Course Description
New lectures added periodically to the course.
In this course you will learn how to develop games using Godot and its own scripting language: GDScript. We will start by learning how to use the language and keep moving on until we learn how to export and publish our games, this way you'll not only learn how to create 2D and 3D games, but also how to share them.
Godot is an awesome open source engine that gives us the ability to create awesome 2D and 3D games and export them to the Web, Linux, Windows, OSX, Android and iOS with a single code base! Since its open source release, the engine keeps gaining space and grows more each day. Right now is an awesome time to learn this new engine and grow with it!
This course is based on projects, this way you won't just learn how to use the functionalities provided to us by Godot, but also apply them on complete games. At the end of most modules, you'll be given assignments so you can overcome problems on your own and apply what you've learned thought out all of the modules.
All of the code and the projects created on the lectures are hosted on github repositories, this allows you to jump to any lecture by just downloading the project of the lecture and start from there, and compare your code to mine if you get stuck.
The assets used on the games are also provided to you so you don't have to spend any time looking for assets or creating them!
To top it all off, we also have a facebook group where you can interact with me and other students. There, you'll be able to post the games you've created and feedback on them, as well as taking part on challenges of game development that I'll host from period to period.
Join now, you won't be disappointed!

I started to create software when I was just a teenager. Since I started, I have used lots of different tools and created lots of things. Way before that I already knew I wanted to create games, and thus, I specialized on developing them. Now I want to share what I've learning with my students.
As a self taught learner myself, I know a few things that speed up the learning process and I strongly believe that learning by doing is the best way to learn, and that's the approach you'll see me using in my lectures.

I would say yes, it is indeed a good match to me especially I am new to switching to Godot as my main game engine. It has every fundamentals I need to create what games I want to build as game development is one of my interests. I may still watch tutorials for guide but the flow of the videos are accumulating concepts where it may include past topics that can be applied for each assignment. This helps on how will I intuitively interact with Godot until there is no need to watch a tutorial and fully grasp it.

whats good: 1. covered every aspect of 2d gaming 2. great explanations 3. very beginner friendly and many other good points whats not good: 1. Less focus on script in the later course 2. volume was low, I reported it as technical problem but it wasn't solved. When you are in learning process it gets little bit boring and you feel lazy and that's fine as it is just human nature but a low volume take this down a further and you feel lazy even faster A high volume sound keeps you awake.

Great course, the projects are very simple and easy to follow and, though we do not dive really deep in all the functionalities the software has to offer, I think that we touch every key subject that we need in order to be able to start making games with Godot. The only downside on my part is that, as of the time I took the course, my Godot version was greater than the one in the videos and I was experiencing bugs that did not seem to occur in the version of the video (warnings with unused values return from the connect() method, errors when queue_free()ing items that should have been queue_free()d within the call_defered() method or something, glitch with the perpetually scrolling elements, like the planks in the final project, which created a gap between the two planks in the long run, ...). It took me a lot of time to partially get rid of those bugs, and still my games aren't perfect. I would have liked to learn more about the very best ways to do things in Godot, but as I said, overall, I think we saw everything we need to have a general understanding of the software and the rest is up to us to go and learn and refine! Thanks for the great course.

This course was excellent. I learned a lot from it. I'd taken a course from another instructor before this that was utterly disappointing. This course turned me around on everything. It was engaging from the beginning and I appreciated how it wasn't watered down or boring. It covers both 2D and 3D development. I found that a lot of what was learned in the 2D sections applied in many ways to the 3D section. Just about everything I wanted to cover was in this course. One thing that was missing that I hope the instructor will add in the future is how to monetize our Godot games. He touches on it somewhat with itch.io and gamejolt but I was hoping for some information on how to add adds to my game or add in game purchases. If this instructor develops a more advanced course I will certainly take that course from him as well.

It is a great course, the instructor encourages you to follow the exercises and has a solid knowledge of Godot. I really enjoyed the course, but in some conferences, the instructor goes a little fast and does not explain some of the operations for the script. However, I will wait for other courses or new content, because it has been an excellent course.

Does an excellent job of explaining details on using Godot to a prior programmer. There are a few things that aren't explained; for the most part, the teacher elaborates on everything at a level sufficient for novice programmers to understand, but also for seasoned programmers not to get bored. Also, having resources is definitely a plus. Only major issue is with the volume; it's pretty low. (Also, one other thing. Maybe include a bit at the beginning on using the Editor Preferences to move where the game window spawns each time you start up the game. I had to figure that out online because it was bothering me; you'd get brownie points just for including it)

I really liked the course. It helped me to understand how to operate with Godot 3. The instructor is very pleasant to listen to and provides proper challenges to improve the understanding. The quality of the course is nearly perfect, though, the only downside I have seen so far is that the code is from time to time a bit redundant. But this is not a major thing, since refactoring is part of the development process and quality assurance. This is a solid course which is definitely worth the time and money.

I've finished watching the lessons and only skipped the 3D assignment for now. This is a beginner level course that will get you ready to develop cool games and continue your journey on your own. If you're new to Godot, you might have noticed how hard it is to find good quality lessons to study. Most of the available courses barely touch the content you get from reading the documentation. The audio is a bit low and I had to watch on max volume, but, other than that, I had no problems. And chances are you won't even have to worry about that (announcement says audio fix for the modules is coming). The course is well structured and project driven. The instructor shows you how to create the games as he designed them, but leaves enough room for improvement so you can work on your skills. And the most important... unlike most of the videos and courses (including some Udemy courses) I've found on Godot... the instructor actually knows what he's doing. If you enroll, make sure you stop by the Facebook group to post your work and check out what everyone else is doing!

This course is a good starting point to get into Godot and covers enough material to get you started. Guilherme is really responsive and looks actively into the assignment submissions and extends his help when you require it. I liked his attitude and teaching style. Now, that I'm done with the course it's time where I start playing around in Godot on my own and trying to figure out what other things can be done in it. And this course has given me enough confidence to do just that.

I am a professional software developer who wanted to learn Godot, and that is exactly what this course helped me to accomplish. The course is fast and teaches you a variety of important techniques. What could be improved is adding more content, especially to the 3D section, and going through some topics in a slower fashion for beginners (for example, how is delta usually used in game engines, and the common pitfalls of misusing it). It's possible that less experienced developers will struggle at some points, as I feel like the course is oriented more towards intermediate developers. There is plenty of room for an advanced Godot tutorial, which teaches you how to create a game of one genre, then of another genre, and so on, especially if it focuses on 3D games, which this course somewhat lacks. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more courses from this tutor, as he seems experienced, and is good at teaching.
