Course Description
Every day, as a Leader or Manager, you make decisions based on data. You read a report. You look at a chart. You trust a number. And you act !
But what if the data was already broken before you looked at it? What if the chart was technically accurate but completely misleading? What if the pattern you spotted was pure randomness, and your brain simply invented a story around it?
This happens frequently to all of us, in every organization and every industry, every day.
Research tells us that the human brain is not naturally wired to handle statistics, probability, randomness, and risk accurately. We make the same systematic, predictable mistakes — not because we are careless, but because of how our brains work !
In this Course, you will learn exactly how and why this happens. And what to do about it.
We go through flawed data, misleading summaries, pattern errors in randomness, probability misjudgments, risk blind spots, and practical strategies you can apply right away. Every concept is backed by real research and real-world examples.
Sivakami has nearly 2 decades of corporate experience leading global teams at organisations like Microsoft and Verizon; and nearly a decade teaching Leadership Science and Psychology to more than 160,000 students across 180 countries. So you are in good hands !
This is not a Probability or Statistics course. You will not be taught foundational Probability or Statistics concepts here.
A basic high school level understanding is all you need.
This is a Business Decision Making and Critical Thinking Course.
What you will learn is how to stop misreading the data you already have — and start making decisions that are sharper, more honest, and far more reliable. How to make good decisions, when it involves probability, statistics, randomness, risk and uncertainty !
If your decisions affect teams, budgets, strategies, or people — this Course is absolutely for you.

Overall straightforward, easy to understand, and very helpful to have all the studies and real world examples to reinforce the concepts. The sound quality was also very good, which is a huge plus. Unfortunately, some of the really obvious AI graphics were quite distracting, and the AI roleplay was overly simplistic and offered more annoyance than new insight. If not for those two elements, this would have easily been a 5-star rating.

I dont want to sound like a black swan reviewer but I think this sample statistics tutorial work best for people for spacial needs intellectual settings. She skipped all the hidden hand of the important mathematics subject. I do think she do a great job on framing the course with excellent images and videos that it keeps engaged until the end for begginers general knowledge audience. I think I learned a thing or two, thanks for your eloquence and framing!

Hi Sivakami, I appreciate the conciseness of the provided resources. Often times the resources provided in online classes are just "grenades" of information, making it difficult to understand what we learned. Keeping it concise reduces complexity and keeps the transfer of information straight forward. I wish additional resources were always provided in your fashion; I've always thought, why provide so much context in an additional resource when we can go back to the video / reading if needed?

Sivakami is a truly gifted instructor. I have no doubt about it. This is the second course that I take in which she in the instructor. The other one is called "Change Management Mastery : A Model for Leaders & Managers !". Both courses are excellent. Concepts are clearly explained, her English is very good, the examples are well choose, and they give you a lot to think about. This particular course is highly relevant to those who want to base their decision making process in statistics. Among other things, It introduces the students to common mistakes that are made when using statistical analysis. I have found this to be quite helpful.

I really enjoyed this course. I was able to apply it to my everyday life. The real-life examples were great to put the course into context. It was easy to understand and follow. Very informative and insightful.

Super enjoyed this course! What could have been an hours- or days-long read was compressed into chunks of easily digestible learning! I hope, though, that visual presentations, will be more enhanced to make it more engaging and interactive to learners!

I believe it was a great validation of the known - Unpredictability in the real world. Almost the philosophy of neti neti (not this noth this), leading to an agreement on the fact that we aren't and can't be in control of most things.

I tried to reply to earlier request for more comment, but the link wouldn't work. My response to initial modules was mediocre because I am not new to statistics (though I am not super expert either). It was good but mostly reminder for me. Then got to Simpson's Paradox. That was totally new. Glad to learn about it. Plus, good discussion of parsing data carefully to find what it really has to say. To me (N sample of 1), having real-world examples like Florida death penalty data is more engaging than hypothetical example like Russian roulette--unless a tight connection could be made from the roulette example to a real-world data set.

The course delivers on its expectations and arms the participant with a great knowledge of how you may be fooled by statistics. The use of examples for all the learning points is great, and makes it easy to grasp. If I should propose an improvement, I would suggest a little information on when statistics can actually be used. - unless that is a matter of chance as well :-) - After the course I am most likely to question any statistics used in argumentation. Like the ones showing that on average women earns less than men. There may be a multitude of explanations why the statistics show that - a lot of additional parameters that would skew the results differently, etc. - But I guess from the course, there is no (easy) way to tell. Thanks for all the insights, however - very useful.

Probability is a very complex subject with a requirement of more than a basic understanding of Maths but the Instructor has taken the trouble of explaining some of the pitfalls in interpreting probability results in very easy to understand manner. The Course expects you to know the basics and focuses on the likely misconceptions.
