Course Description
"I have already learned more in this class than in a $12,000 coding BootCamp (...). Before taking one of the Bootcamp on Udemy, you should take this class first" – Robert
Do you want to learn the fundamentals of modern web development fast?
Do you want to find out if building websites and apps is the right career path for you?
Or maybe you just want to know what your web developer friends do all day?
In any of these cases...
Welcome to my "Web Development Crash Course"! Together, we will build a fun, small, but full-stack web application in just a few days.
But why this course? And why is it so short?
Well, there are so many 60 and 80-hour-long "complete" web development courses out there, which are great if you want to invest 3 months of your life into finding out if web dev is even right for you or not...
I wanted to offer a different approach. A short and fast crash course, where you can dip your toes into the world of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and even React (the most used JavaScript library in the world).
You can finish it in a weekend (if you have nothing else planned), or you can take a week. But the point is that you can learn the very fundamentals of web development quite fast, and in an engaging, 99% project-based way.
And even though this is called a "crash course", this course teaches you more in 12 hours than I learned in my first 2 years as a web developer!
That's how condensed, and how valuable, the material is. And the course still maintains the high-quality standard of all my other courses, so that you actually understand what you are learning!
But you might be thinking: "Is a crash course really right for me?"
Well, it all depends on your goals.
Sure, you will not become a web developer after this short course, and you will not be able to build big web projects (but sometimes that's true even for those huge 80-hour courses).
But, at the end of this course, you will have learned and understood the fundamentals of the most important web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React). And even more importantly, you will have discovered if you actually like web development and want to pursue it as a (lucrative) career!
Plus, you will walk away from this course with a super cool web application that you can show to all your friends (please tell them I sent you ;)
All this will enable you to go deeper into the topics that you actually liked, and keep learning and progressing on your own if you like (or of course, you can purchase more specialized courses).
So, have you never written a single line of code in your life?
You have come to the right place! We will start slowly, step-by-step, and then speed up the pace as we progress through the course.
So here's what we're gonna do in this course:
We will set up your code editor and coding environment together (all for free!)
I will guide you through the basics of the web and web development
Then we slowly start our project, by writing the HTML code (for the page content)
We then style the page and create a layout using CSS
Next we create an online database and API for our application data, using a free service called Supabase
To get the data into the application and make it interactive, we learn the fundamentals of JavaScript
Writing apps with only JavaScript can be difficult, so we build the app using the React library
Finally, we deploy the final project to a free service called Netlify
DONE! You can now share the URL of your project with everyone :)
Already know HTML, CSS, or JavaScript?
No problem! You can still get something from the course. For example, you can watch only the section on "React" and use the downloadable code from the previous section as your starting point.
If all this sounds great, then join me on this adventure right now! See you on the inside :)

This is an excellent course, like others have said, I have learnt more on this course than other 'Boot Camp' courses. I really recommend it if you have already completed basic HTML, CSS & Javascript courses that have taught you some of the basic principles, syntax & theory. This course puts the fundamentals all together in a practical way. Jonas' pacing is great, albeit congratulations if you complete it in a weekend! Jonas has pitched this at the perfect level.

The course offers a quick dive into basic concepts of web development but the structure and the way Jonas explains things can be a bit disorganized at times so you have to pay a bit more of attention. There's no deep explanation of how a concept or building block works so this course is not recommended as it is just a hands-on, watch-and-replicate programming experience that eases you into the world of web development.

Its a really great crash course if you want to know how to build and create a small from the very beginning, also if you want to put some hands on or just to review some topics on web dev this will help you out to get all the environment set up, Jonas always takes you step by step so you fully understand what is going on. This helped me out to get some review to get back to the web dev path.

Everything was great and easy to understand/follow! I only had issues with the installation of React. And sadly, my issues weren't already in the course's discussions so I had to spend some time figuring that out. So just a heads up, be patient and persevere if you face problems with React. Great course and great value as a starting point for front-end web development. Thank you Jonas!

I personally loved this course; I purchased this course when it was launched, and I finished it until React 4th lesson but later I got busy and completely had to switch languages for my university courses. Now I came back and made sure to retake and finish this one. Although there were times when I wanted the concepts to be explained in more simple way but because of the amazing teaching assistant @Aleksander who answers Q&A it was simple and fun. Now I wish to continue and learn more.

I thought this was a great course, very well delivered using concepts that are not difficult to understand yet still translates core functionality and principles of the various languages and tools that we use. I came in with zero experience of writing any HTML, CSS, a tiny bit of JavaScript, but now I've definitely learned and developed the skills required to take my learning to the next level. Would highly recommend this course!

This course covers many tools used in both front-end and back-end web development. It is a good introduction to these tools and provides enough information to help the student decide which direction to go next. I had some experience with HTML and CSS prior to taking the course, so only front-end experience. It was useful for me as an exploration of back-end tools and an introduction to outside services such as Supabase and Netlify.

This course is a nice introduction to web development, covering the most fundamental technologies involved. The project that is built is interesting. One thing I did not enjoy, though, was the fact that the instructor had the code editor and browser opened side by side throughout the whole course, and the screen real estate for the editor was very narrow. As a result the code was wrapping, making the process of reading and copying it cumbersome.

As a second-year student in a BSIT course, I am a beginner in web development, but I am really craving more learning for this field, and it is because of Sir Jonas that I learned the fundamentals, and as Sir Jonas stated, "learning never stops," so for all beginners should not stop learning while we are young and have time. Thank you very much sir Jonas for your hard work in making this course and thank you also especially for the teacher assistance here on udemy. Thank you is insufficient for the knowledge I gained from this course.

A simple and solid course that covers the fundamentals as well as some advanced topics. It is quite easier for some intermediate developers to get some quick refreshment on HTML, CSS, JS, React & even learn Supabase. For beginners new to web development, it seems intimidating at first, but keep focused and try to compete on the course. The knowledge you're gonna gain from Jonas is something unimaginable. Thanks a lot for the useful course, Jonas. Looking forward to your React course
