Docker: A Project-Based Approach to Learning (Udemy.com)

This course is an excellent overview of what Docker can do, and how to do it. Jason's courses are always laid out in a logical, progressive structure, with new sections building seamlessly on previous sections. His explanations are always clear, and he includes information about edge cases and deprecated commands that you may encounter even though they shouldn't be used anymore. If you need to get up and running with Docker, this class is a solid resource. One minor drawback is I ran into a few issues with running Docker on Windows. The course is in a Linux environment, and there were a few exercises I couldn't get to work on my Windows box. Docker on Windows uses a hybrid file system, with some things stored in Linux under WSL. I ran into permissions issues (e.g. under /var/lib/docker) but didn't dig too deeply into it because it didn't seem that critical.

This was my first encounter with Docker and is a good beginner course - Jason's videos proceed at the right pace, with clear explanations of what to do and why - plus info on deprecated methods that might be seen elsewhere. A bit more guidance for Windows OS would be welcome, but Jered is quick to respond on the Q&A with useful suggestions.

Great course to learn Docker. Emphasis is given to practical activities and hands-on exercises. I wish some of the videos were less lengthy, and I would have also liked to see some coverage of Docker Compose (although not a core Docker feature). Overall, this is a very solid course to start learning Docker. Highly recommended!

The quality of support from the teaching assistant is phenomenal, and the main reason I bought this course after taking another course from this instructor. I also like the instructor and his teaching style is effective. I have tried a few other Docker courses on Udemy but this one has by far the best Q&A support, which makes it a must-have course.

I've done this course right after attending the Shell scripting one and I've learnt a lot with these 2 courses. I used to use Docker every day without really knowing and now I feel much more confident as I understand things under the hood better. As a suggestion, it would be nice to have a short video on docker-compose.

It's good but not complete. My request to Jason C is to update this course to include docker compose. Also, in my embedded projects - docker is used to build the source code so that the build environment is intact. I want an example for that. It will be helpful if you can add that. The course is good. I am taking off half point due to the fact that more contents should be added. Otherwise the course is good. I liked Jason C course on Vim Master class. Now, I am using vim to write the Dockerfile. I also took his class on bash project based course. All of them were good. This course is good but needs some more depth.

The course gives a good insight into Docker and what it does. It summarise and focusses on the important features. I must admit that some of the explanations did go over my head but I think if I get more experienced I may understand it better. I did have an issue with the last exercise and was not sure how to proceed once stuck.
