Jonny B is the greatest tutor I have ever met in developing apps! I am doing both iOS and Android - and he covers these all and great.

Awesome course, very good explaining. I was able to follow even without knowing Kotlin. I write codes in Java.

Muito bom o curso, muito esclarecedor. So acho que pecou um pouco usar somente klotin, mas super recomendado. Sugestão e tentar mesclar entre klotin e Java puro. Very good course, very enlightening. Just think I sinned a little using only klotin, but super recommended. Suggestion and try to merge between klotin and pure Java.

The course is very similar to Johnny's Kotlin course, but this time it is a lot faster, which is not a problem. This is one of those courses where you definitely learn a lot in a very short time. The information is poured on the student in a very dense form and very fast. This course really doesn't want to waste your time compared to other slower courses. The course covers Google's Firestore cloud service, which functions as a NoSQL database. As well as, how one can utilize said database to create a relatively simple App that connects, queries and stores data. Instead of Java, the instructor decided to use the Kotlin programming language, which I find simply excellent, since it cuts down on the boilerplate code that the instructor has to write and stundents can focus on implementing functionality instead of learning shortcut keys to inject code templates and learn to fill them out (which is what Java has degraded to nowadays) as they build their App. The course has one exercise in the end, which is a breeze to go through if you followed the course from the beginning. My only problem with this course is the fact that Firestore is still in its Beta version and Kotlin is still a language that is under heavy development. There are sections in this course where you need to stop following the instructor and open Google docs and search forums to figure out why the code that the instructor has written, turns out to be crawling with syntax errors. Most of these problems are relatively easy to fix, while others are impossible. I for one couldn't make use of the Firestore rules to setup the security for accessing data when different users interact with it over the FireStore App. I spent a day to try and get to the bottom of the problem, but I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Things like these are very irritating and should be addressed by the instructor. Unfortunately, no recent questions are answered by said instructor therefore, I'm decreasing my review score by two stars and will leave it like that, until support has been reestablished.

I am a Sun Certified Java Programmer, so am quite knowledgable with Java, I took this course with the objective of both learning Cloud Firestore and Kotlin. Although I followed most, the Lambda expressions and null checks were a little confusing, I'll do a Kotlin course next. Firebase was explained in great detail. I especially liked the security section and am not sure I'd have even found the problem, never mind the solution in deleting someone else's comments. A slight negative was that none of my questions asked were answered, I worked around the problems myself, but some of the standard code simply didn't work (though it obviously worked at course development time), maybe Kotlin or Firebase changed a little, for example you can't + 1 to the number of likes as shown in the code. 5 stars means very good, well worth the money.

I was looking for a coarse of Firebase Firestore which is maybe 10% of this coarse. It should be called Java Android Dev using Firestore.
