Parker Anderson

Heyo, Parker Anderson here, I've been making video games ever since I was ten; picked up a few things along the way. Hopefully you can learn a thing or two from me.

I've been teaching game development using the Godot Engine for three years. My previous courses and experience range from complete beginner to intermediate/advanced development with more advanced concepts such as networked multiplayer. I've published several games with Godot. Weaponeer, my most popular game, was featured by Game Informer and has been very successful.

I enjoy sharing the knowledge I learn, and I hope to help share that with the world.

Instructor Parker Anderson Excellent telling me how to make mistakes to be able to help myself. I need more courses from Parker AKA “plugworld”, please more old Atari games, especially Cosmic Ark. Thank you Udemy! Half way through and I am already asking for the next tutorial either on more Atari or an NES 8bit next, I just don't see many tutorials, that teach you to go on your own. The assets look great, I love the sound, I am not bored, I would have done well in a college course with this professor, who alters his voice to make sure he is more entertaining.

Instructor is knowledgeable and makes the class fun to learn. I would have given it five stars if there was a repo. Also, in some areas it would have been helpful to have more of a discussion on what was trying to be accomplished prior to jumping in. Regardless I would highly recommend this course as you get the in-depth knowledge of completing and fine tuning a full game.

Truly an amazing course, this one finally got Godot to 'click' with me! The instructor chose a seemingly simple game but showed how to add a ton of features/details in order to make a game that is fun to play. I also appreciated that the instructor will initially show a naive and obvious implementation, demonstrate the issues that this will cause, and then show the correct way to implement a feature. This helps students understand why they are implementing a feature in a particular way, rather than just following along and making a perfect game on the first shot. I now feel adequately prepared to take on my first gamedev project! Would love to see more advanced tutorials from this instructor in the future.

It was very good as an introduction to Godot and I think it would work well for beginner developers too. Episode 20 was tough to get through though due to the repetition and over explaining. I had to go away and come back to finish that one but every video before and after that one were excellent. I had two issues with the vocabulary which kept throwing me off and was sometimes very annoying. The first thing was that he kept saying "refill" when he meant "refuel" which caused typos whilst typing by following the audio rather than watching the other screen. The other thing is an annoyance that my son has also picked up from YouTube in saying "ekscape" instead of "escape" over and over in the final video. Great course overall and I highly recommend.

Amazing course, lots of tips and good programming practices, as someone said before, it starts pretty naive and simple with good explanations and initial needed setting, but later on, code refactories are needed along with a bunch of, new concepts, new mechanisms, new ways to do things, code separation, etc, that's when course really really shines!! I'm following it with the newest godot (4.4) version and very little things have changed, still good in 2025. Thanks a lot to the teacher, really good work!

I've spent some time learning from a lot of tutorials including GD Quest's latest courses and quite honestly this is, hands down, the best course so far. Things are explained in a progressive way, not just a scripted recipe. Some mistakes are fixed, refactoring needs doing, and so on. Although I would say, I wish someone would make something similar to "100 days of coding with Python" because there were tones of incremental exercises to solidify one's understanding, but hey, that's a huge undertaking. Anyway, all in all, totally worth it. Thanks!

I like that the course is not super long. I also like the enthousiasm of the instructor. The explanations are very clear and it feels like I can pick up this project and improve on it. With other, bigger 'beginner' projects here on Udemy I usually felt lost after a while and wouldn't have a clue where to start adding my own ideas, because the project was actually too big with too much advanced stuff already (big state machines, advanced uses of arrays, scripts in all kinds of places). This course/project seems to be designed well to learn as a beginner, but also to use as a beginner to add a few ideas of my own. It's also a great idea to base your beginner project an on old Atari game. As there are a lot more, I can browse through them and see if I can remake a different Atari game.

Due to the recent Unity changes, I recently embarked on a journey to expand my game development skills by transitioning from Unity to the Godot 4 Engine. While the prospect of learning a new engine can be daunting, I stumbled upon an absolute gem of a tutorial that made the entire process an absolute breeze. One of the standout features is the tutorial's hands-on approach. Instead of drowning learners in theoretical concepts, it throws you straight into the action, allowing you to see immediate results. The instructor's teaching style is commendable – clear, concise, and filled with enthusiasm. Complex topics are broken down into digestible segments, making even the most intricate Godot features accessible to newcomers. The tutorial strikes the perfect balance between depth and simplicity, ensuring learners don't feel overwhelmed while delving into the engine's powerful capabilities. KUDOS to Parker Anderson! I hope he continues to develop more courses in the future. Preferably with increasing difficulty / skill level. Thanks!

Easily one of the best Godot 4 courses on the site. I can't speak from the pov of a total beginner as I have made games in various engines over the years, but I am relatively new to Godot. It's clear this course would suit anyone with a basic grasp of the engine or programming in general. Furthermore, Parker is a fantastic teacher who goes right into details of how and why without leaving you scratching your head. I can't recommend this teacher enough, from start to finish was a joy.

I'm a complete beginner to Godot and coding (and game development). I tried some other courses, but i think they where kinda "lame". :) This course on the other hand is not "lame" - it's actually really awesome and fun. The way the instructor actually takes his time and explain in detail what is going on is so valuable. Even things he has shown once before he still takes the time to explain again. I really like this approach since I don't even remember what I ate for breakfast today - so I surely don't remember what coding or game dev practice I saw hours (if not days) ago. The instructor is very charismatic and makes the course very memorable. If you are a complete beginner and want to learn the basics of Godot you should really consider going with this course. 5 out of 5 stars!
