Our take
Based on the ratings of 505 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in June 2019. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a three hour intro to the Linux command line, split into 59 lectures across nine sections. Most of it covers navigation, files and folders, text files, users, killing programs and keyboard shortcuts. Only the last section, about 90 minutes, gets into Bash scripting itself. The sales page talks about application and network programming, but the syllabus shows nothing like that. Think of it as a command line primer with a short scripting taste at the end, not a programming course.
The people who liked it are mostly true beginners. They praise the clear delivery, the new commands they picked up, and the shortcuts and tricks. The complaints cluster around the scripting part. One reviewer wanted more explanation of loops and arrays. Another says Frahaan Hussain brought up the let command without saying what it does. Others mention demos that hit errors, a feeling of improvising on camera, and no coverage of grep. Several call it very basic, material that is easy to find free online.
About two thirds of the 505 reviews are four or five stars, and the course sits at 4.3 overall. It was last updated in June 2019, which matters less for basic commands than it would for most tech topics. For a first look at the terminal, it does the job and doesn't take long. Anyone who wants to write scripts for real work will outgrow it quickly and should look for something deeper.
Pros
- Easy to follow for beginners, including reviewers with no coding background
- Lots of shortcuts and terminal tricks that reviewers single out as useful
- Nine short sections and about three hours, so it is quick to finish
- Reviewers say they picked up commands they did not know before
Cons
- Scripting section is thin and skips explanations of loops, arrays and the let command
- Some demos hit errors or feel unrehearsed, which confused a few reviewers
- Last updated in 2019, and the description promises more than the syllabus delivers
Really good course if you want to get familiar with the Linux OS. I found many new commands after going through this course which i did not knew before. Awesome course for beginners in Linux.
Suits true beginners. The All Levels tag is generous, since several reviewers call the content very basic.

it is a very very basic course, good fo those who are starting learning bash scripting. Do not expect high difficult level or how to code in bash.
By J Y on 11/26/2020
The course was quite good in giving a quick rundown of all the key features of bash to beginners like myself who have no coding background. I also treasure the many useful tips especially the shortcuts and tricks to get myself up to speed in learning when navigating inside the bash environment. I believe the area of improvement would be the bash section, where i would appreciate if further more explanation can be provided when coming across critical concepts like loops and arrays, particularly when on some demo they involved a mix of other key commands with variation/syntax not discussed in the other lecture videos.

Useful tips and tricks, plenty of shortcuts. Many of them, so you need to practice now to remember it.

La parte de terminal de Linux y sus comando es muy basica y no tiene los ejemplos suficientes, el curso es muy muy BÁSICO, por lo que no creo que sea una guía completa, solo es la puntita de la puntita.
By Richard Amies on 9/26/2019
Great. Started out very simple but progressed on to far more relevant detail, which I guess is how it ought to be. I've used Linux for over 20 years and picked up a few things I'd never encountered. One thing to note - on one of the early tests, the question about the touch command is misleading. It will both touch(change the timestamp to the present) a file if it exists, else create a file if not already present. It's wrong to only accept the answer of create a file. But a very worthwhile spend of time.

Its very basic information how different bash scripting methods work, but its lack of real life and work examples with scripting (editing file name by date in example and etc.)

Really great course! Everything was explained in an easy to understand manner and great examples were given for each concept.

The shortcuts taught are very interesting and didn't know you could do that. The beginning I already knew, but definitely not chapter 8
