I chose to enroll in this course as a stepping stone towards my goal of establishing a proofreading and editing enterprise. While I possess a decent grasp of English grammar and punctuation,I sought to enhance my skills through this course. I suceeded. The instruction was top-notch, and the instructor, Clare, was clear and understandable. The course was well-structured and thorough, covering even the trickier elements of punctuation. While I wouldn't say I'm an expert, I now feel much more capable and confident in my writing abilities. I highly recommend this course for anyone looking to improve their writing skills. It was a superb course! Refreshing myself of all the nitty gritty of punctuations was what I need, it was a perfect match with the other course I took with Clare as well. She was really engaging. Thanks Clare!

The teacher is very knowledgeable but talks too fast and I miss a lot of things she’s mentioning. When I slow down the playback rate to 0.75x you cannot understand her as captions & spoken word are not in sync.

By Maria Hikova on 3/8/2022

The course is really well organised - it is divided into bite-sized chunks, which are clear, concise, and to the point. While there were a lot of things that I already knew when it came to the more commonly used punctuation marks, I have learned many new things. I have gained much more confidence in the decisions I make while punctuating. I highly recommend this course. I had a wonderful experience learning from Dr Lynch.

This course complemented the proofreading course by Clare that I did previously. It was good because the course had a lot of exercises to apply what was learned in each lesson. The lessons were of the right duration and build on each other. Excellent course and instructor on Udemy.com.

By Helen Sandison on 10/4/2020

I thought it was a comprehensive overview of grammar. The presenter was clear and concise with her examples and explained points well. The only niggle I had with the course was manner in which the semi-colon was dealt with. It came over as slightly patronising to those who choose to use it in their writing. However, it was an excellent course and I would recommend it to others.

Great course! I really enjoyed Clare's sense of humor and, of course, her accent. I learned some things I never knew, even though I thought I knew a lot about this particular subject, so that's great. And I love being tested on my knowledge with the quizzes at the end of each section. Definitely recommend this course and Clare to everyone who wants to learn more about punctuation. Looking forward to studying proofreading with her next.

By Carmen Barber on 8/3/2020

This course was well worth my time. I am not a beginning proofreader but needed to brush up on a few punctuation skills and this course was perfect. I loved the pace. For the trickier sections, there were just enough practice exercises to solidify the topic. The course handbook is worth its weight in gold! I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to have a no-nonsense punctuation course that is well organized, professional, and enjoyable. I consider it time well spent.

By Kathryn Mikkelsen on 4/13/2020

This course was informative and enjoyable! (As a lady, I support the scientific findings on exclamation mark usage.) Punctuation had always presented as a set of rules that - while important not to break - were vaguely explained. The idea of using punctuation to create "meaning and music" really changed my perspective. It's obvious that a great deal of research and thought went into the creation of this course, and I appreciate it. Thank you for including the ebook. I think it will be a valuable reference.

By Bernadette Fegarido on 4/3/2020

So far so good, the instructor is very clear and gives many examples. I learned things I didn't know and glad to have a refresher on old things I've learned before school begins!
