It is not an easy project, and the classes are not very easy to follow for beginners. But for intermedia above learners, this is a perfect course to learn advanced techniques in iOS development. Although there are many courses teaching iOS dev, not many covers advanced topics; this one gives a touch of the thought and workflow of a professional developer. I need to review the code many times, and mastering the course will be a milestone in my journey to be a professional developer.

Eng: A bit outdated course, which also does not affect many features of building an application for such a service, in particular, user authentication is not correct, most of the user - driver interaction function is incorrectly compiled — given that there are more than two users, also transferring their data using firebase storage, the teacher often repeats the own code, all logic is implemented using two singleton classes - which in principle does not take into account most of the patterns of solving such problems in Swift programming... Considering all this - I put only three stars, but if you pay attention that this is the best course on a resource on this topic, also considering the price of ~ 11 euros it is possible to put four ...))) Simply - who is interested in publishing such an app in appstore - there is a lot of time for self-development))) Rus: Hемного устаревший курс - не затрагивающий многие особенности построения аппликация для подобного сервиса, в частности: аутентификация юзера не корректная, большинство функции взаимодействия user with driver составленный некорректно - с учетом того, что пользователей больше двух, так же no profile user and driver и сохранения передачи их данных с помощью firebase storage, преподаватель очень часто повторяет собственний код, вся логика реализована с помощью двух Singleton классов - что в принципе не учитывает большинство паттернов решения таких задач в программировании Swift...

This course is phenomenal. It was exactly what I was looking for, to be taught how to create a replica of Uber using a database. They went above and beyond by paying a lot of attention to detail and showed me how to make it look good, which would take me weeks to figure out by myself, but now I have all those bits of UI information for later access as well. I am currently programming this in swift 4.2 and there are some small changes but overall the code is nearly the same. Also I am using google firestore instead of google firebase, which requires a bit of different code but the logic is similar and can be looked up. Finally I do have swift experience from a class at school and I worked for a few months as an intern iPhone developer so I was able to make changes a brand new person might not pick up easily. Im currently on section 4 and it runs on the simulator but crashes on my device. Update: I fixed the crashing issue because of some mistakes changing from firebase to firestore. Im currently finishing section 6 and the app is running smoothly.

Overall learned some cool things about how to use map kit and update locations in real time, but this is terrible, terrible code for so many different reasons. To start, the use of singleton classes for the API calls is completely unnecessary. I have this app working perfectly without them and singletons should generally be avoided unless absolutely necessary. Second, the API calls are GROSSLY inefficient. If you are learning how to code, please do not handle your API calls like this guy does. Caleb calls the API far too much, and the code written to retrieve data is quite frankly just awful and really messy. Third, there is no use of custom objects in this project, which would make it significantly more efficient. There should be classes constructed for Passengers, Drivers, as well as Trips. Instead, there is messy handling of data coming back from the API, and it is not well organized. Fourth, the way this code is written is just really bad. Tons of nested if statements that aren't necessary, the code isn't structured well, excessive use of for-loops that also aren't necessary, and so much more. If you are learning how to code, I STRONGLY recommend that you take some other courses and then come back to this course, and code this project differently. I recommend courses from Brian Voong at "letsbuildthatapp.com" I am a professional developer with years of experience and multiple apps released to the App Store. This review is meant to be constructive, but also had to be honest.

Information is very inclusive. I had a little trouble with the commands and basically had to figure it out myself, which is good, but I would have expected to have some input from devslopes. I did get a response from what I believe is another person taking the course.

DO NOT BUY!! While this course gives you a decent skeleton project of a ride share app, this app is in no way built to be optimized for the App Store. For those who would argue this is just for learning purposes, there are numerous bad practices taught in the course, and a lot of unclear explanations. All of which could still be made up for if the instructor was the least bit responsive, but I have had no luck getting any of my questions answered, as well as 100% of the other students' questions listed in the Q&A section. Instructor is very unresponsive both on Udemy and via email/Twitter....also the code in this app is not updated for Xcode 9 so some of the code he writes isn't compatible.

A good challenge to level up your skills and build something that looks good. The course is great in that it is a fantastic all-rounder; UI, Animations, Backend and Logic working in synergy. The course is slightly out of date but if you should have no trouble getting the correct methods from a quick scan of the documentation.

Great course for intermediate and advanced iOS developers that are not only seeking tutorials on Firebase but also on design patterns and good practices in app development. I liked the attention to detail very much. This course will teach you how to write apps like a pro - great knowledge. One request though, I would like to learn more theory on some subjects, more universal examples

I'm at the 53% mark and this course has been fabulous. What I really like about this course is the attention to recreating a live app and all the little details that go into it. I also really love Caleb's figuring out stuff on screen. While not really debugging exactly it is great to hear him go through his thought process while fixing stuff. It is definitely not a beginner ios or swift course but for someone who has finished a beginner course or been hacking away at some apps for a while, this has really helped me jump to the next level. Your mileage may vary depending on where you are on your swift/ios journey but this has been really great for mine.

Lots of get stuff. Very comprehensive course on building a large scale app. Wish there was a little more depth in Firebase topics, such as phone verification and Google Cloud Functions but overall a great course.
