Course Description

Every professional designer who wants to be marketable MUST know Adobe Illustrator, the industry standard software for drawing icons, logos, and vector artwork. Vectors are the curves that you draw with Illustrator, and they can be enlarged many times over without loosing quality, unlike raster art, which uses pixels on a grid, and distorts if it gets too large. Illustrator's vector files can be exported to raster formats, like .
jpg, .
gif, or .
png, for projects that need them, like websites. I'm Joseph Caserto, a graphic designer with over two decades of professional experience, and I've been creating vector artwork that whole time. In this course, I'll help you master the basics of drawing simple vector shapes. Once you've got those essentials down, we'll move on, and use them to help you learn more intermediate ones. You'll build a solid foundation, which you can use beyond the course, to develop your own projects that showcase your skills in this application that's critical to know if you're going to be competitive in the professional design world.
What You'll Find InsideA curriculum that lets students build confidence and skills by starting with essential techniques, moving on to fundamentals, and finishing with advanced methods.
Downloadable files for students who want a hands-on learning experience, allowing them to follow along with lectures.
Six hours of instruction through 50+ high-quality, downloadable HD videos that have clear audio and easy to see menus and windows.
A quiz at the end of each section so students can review their knowledge before moving on. Who this course is for:
Graphic designers interested in producing logos, icons, and symbols.
Illustrators and fine artists who want to create vector artwork.
Web and UX designers who want to create vectors for elements like icons and wireframes.

Well-paced and adequately detailed for beginners. This course is perfect for a foundation in Illustrator and to explore more. Totally loved the content and teaching style!

The instructor Joe was very methodical and easy to understand. A few of the things he covered were a bit extraneous to what I need to learn, but, overall, he did a great job teaching the course!

It's alright so far and eye catching, but I'm ready for more.

Great from no experience to refreshing one's memory of how the functions work in Illustrator. Basic, but thorough overview, which is what I needed to be able to move on to advanced work more efficiently.

By Daniel Deeringer on 9/4/2017

very informative for a beginner

I fully enjoy the presentation that the instructor is giving. He goes slow enough that I can take notes and completely understand each concept.

By Donna Gintz on 2/15/2017

Easy to follow along.

Good coverage of all the commonly used illustrator tools, and how to use them effectively. Instructor does a great job smoothing over the rough edges helping you to be more effective with these tools. My only negatives are that I would like to seen more. Maybe a few more student projects or links to other resources or, added lessons for additional illustrator tools.

By Cecilia Amaral on 10/26/2015

I liked the way the instructor "built" the reveal of functions. I feel that I now have enough to start creating my own files and later continue to explore additional functions etc.
