Course Description
This course is for anyone who is interested in exploring Digital Image Processing using Raspberry Pi and OpenCV. The course requires basic knowledge of Python programming and Linux commands and obviously your interest in programming.
In this course, we are going to use OpenCV libraries to explore facial recognition feature. OpenCV is an open source C++ library for image processing and computer vision, originally developed by Intel and now supported by Willow Garage.
It is free for both commercial and non-commercial use. Therefore it is not mandatory for your OpenCV applications to be open or free.
It is a library of many inbuilt functions mainly aimed at real-time image processing. I am going to teach you how to track faces in the image you have captured using Webcam or any other device. We will also locate and count the faces present in the image.
In the next project, I will teach you how to program in Python and OpenCV to detect and highlight the eyes of the persons along with the face present in the picture.
Going forward, I will also cover the machine learning based project in which I will create Image puzzle using python programming and OpenCV. This will be a picture-based puzzle where you can search a small section of the image inside a bigger image.
I will guide you step by step how to go about building these projects. I will also share the source code with you so that you can replicate the project by yourself.

Its good for starters. I am looking for more in depth material, still not very sure how I can recognize images in a live video feed which was the main reason i purchased the course.

Although you learn the basics. This course need a lot of improvements starting with the video materials. It seems that was originally based in OpenCV 2.x as some videos still show that version. The camera pointing at a monitor is also not the best way to get quality footage, there is capture software for that. Although I learned the basics, the course is very short, it should include a larger set of examples and more explanations or reduce the price under $10 or give it for free. Finally, the quiz has to be redone completely, most questions can't be answered with the material of the course.

Very well explained... Easy to fallow the steps

I would expect to learn more about facial recognition technologies. This course is more about installation of Python and OpenCV on Ubuntu. It then shows the code and 3 demo examples of calling opencv functions to extract facial features and pattern recognition. Indeed, this whole process could be done for any Ubuntu installation. Raspberry Pi only uses an older distribution of Ubuntu. If you are curious enough, know enough Linux commands and know how to download and install opencv-supporting packages. Some of installation instructions appear to be inaccurate and failed(not at instructor's fault). You need to invest more time to do your own research to get the correct packages installed in order to successfully execute those facial recognition examples. This course is a good jumpstart for anyone want to get their feet wet in using Raspberry Pi and want to know what that tiny box can do for fun. The good news, I successfully following the instruction to run the examples on both Rapsberry Pi board (raspbian 8) and a virtual machine running Ubuntu 14.x with same camera. Use a decent web cam to capture images to play around with demos. Instructions are concise and short. Need to improve video quality to stay competitive.

I appreciate the instructor's course. He does a good job of getting the student to get video detection. Some pieces fell below my expectations. Sound and video quality are a tad subpar at times. I feel like the instructor went in depth on the theory and background in some parts and not others. The course doesn't flow very well. I do believe the instructor knows exactly what he's talking about and is passionate about it. I feel encouraged with my own face detection projects.

The questions & answers for the quizes aren't reviewed or talked about... Probably the most important part, the installation on to the RPi, is not explained in any detail -we are provided a pdf step by step. The part of OpenCV that was explained was a quick over view of what HAAR Cascades do. If you already know what you're doing with python, opencv & RPi you'll be able to follow along but for beginners trying to learn you'll probably get lost. I came looking for explanations and was just given code to copy & paste.

This isn't an in-depth course. There's not much explanation on why you're doing each thing you're doing. It's more like a tutorial in video form, that said, it does deliver on getting you to the point of being able to work with facial recognition using opencv on a rpi.

Good command of English, not native -but good command, also the CC Captions help a lot. The instructor knows what he's talking about, I haven't done anything yet -just going through the lessons to familiarize myself first. I will probably do it again over the weekend.
