Course Description
Make your ideas come true by knowing how people can help.
You are reading this because you either have an idea for a short film or full-length animation project for yourself, or…
Because you are just curious and wanted to know what was all that hype of “Direct and Produce Animation”. Well, give me a couple of seconds to see if I can get you more curious.
Everyone has ideas. Right? Well, that's the good part. The bad part is that most of those ideas live only inside the mind of the holder. Never making it to born into reality.
Why? Because people prefer to scratch their heads or their bellies because it feels good.
Think about it, most don't know that they can produce them without sitting on a computer or knowing anything about animation. Yes. That's a fact. There are successful producers running big studios who don't know how to draw or animate and yet, they materialize ideas because they know how the different departments work. They know how to guide people.
So, I ask you…
What does it take to get your idea realized? To have it come true? And how can you do it in less time?
Animation is a very long process that can be shortened if you know a little weird secret:
People want to help.
But the big question is: Do you know how they can help?
What If one of your friends, loves to work with sound and likes your project? How can he help?
And artists? Or photographers? I bet you know a photographer, and until now, you didn't know a photographer could help with animation. How? Well, by applying composition principles of photography to your shots and a bunch of cinematography concepts. That photographer can make your animation look awesome.
When you have an idea for a project and you know how to animate, you can do what most people do.
Go SOLO mode. YEAH! RIGHT ON!
I don't know if it's to show off all their abilities and say: I did it all by myself! Or if they just didn't know that people around them wanted to help, but neither any of them knew it could be done faster.
Imagine you have this idea for a story, or even a quick joke or gag that you want to transform into animation, into a living and breathing thing that could go viral on the internet.
You say to yourself: “Hey, this joke could be an awesome 30 second short film and could make many people laugh”. Ha! Making people laugh is one of the most generous things anyone can do for someone else. But we are not talking about comedy, we are talking about that idea of the joke and the possibility of creating an animation out of it.
If you don't know how to use a computer or don't know how to walk and talk, you will definitely think deep inside you: “Oh man… I wish I could walk and talk so I could learn how to use a computer to then make this animation”.
Well, good news, I bet you can use a computer and can walk and talk (or at least you know how to communicate.)
Knowing how to communicate and how each department works in an animation feature film production, is what can make this Idea a reality.
Or maybe you just read all that and said: Hey… Mr. Bald (because I'm bald… AND I'M LOVING IT!), I'm an animator, stop preaching on what I can or can't do”.
Well, then I have something to tell you…
- Being an animator
- Knowing how to direct and produce your projects
- And how to find and work with people who is waiting for a chance to help…
Can make your life easier. You could cut in half the time it takes to finish on your own.
And not only that… but you also get THE BEST VERSION OF YOUR STORY.
And that, my friend… it's priceless.
You: “Hey, we are not friends, ok?” Me: “Of course we are, we just don't know each other”
(Drum roll please… prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRR PPSSS!)
So anyway, knowing how to direct and produce can make any idea come true. And the cool part is, you don't even need to know how to draw or animate. How cool is that!

Some info are good but most are learnable for free on Youtube. It's no surprise that in the last video he says " some don't finish he course" because it took me quite a while to finish and almost decided to quit because I find the instructor tried too hard to be enganging with character voices and it just comes off distracting and annoying. I would ask for a refund if I only I didn't take too long.

I enjoyed taking the course. It was short enough to fit into a day but informative so I learnt some new useful stuff and it backed up things I'm already doing as a self-taught animator. The PDF downloadable notes were useful. The instructor's style was a bit weird and wacky at times but it was entertaining and he's obviously enthusiastic about the subject. It's not an in-depth course but it's a great overview with some great advice and you definitely know and understand the process of directing and producing animation by the end of it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course, I couldn't go through it fast enough! and I finished it months ago and I still keep going back to rewatch lessons. Mark has a good sense of humour and entertaining. I have enrolled in several other of his courses since. The course really made me think about my true talents and abilities in the animation process, and it encouraged me to hone those skills. Thank you, Mark.

The course is highly descriptive on what we need to know in the background for animation, which includes how to write the story of the animation in a clear concise way to help your peers know how to work with you, how to get them to speak in a certain way that not many people think about and to make your final results to be the most engaging to your public audience as possible. The instructor does an excellent job at making the course to be highly engaging to the students that decides to listen in and learn, he talk with a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of humor that is properly timed to mock the natural bad habit students have, which has the effect of cheering us up and make us want to learn more. Thank you for making this course, I've always wanted to learn more about animation and never thought about the background of animation like the course covers, now I just have to spend some time on my animation ideas and bring them to life. Also thank you for making it clear that animation is a greater opportunity for me than I have previously thought, some things covered in the course took care of what I was fearing most in the production of animation (Which is not the animation part, but the part about voice since I am hard of hearing). Thank you.

The course is very clear and direct. Sometimes I wished for more details, more experiences from real projects, but then I remembered the course's point - You will not be a professional director after watching this course, but you will understand the basic principles that will lead you to a successful career. It will show you ways and options, and you will be better prepared for your dream and work. I really enjoyed it and recommend it!

Really bad narration. Confusing and often goes against his own lessons. Feels more like a low quality youtube video rather than a payed lesson.

This course is delivered in an entertaining and engaging way. I took this course as I produce animations and wanted to have a broader knowledge to the ways in which the industry of animation looks at itself. I have learnt a lot and feel a lot more empowered. I have a lot of techniques I can put into practise, and there are definitely lots of 'golden nuggets' of information that more than make up for the cost of the course.

This is a really great course. It covers all the basics and then some about the whole process of producing animation. I like how it focuses a lot on the pre-production, which is the most important part in any kind of movie production (in my opinion at least). I like the instructor's charisma, and when at first I would exhale from my nose and roll my eyes at the lil' jokes he made, at the end of the course I'd laugh just because I felt somewhat close to him. You know when you laugh at your friend's bad jokes just because? That's how it was. He presents the content in a clear way, and clearly understands what he's talking about. The section about directing voice actors was especially great, and gave me excelent insights on how to work on my own VA performance, as to how to direct my team's. For anyone who's interested, if you want to learn how to animate, don't look here. But if you want to learn how to make a good animation, then you should definitely take this course.

The instructor gives an engaging presentation laced with humor in this course that includes a comprehensive summary of the professional animation production pipeline. People who have been involved in aspects of film or animation will be familiar with most of the topics discussed, but the course does a good job of consolidating and organizing the entire production flow. The instructor is easy to follow, and his experience gives credibility to the presentation.

Great subject, great energy through the whole tutorial, very entertaining, and informative. I had great time watching it and listening to Mark's jokes. He is the best :) I do like him a lot as well as his sarcasm and acting mode, but at times was too much and distracted me from the seriousness of the lecture. In general: I had great time listening to Mark while I learn something new. Thank you!
