind of boring, but I hope it gets more fun once I start learning, and also, just a suggestion, you should have a Pre-Algebra course.
By JENNIFER TRACEY on 4/17/2025
It reminded me why I excelled in math and algebra - it's because I enjoyed the challenge. Very clear explanations and support throughout was very helpful.
By Mary Spell on 3/18/2025
It was a good refresher, but the 114 question quizzes don't have many math problems to test what was learned. "What did the instructor discuss in this section?" is a pointless question during a final course quiz.
