Course Description

Hi guys, this time i will cut directly to the point and tell you that this will be the character we will do in this Blender course. What a surprise, right?:)

But what you may not know is that the whole process is recorded in real time and with constant narration by me.

So now you probably will ask, who are you? And you will be right to do so!

My name is Niko, and i am a 3D character artist and tutor, still working in a game industry since 2007. I have more than 13 000 students with my courses of 3d character creation and anatomy

.

In this intermediate Blender 3D character creation course we will go trough the process of creating a slightly stylized female character with armour and 3d print ready hair, pose her, make some materials and lights and render an image and turntable video for your portfolio. There will be lots of female face and body anatomy tips and most common mistakes too.

The nice concept is an art by Mikhail Palamarchuk.

We will begin by making two female heads, where i will explain the proportions, forms, shapes, anatomy and most common beginner mistakes. We will then chose the best looking of the two heads and will continue with making the base hair shape. Then we will start the torso and i will explain how the shapes work in the female body. Next we will go trough the creation of nice legs and arms for our huntress, and refining the whole body before starting the armor. We will use heavily QuadRemesher add-on for Blender in this course, which will help us make our armor pieces pretty quickly. We will extract, adjust, remesh, make thickness and all those things again and again until we have our armor with all it's details ready.

We will then refine the hair with some smartly placed curves, and jump to material creation. Creating the metal material will not be an easy task, but we will definitely do a decent job :).  Then will be the time to do the demon huntress weapon - the sword and the tentacles below it.

Following will be rigging the character with armature and you will see how easy it is. But then we will have some issues with the rig which we will successfully overcome and head to the posing of our huntress. After, will be time to do more adjustments to some elements of the pose and some materials and lights.

I will show you how to render a still image and how to render a transparent video from Blender to use in After effects.

This course is for intermediate Blender users, but if you are a very ambitious beginner you can try it as well :). Although i will recommend for you to watch my Absolute Beginners 3D character in Blender course first, and then get back to this one :).

I will use QuadRemesher a lot in this course which is the only paid add-on i have in Blender. I use it in all my work and freelance characters. It has one month free trial so you can do the course with no problem just with the trial version and then decide if it is worth the money :).

So if making a nice looking female character with armour, sword and pose in Blender sounds like your thing, then you probably would want to check out this course :).

I have interest in arts since i was a very little kid. I was drawing all the time at school and at home. I was barely going out to play with the other kids, and later go to night clubs. Drawing and books were my passions. Later i became a Graphic Designer and then i was 3D character artist at Gameloft for 15 years. I have more than 10 years of experience with Zbrush, but now i use the amazing free software Blender and make courses and characters with its help.

Nikko gives you a lot of information about anatomy for sculptors. I've been an artist all my life and a lot of the stuff he points out is new to me. He's also very funny. I did part of his Zbrush course Girl and dog before.

The course was amazing, I didn't have much expectations because of previous experiences doing other (unrelated with 3D) online courses but this one was relatively good ;), both in quality of the content and also the teacher. Niko was very entertained to listen to and that definitely played a huge role in digesting all the information and lessons he was sharing. I totally reccommend this course.

Here you will get great experience for sculpting from a very charming teacher. Niko shows a lot of details and gives advices how to achieve it. Some of them is easy to follow, because Niko shows you an understandable way to get there. The topic itself is a huge one and requires alot of practice, what reflects the time of the course. I enjoyed it very much and would recommend to get the course even for beginners like me. Big thanks to Niko for sharing his experience with us!

Whilst the course was good and taught me some really good anatomy at the begining, I strongly feel the course could've been streamlined. There is too much filler of the teacher doing small adjustments which feels constricting and barely teaches anything. 40 mins for a section is ridiculously long specially when most of it is unedited footage. 15-20 mins with the same amount of lessons would be far more efficient and better for the course quality.

I really like the art style of the instructor, so the course already serves as great inspiration and motivation to learn and become a better artist. For this course, I like in particular that multiple facets of 3D model making are addressed, including the sculpting and retopology phase. The retopology part is a crucial step to prepare the model for usage in animation, for example in games. Also, I'm very happy this is all possible in Blender. I'm looking forward to future courses of this instructor, in Blender of course! ;-)

It's not a bad course but it's more of a walktrough. Instructor is pretty knowlgable and is giving good starting anatomy tips and workflows. But all the hard-surface stuff is made by one technique and with no timelapse so you ending up watching all the same again and again. It could be 5-10hrs shorter with the timelapse segments. But I totaly recomend it if you want to see every detail made in realtime.

Nikolay is amazing. Great teacher, explains concepts in a simple manner and gives very practical instruction. I've learned so much more than I thought I would from a course and have improved greatly since starting it. Also, I like to go back and review previous sections as I always find new stuff I missed the first time around. He's a funny guy too which helps keep the content fresh.

This course it's great, I've learned a lot about anatomy and especially what are the common mistakes on sculpting a female head/body and how to spot and fix them. I'm still a beginner on 3D sculpting, but I've been coming back to this course since I started it a few months ago. Every time I watch it I learn something new. And not only I recommend this course, but also his Youtube channel "Speedchar".

This is exactly how a well-done sculpting course should be done. Niko goes into the smallest details to ensure that you, as the student, get as much insight and experience as you can. Even when he gets into some issues (technical Blender issues, for example), he'll show you the process of how he fixes it. You really do get a complete overview of a professional sculptor's workflow. 5-stars, really recommended.

Love this guy. An amazing artist and an excellent instructor. I would like to say that he has an uncanny ability to effectively bridge the gap between his knowledge and skill level to yours. You can also tell that he puts in a lot of hard work and preparation to make each lesson seem effortless and fun. I recommend you buy this course, then go find the rest of NIkolay's courses and purchase those as well. You won't regret it.
