I will slowly and fully explain how to start using Zbrush, how to navigate the interface. The variuos things you need to know to model a head, horns, torso, armors, sword and even a cape, all in Zubrush. While we are working on our character, we will learn how to work with the most important Zbrush functions. I will not make this super complicated by going through everything in Zbrush. I will show you only the things you really need to know to make a fully finished high poly character.
We will start by getting familiar with the basic interface and navigation in Zbrush. After that I will show you how to customize your workflow to work much faster again in Zbrush.
Then we will start the character from sphere, I will guide you through the process of starting your sculpt and add new elements to it, like horns, arms and body. After that we will create, and adjust the armor. Then we will create the legs and refine the arms. We will go trough the process of making the cape, and also add spikes to the armor. After that i will show you how to make a hard surface object in Zbrush, fast and efficient by making the sword. Then you will learn how to add details on your model so it will look much more appealing. We will also paint the model so it will have better presentation. Following will be a breaf intro to posing the character, until it is time to go trough materials and light in Zbrush. After we apply and are happy with our materials and light setup, we can start rendering the character with Zbrush and then combining the passes in Photoshop, to achieve a professional look.

I have interest in arts since i was a very little kid. I was drawing all the time at school and at home. I was barely going out to play with the other kids, and later go to night clubs. Drawing and books were my passions. Later i became a Graphic Designer and then i was 3D character artist at Gameloft for 15 years. I have more than 10 years of experience with Zbrush, but now i use the amazing free software Blender and make courses and characters with its help.

Pretty good course, a bit confusing and too repetitive at times but overall it’s a good introduction to ZBrush to get right away the hang of it without going too deep into unnecessary functions that could scare beginners. Recommend

I am Korean. I don't know English so I use subtitles. The translation of the subtitles in the video is the worst. I don't understand the subtitles in the video. But the overall flow of the video was very helpful.

This is an Amazing course! teaches a ton of things. The thing I really love is the pacing and watching my 3d model becoming just as good as the instructors. I also feel like i'm learning the interface really well too in which i'm able to do some modeling on my own. this course is a must buy for anyone that wants to learn. make sure you add Nick's YT channel "Speedchar" where you get to watch him do sculpts in blender aswell.

This course is so good and detailed. I enjoy the way Nicola teaches and explains stuff, it almost feel like a buddy of mine is teaching me a new trick. I've been following him for a while and I've re-watch this course every time I take a long break from Zbrush and come back. I am on my third go with it and some times I just watch it to see what he is doing and keep gaining skills and muscle memory on my 3d sculpting journey. I also suggest you check out the sculpting in blender ones also.

Was an amazing course and taught at a great pace. Really enjoyed how casual the course was and how he continued explaining hotkeys, shortcuts and what he was doing as it progressed. I'm not always able to sit down for days at a time so it was nice to have reminders when I jumped back in. Thanks Nikolay it was a great course and I look forward to completing more from you!

I am writing this review a few months after taking the course. I originally wrote a good review but now I want to change it so that future students have an idea of what they are buying. The main disadvantage of this course is that the teacher just tells what to do but does not explain why it should be done. Despite the fact that the course description says that this course only covers the basics, these basics still need to be explained. Because without understanding the techniques, you cannot apply them. For example, in this course, the author uses the workflow: dynamesh - zremesh - subdivide for some parts of the character, but he does not explain what the meaning of this workflow is and why it is used. I was sculpting high poly models for months using only dynamesh, and didn't understand why I couldn't achieve the desired result. It turns out it was necessary to use zremesh and a subdivisions. I don't recommend buying this course, it's done in a hurry and there are a lot of gaps in it. It is better to buy a more complete and complex course than to spend time on this one, because after you finish it you still have to buy another one to fill in the knowledge gaps. Some youtube videos are more informative than this course (eg J Hill if you want get into character design).

I only came for the sculpting portion of this course, and boy is it 100% nicely paced, easy to follow, and intuitive. Although I took a break from the course and came back, I feel like this is an extremely excellent approach to starting out and understanding the basics of using the tools ZBrush has to offer. One of the major pitfalls I had in my endeavor was in the creation of the sword, I feel like the start of it could've used a bit more explanation about how masking affects vertices while low poly modeling, however, I figured it out. But overall, this is the beginners course, I can't wait to see what the intermediate courses have to offer!

Not very good resolution of the video though but good explanation

There is a lot of back and forth, we will learn this, no we won't, actually we will. I was struggling to work out what he is doing. Mentioning stuff that will be in another video. Seems pretty disorganised.

Very good tutorial! If you follow it to the end, you are allowed to say you are not a beginner anymore. Still have a lot to learn, but you really have a grasp on the basics.

Can't say anything just yet......

First lesson was good. I made an alien space craft, once i figured out how to use the brushes, and from a basic understanding I will be able to start sculpting in under 25 minutes. Also gives you the basics you need to get started really quickly.
