The course is exceptional, packed with a lot of valuable material. It is ideal for experienced programmers who want to learn Godot and GDScript. Beginner programmers will encounter a steep learning curve, but the course is still useful for those determined to study outside the course e.g. Godot reference and programming topics in general. If you use a chatbot, it will give you the answers to the source code snippets you do not understand plus other valuable programming tips.

I really enjoyed this Godot course and found it very helpful overall. The instructor explains most of the concepts well. However, from the standpoint of a seasoned software engineer, I sometimes felt that some things weren't given the attention they deserve / explained in enough detail or were completely overlooked. There were also a few moments where the solutions was a bit “hacky” or not like the cleanest approach, probably for the sake of keeping the lessons shorter. That said, I still learned a lot from the course and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get started with Godot.

Richard is very detail oriented and does a great job of explaining not only the "how" but also the "why." The course may feel a tad overwhelming if you're just looking for a soft introduction to Godot and just want to get things moving around and interactable asap; but if you want to truly understand the Engine and aren't afraid of some technical best practices, then this is the course you're looking for!

After going through several Godot courses, this one finally feels like it covers everything you need before you’re just told to type things without understanding them. You learn the why behind what you’re doing instead of just following steps like “put this here and it works.” That approach makes a huge difference, and I’m genuinely impressed so far. As I continue through the course, I’ll add my thoughts as a student for anyone considering it. There is a Discord for the course, and overall the community has been really helpful and respectful. The instructor also encourages students to reach out if they get stuck via email or Discord, which is great. However, I do think it’s important not to rely on that too heavily. Sometimes people may end up messaging or pinging the instructor frequently, and it’s worth remembering that they’re also supporting many other students at the same time. In a real development environment, you often won’t have someone available to constantly debug your code, so it’s a good habit to try solving problems first using Google, AI tools, and help from other students before reaching out. That mindset is closer to how real software development works. The instructor does speak a bit quickly at times, but he actually mentions this early in the course. Thankfully, Udemy lets you adjust playback speed, and slowing it down to 0.75x worked perfectly for me. So don’t let the pace feel overwhelming—you can easily adjust it. If you’re completely new, or even if you already have some programming experience like I did, I strongly recommend not skipping the GD Script Basics, GD Script Beyond the Basics, or Essentials sections. I understand the temptation to jump straight into building games, but if you rush through those fundamentals, you’ll likely end up confused later and constantly asking why your code behaves a certain way. You don’t need to master everything immediately, but having a solid understanding of the basics helps a lot. You’ll also find yourself revisiting those topics often. That’s what really sets this course apart from others. Many courses throw you straight into building a game, which is exciting, but often leaves you following instructions without understanding what’s happening under the hood. This course does a better job of building that foundation so you actually understand what you’re doing.

Loved this course! The instructor clearly knows his stuff, explains things super well, and genuinely seems to care about teaching. It was engaging and fun throughout. As a software engineer, I never felt bored or like anything was over explained. Big thanks for such a great course. I’m planning to build a few 2D games now and will definitely be coming back for the 3D course, absolutely loved his teaching style and overall vibe!

The first part of the course that is moved to GoDot 4.6 is absolutely worth 5 stars, still the last part is still a bit untidy but still very good. Of all the courses ive seen for 2D in GoDot this is by far the best. I am a seasoned developer and it had perfect detail level to actually learn how to code (even though for me it got a bit detailed at times but managable) so tumbs up! Good detailed walkthrough and a lot of exersizes to get everything into your fingers. One thing that bit me that i hope you fix in the future courses, is a signal is not prefixed on_ the listener are :D so a signal can be player_died and you typically connect that to a listener called on_player_died and it makes more sense naming wise :)

I was wary when I bought this course, because while I have a background in coding I wasn't sure how easily I could transition to a system that mixes graphics and coding. Richard did a great job making the concepts in Godot seem simple from the very beginning, he was always very positive, and was able to help hammer in the ideas with his use of increasingly complex challenges followed by examples of how he completed the challenges himself. After finishing this course, I feel like I have the ability to start making all the games that have only been in my head. For the details that I don't know, I can either look at examples from this course's games or I can look up. I'm very excited to start making my own games, and very happy to have completed this course. I might even move on to the Godot 3D version of this course so I can make my games even more like I imagine them. Thank you Richard and Martyna for such a great course!!!

As someone who has tried many Godot courses during my learning journey and often gave up at a certain point, I can honestly say this is by far the clearest and most instructive course I’ve taken so far. There are no gaps in the teaching flow, no superficial explanations. Everything is built step by step, like placing bricks one by one, which makes the learning process feel solid and sustainable. I truly can’t thank the instructor enough for this course.

Halfway through the course, and what can I say? The delivery is perfect. Richard is constantly updating the material, seriously, he’s always one step ahead, making sure nothing gets outdated and answering questions nonstop on Discord. If you want to learn Godot and truly understand it so you can create your own indie game, buy this course and stick with it until the end. I’ll update this review later with more details for anyone looking for extra info before purchasing the course.

Taking this course was definitely the right move for me. The lessons were well paced, relevant, and at times even funny. I found the instructor to have a good sense of humor and to be great at leading me through the course. I would absolutely recommend it. Also, the challenges were a great way to apply what was taught. Thank you, Richard, and everyone who helped create this course - you really knocked it out of the park! /Kristofers
