This course is exactly what I needed. It is direct and to the point for teaching Firestore with iOS. I like the instructor's teaching style. One minor point is that it would be good to update the Authorization section where Google has slightly modified their API. But I was able to figure out the change without much difficulty. Great course. It's worth taking if you are going to be using Firestore with iOS.

The course is not updated with the latest version of Firestore. I know this is intended for beginners but I would like to suggest to start applying "real life" dev skills like services, better error handling, avoid force unwrapping, etc. I know the curse aimed for just Firestore but still, that would be an amazing plus. Besides that, it shows the basic stuff in a simple way.

This was a great course. Note that it hasn't been updated yet for Swift 5/XCode 10. There are also some updates to Firestore as well. However, none of these should be difficult for you to resolve other than handling Firestorm timestamps. My timestamp solution: let seconds = data[TIMESTAMP] as? Firebase.Timestamp ?? FieldValue.serverTimestamp() let timestamp = Date(timeIntervalSince1970: seconds.value(forKey: "seconds") as? TimeInterval ?? Date.init().timeIntervalSince1970) The only other thing I'd like is if each major section had a starter project with the UI components built; this would help the lessons focus on Firestorm and not take time building UI elements and their view controllers. What I really likes: handling security and cascading deletes; both of which are not obvious to a new user.

So far, I am getting a lot of clarity on how table views work. I like the narrative and feel like I am ready for more. This comment is after lesson 6. After lesson 13, No only am I learning about firestore (Really cool) but, I am learning some nice navigation tips. Worth the money

It is a very cool course for an absolute beginner (may be an intermediate) like me. App designed during this course-work is efficient and the lesson learned could be added to my current app as an open forum and or in-app discussion — great tutorial. The instructor is well paced, well spoken and engaging. Thanks. It could have been a great visual experience if the instructor could close the right-side pane during the coding. At the end of the course, the Instructor added 'protocol' and 'delegates' without much explanation of how protocols and delegates work. It could have been great if the app was designed using protocols from the beginning as I believe (I could be wrong) that we could have used the protocols for initializers.

Nice course. It covers all the basic topics in a direct manner and all lessons are easy to understand. If you are seeking an starter Firestore course, for sure, you’re in front of the best choice for such purpose. The sole critique I am able to say about the it is that, once finished, I felt a sort of affliction because the course does not take the topic a little further. Great teacher, lessons to the point and, for the record, you’ll learn to apply the knowledge acquired throughout the course in your own projects.

I will recommend this course to any iOS developer new in Firestore. Really engaging topics, with a real world app. I strongly recommend this instructor for non-english speakers. He has a really good pronunciation and he doesn't speak fast (neither slow!) He makes you engage easily to the explaining concepts.

This course is fantastic. Following the course I've decided to implement Firestore into my own project and its going well. The teacher JB is easy to watch and follow along too although in parts I did wish for a deeper explanation of things. I found a couple of instances where the code needed tweaking due to Firestore changes and no responses from Devslopes on the Q & A. The project being built in the course is a really good real world example of an iOS app that also follows MVC! :). Highly recommended.

I bought this course to learn the implementation and fusing of Firebase Auth and Firestore Database in my own app and so far this course is meeting my expectations. Jonny B is an excellent teacher! Edit: A year later, I retook this class just to refresh my memory on Firestore. Firestore is now out of beta so there will be a few things that have changed in terms of syntax but read the Q&A of every lesson to see if students have commented on solutions. I do hope JB does another Firestore class. He's a great teacher.

Firestore is still in beta, so the instructor should be more active in responding to the students questions, especially when the course is new. Some of the Firestore stuff seems really simple and easy while other parts are really complex, like the transactions and subcollection deletion. If you consult the google docs on this they really do not recommend that you use Swift. If was fun making a chat app in Swift. =:-)
