Course Description
gRPC is a new and modern framework for building scalable, modern and fast API. It is leveraged by many top tech companies such as Google, Square & Netflix and enables programmers to write micro-services in any language they want while keeping the ability to easily create communications between these services. It relies on Protocol Buffers for the transport mechanism and Service Definition language.
In this course, we are going to explore in-depth, with hands-on lectures, all the aspects to get started with gRPC
This course is hands-on and you will implement two services: Greet and a Calculator Service
In just a few hours, you will know everything you need to know to write your .proto files, generate code in your Favourite Programming, and implement your services, servers, and client in .NET. There will be plenty of hands-on lectures and exercises for you to practice your newly acquired skills.
It's time to say goodbye to slow and clunky REST API, and opt-in for a better API framework
gRPC C# Master Class is the best way to get a great overview of all the possibilities offered by gRPC with your favorite language

One of the better courses here on Udemy, although not perfect. I still give 5 stars to distinguish it from all the other *beep* courses here that for some reason still get good reviews. Nice learning experience; I now have enough to continue. At some point things get a bit repetitive (sections 6 - 8), because a lot of the boilerplate code is entered again and again. In the SSL section it gets a bit fuzzy. Too many details are missing. Section 10 does not really add something that was not already covered before.

I would like to have a better deep-dive journey because most examples are quite trivial. Moreover, the course was not updated to more fresh versions of .Net. The topic of authentication was not covered at all, but I reckon that this is a crucial part of such a small course. Do not waste your money on that, rather go to the official documentation examples and go one by one. It will serve you better. I had a lot of courses on Udemy during the past months and this definitely not the best in terms of price and value.

Easy to follow, sections are terse and give just enough info to get started on your own. My only wish is that the theory sections could be a little more in-depth. Personally, I enjoy understanding the tools at a much deeper level more than the implementation. With a better understanding of how gRPC works, fundamentally, it would help me make better design decisions for my applications/projects. Overall I recommend the course, especially for beginners.

I think It was an amazing course and really innovated. I suggest you to add some basics resources links for students whom has no backend experience like me, I considered I had to read a lot about API RESTful in order to apply gRPC technology. In the en was really excited and I'm implementing gRPC in work which is so great so far. Thank you very much.

Pretty good course overall, but I did pick it just by the title and didn't realize it would start by the very basics. Because of the "Master Class" in the name I thought it was more aimed at people that are already familiar with gRPC and just want to learn more advanced features, or how to architect a more complex gRPC service(s). So the only "negative" feedback I would give is that the title might be a bit misleading (or maybe that's just me). Anyway, great course, congratulations and keep it up :)

This is a good course if you want to learn the basics of gRPC with C#.It is easy to follow along and understand the instructors. The last section on MongoDB and CRUD was mostly just a recap of what you had already learned earlier in the course. I had some difficulties with setting up the auto-recognition of proto files in VS. What the instructors showed just didn't work with my VS. But, all in all, a very good course.

This course gave a very good overview for GRPC with C#. It was divided between Stephane who talkes more about the theory and Clement who shows how it is implemented in C#. Both are not native speakers, so they both have an accent (more so at Clements sections), but I had no trouble understanding them and follow along. I already know C# and it is important that you do have some basic skill in it, but that is also mentioned in the intro. I think I can take away the basics that I need to start with GRPC in C#. The course is limited to the communication between a c# client and a c# server. Although one chapter demonstrates how the proto files can be used in another language. What I would have liked is a demo on a best practice for how microservices communicate with each other and what the advantages and drawbacks would be. Also a consumation from a web client would have been nice (at least as far as it is supported). What I didn't like is, that Clements ignored the compiler warnings for the override methods on the server, that he should avoid using async when not calling await. I would have liked to see his solution on that. Other than that it was very well demonstrated and clear enough, so thank you to you both.

I Liked that the course was concise, and to the point. A couple of things I didn't like though: 1. We didn't take an in-depth look at the auto generated code :( also, in the course 3 nuget packages were used, but we never knew what each of them is responsible for! Understanding what's under the hood is important for a developer. 2. It would have been a great plus (at least for me) if there was a "hands on" with web app, instead of just console app, because typically one would migrate a rest api web app to grpc. But overall, it was good, and thanks to Stephane Maarek and Clément Jean :)

This was a great class. I learned so much. I went from not knowing much about gRPC to writing gRPC based microservices using C#. The class is a mix of theory and hands-on teaching (with one teacher handling the theory and the other handling the code). If I could ask for one change (or addition) -- it would be to add a section or two on grpc web, grpc gateway and/or nginx's native ability to proxy grpc requests. Thanks for putting this together! great course...

I did not gain a lot from the tutorials in comparison to the documentation, available at grpc.io. In addition: - the examples are not in .Net Core, which is not serious for 2020 - I did not see any recommendations on real world architecture, for example how to work in load balanced environment or how to share .proto files between server and client. Evans examples were good, but it's a CLI. I'd like to know how to have a single .proto file on a remote server, being accessible for the clients without copy pasting and manual updates.
