Hi, I’m Laurence Svekis, and I’m here to help you learn smarter, build real skills, and confidently use AI and modern tools to create amazing things.
I’m a Google Developer Expert (GDE), international speaker, author, and educator specializing in AI-powered learning, Google Workspace automation, and practical development with Google Apps Script and JavaScript. I’ve been teaching online since 2002 and have helped over two million students worldwide develop real-world skills through hands-on courses, books, and workshops.
My passion is learning with AI—using AI not as a shortcut, but as a powerful learning partner. I focus on helping learners understand how things work, how to apply AI responsibly, and how to build tools that solve real problems. Many of my courses explore how AI can act as a tutor, assistant, or productivity booster inside everyday tools like Google Docs, Sheets, and Workspace.
I’m especially known for:
Google Apps Script & Google Workspace automation
Building AI-powered assistants and learning tools
JavaScript for real-world applications
Using AI to improve learning, productivity, and workflows

Yes, the lesson contains the most basic topics which is suitable for me with no web development background.

Great overview with good links for follow up. Thank you, Laurence.

Generally a useful overview, but the production has a rushed feel to it. The sound quality on one of the early lessons isn't great and the "how the internet works" seems superfluous. The list of resources is excellent, and the level of guidance (as opposed to instruction) feels right. Good job.

For a beginner course, the instructor goes rather quickly. The pop ups are very distracting. I find that turning on the Closed Caption option helps a bit so I can read what he's rushing through. However, the CC doesn't accurately translate so you get some funny options for HTML! The instructor probably is a great Web Developer but he needs to remember this is a course for BEGINNERS. He lost me 1/3 of the way through by using terms I don't know and rushing through. Maybe after some outside research I'll come back to this and go through it again.

Great overview and introduction course. For me, this was the best and most complete by far. I highly recommend it to all those who want a quick start!

Short but good introduction to web development, a bit light to my taste.
