Course Description
Are you working on projects that just don’t make a difference in your organization?
The problem is that business cases are being done wrong… and it’s up to you to fix it.
The best Business Analysts are able to take a problem, find a solution, develop a project proposal, and promote its business case to senior management. And that's what this course enables you to do.
In this intermediate-level course, we’ll cover the role the business case plays in enterprise project selection and funding. We’ll start with the organization’s goals, trace down to the strategies that aim to deliver those goals, and then the projects that execute those strategies.
We’ll then focus on the full scope of analysis methods used to develop problems into solutions, analyze the financial and intangible costs and benefits of the solutions, and choose the solution that will best meet the needs of the enterprise.
From there, we’ll move on to documenting business cases. And it’s not just filling out a template. This course gives you a method for crafting proposals in the most compelling way possible and developing the supplemental documentation you need to set you up for success.
But documentation will only take your project idea so far. It’s then up to us to promote the idea to management, and the course gives you a rational, non-salesy, and compelling way to do this.
We’ll then wrap up with a final insight (that might surprise you).
Take ownership and control of your projects, by developing the influence you need to execute the right projects in the first place. Enroll now.

Upon completing Don’s Fundamental course, my mentor recommended that I take this intermediate-level course. Since I haven't had hands-on experience in business analysis yet, much of what was discussed felt conceptual. Still, I could imagine how these concepts would apply if I were onsite as a BA.

The course has helped me shed light on a lot of concepts I interact with daily, regardless of the environment. It is of course strongly business oriented, however the concepts are so well explained that it is easy to find day to day examples where these are applicable. It provides a framework for looking at problems and coming up with solutions, as well as illustrating effective ways to follow through on implementing those solutions. It also brings up the impact of communication and provides ways to improve communication in order to ensure achieving goals.

It was a great course, he gave the excellent tips to craft a great Business cases and he focused in the main part of it, the cost-benefit analysis. I think that he could give more tips to elaborate a good definition problem, use the decision table and more examples. Thank for you experience shared

I think this course is very helpful but I missed the part where I can identify the Problem when being an IT BA and you gotta meet with an external Client/Company to understand the issue and then come up with a solution. And also I'm new for Business Analysis so I haven't created a Business Case in my life, so some exercises to create them would be great.

I learnt some really helpful new techniques to use at work for brainstorming and evaluating project ideas and persuading stakeholders of the benefits. I liked that the quizzes, though short, were quite challenging. The one assignment in the middle also required some thought to complete which helped me to absorb the strategies covered previously. The lectures were clear and easy to follow with a bit of humour thrown which I enjoyed. The downloadable resources are also excellent for practical use later.

This is the 3rd course i have taken and completed from this trainer. Very good blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application. His courses are a must if you want to work in any role that encompasses a BA element. Will change to 5 stars when my question is answered(not sure how active replies are here).

Overall very good. I think the 'knowing your audience' section is potentially very important and a bit waffly. I made a note "not to undersell the intangible benefits" to the CFO. You could say 'sell the intangible benefits' after focusing on cost-benefit analysis with them. COOs are more focused on 'run-time' (like .NET run-time?) and 'operational effectiveness' (not explained) than strategy. "But are maniacal about strategy, so highlight how your project will contribute to the strategy of the organization." So they are mostly interested in strategy... that puzzles me - are they primarily interested in strategy or not? CIO's have a focus on technology, but you should also talk to them about strategy, not technology. I'll take the advice because I don't know any better but wondering if the CIO will steer towards a technology conversation at all.

This course gave me so many insights on not just on how to write/present a business case, but the same techniques can be used in multiple scenarios.

A very straight forward course, which definitely deals with all aspects of a business analyst role and beyond. The true value(s) of this course is that it presents very well the tools to develop a business case while also shows that the success of a business case lies in the use of soft skills rather than only the intellectual ones.
By Petar Vrecic on 2/8/2018
I enjoyed this course. I only knew a bit about business cases before, but now I feel clued up. The good thing about this course is that there are quite a few examples and a bunch of templates for your own use. A large point illustrated in the course is that a business case is done to get a project funded, and the course provides a lot of small tips to help you do that.
