Hello, learners! Greetings from Makerdemy. In this course, you will learn about the MQTT Data transfer protocol with the help of Examples and Projects.
The course is a beginner level course on MQTT. The course takes off with the introduction of MQTT and sheds light on the Features that define the purpose of the protocol. Then the course explains how MQTT benefits the field of Internet of Thing.Next, the course moves on to the MOSQUITTO MQTT BROKER which is one of the standard MQTT broker tool available and teaches how to install and test in on Raspberry pi 3 and Laptop running Windows OS. The course then introduces the MQTT Client tools that help to Publish and Subscribe messages effectively.
The course then introduces the ESP8266 which is a low-cost WiFi module that can be programmed using the Arduino IDE. Then the course demonstrates two projects that use MQTT protocol with the ESP8266 12E module.
Project 1: In this project, you will learn how to Remotely control LED and Publish readings from temperature and humidity sensor using Raspberry Pi, ESP8266 and MQTT Protocol
Project 2: In this project, you will learn about the Swachh garbage system where an ultrasonic sensor is used along with ESP8266 and Raspberry Pi to monitor the percentage of the garbage-filled in the bins.
The projects are designed to showcase the potential use cases of the MQTT protocol and the ESP8266 module such that you can build your projects.
While doing your projects and going through the course, you can feel free to ask your doubts on the Udemy discussion forum. You will get a response within one working day. Thank you and have a nice time learning.

the start company sound + image of each chapter needs to be tackle differently. With respect to the course, yes it was usefull for me to know more on MQTT, Raspberry PI and Windows Laptop config. I had my head scratching when it came to advance programming and knowledge on ESP8266. But that was due to lack of enough knowledge on this subject. However, I think the course could have been bit more explanatory. Quiz course would be great to add on.

For the title of the course ("Mastering MQTT"), I would like that the course would expose more topics like the QoS with different examples, also for the Keep Alive, with more real example than just send a message. Also I think that the first part of the course was covered too much faster than I would like, and trying to explain with more detail the different features of MQTT, and not only describe in general what it is one concept and jump to the next.

Few things that can be better: - setting up a server as only a server or only a client (pub/sub) needs to be clearer. - Linux based machines (raspberry-pi) does not need wget based installations. the apt repositiories carry th mosquitto and mosquitto-clients application with all required dependencies. in my experience python-mosquitto was not required at all - I would love to see the username and password based implementation. Security is important and should be expande upon even in the basic implementation examples. The course does not seem to be updated often. That does NOT take away from the fact that I am very thinkful for the clear and concise instructions in the course. Good job dude!

The process of downloading and installing the MQTT Broker was so fast and the commands were not presented in the text field below the screen. The text on the command lines was so small I had to get a magnifying glass to see what was typed. Learning how to download and install the software products is why I bought this class. I am glad that I only wasted $10.

I learnt a lot about MQTT, was really informative and well worth the $10. I am using OpenHAB2 for my Home Automation project, would be nice to see how these items could be incorporated into OpenHAB2, which seems to be the more popular one. A few more examples with various sensors would be nice i.e motion detection, security camera using a cheap webcam, light detection etc. Thanks very much

I am still working on the last project of this course, but I have to say that this course is worth it. I have learned so much about MQTT that I am already able to write my own client applications in just a short time. The concepts were explained clearly and I appreciate the effort you put in answering the questions. Thank you very much Makerdemy.

It took some more time to follow, but at least, the example project worked (one problem installing pip: I had to purge openjava8-sdk (-headless) and reinstall it on raspberry. For getting the example to run I used a Linux workstation instead a Windows PC. In summary: A very useful entry point for mqtt, i didn't know, and a motivation to dive deeper.

This is a good fundamental course in MQTT. However, the PDF files used are impossible to cut and paste from into PUTTY/VNC (text files are OK). The simple http server example is still broken (found a normal http site on Google to test). Most all MQTT using Amazon and Microsoft use certificate based authentication that was not covered by the course. Similarly, no authentication was covered. Security is important but there is no coverage of the topic. I found the course very worthwhile. It was difficult at times to understand the instructor (very heavy accent), but the content was worth the effort. Thank you for putting the course together.

Very competent person; Haresh presented a lot of working examples that can be used as a base for own projects. Some explanations could be somewhat in more detail. E.g., the html code for the RPi web server was not explained at all (ok, it is a course about mqtt and not about html, so I do not really complain about this). According to my feeling, the ESP8266 part should be replaced by the ESP32, which will supersede the older part soon. It would also be interesting to learn in addition about mqtt client software for home automation like Home assistant, OpenHAB, pidome... One last comment: A more modulated speaking would be more enjoyable and less stressful for the listener, but I know that this is hard to change
