This was helpful. A few comments and suggestions: (1) Some of the changes were made very quickly and you have to pause the video to see what was being done. (2) It would be useful to see some videos on using Visual Studio Java-npm with stand-alone installations of node-red (3) There are some differences between the version of node-red that I installed in 2023-Aug and the version used in the course. Additionally the IBM service no longer has a free or trial option. This is why I went for the stand-alone installation.

While some of the complaints about this course are valid, it is a comprehensive and complex course. Take your time, work back and forth from the course to the node-red development environment, and you will be rewarded. Have a few problems related to not getting on the node-red cloud.

3 out of 5 for below 2 reasons 1) Very Fast - As a beginner one of the most important thing for me is, Slow and steady style of learning. However, the instructor is fast Drag and drop the nodes, connect, deploy and Inject. All these 4 steps need to go smoothly. The instructor is fast which I didn't feel comfortable at times. I tried the speed of 0.5X but it's not easy to get along. 2) Also in some sections, there is no proper introduction of nodes and the instructor straight away starts using them in the project.

According to the title of the course it is an intro to Node-RED, but it is a lot more than that. It will not only get you familiar with the title product, but will also give you a primer on numerous modern web technologies, like IBM cloud services, web APIs, http methods, MQTT and more. I also liked the assignments, as they force you to review the stuff you just heard about. Moreover, the instructors included a ton of additional resources for you to read, so if you want to take full advantage of the course, read all additional resources and do the assignments as well. You'll be more than satisfied with the progress you made in the end, I'm sure.

I enjoyed the course. I believe I've learned a lot about NodeRED from a foundational perspective which should serve me well moving forward. I did abandon the IBM Cloud platform at one point. The videos/text seem very out of date (understandably). I could not get the mathjs import working but was able to do so running locally in Windows 10. And in section 4 where we do the weather station with Slack/Watson, the location finder has been deprecated. The last section was a marathon run. I slogged through it but because so much seemed out of date I had to improvise or just watch the vid and absorb. The screen demos were WAY WAY WAY too fast. It may seem obvious to the instructor what she is doing but it wasn't to me yet. I slowed some of the vids down to .5 speed and still had to pause frequently. There is a LOT of material in the Additional Reference. It's nice but the course felt was very dependent on those materials. I would've preferred the course stand on it's own more. The few refreshers included were nice but too many times I had to use the Additional Resources or Google to figure out what was happening. Being a little spoon fed info is why I buy these tutorials rather than just googling :) All in all I think it is a good course. Anyone who takes it should understand that the video length is no indication of your commit. There is a lot of work to do beyond the vids.

This has been one of the Udemy courses that I have enjoyed the most. It is both complete, detailed and very enjoyable. The didactic experience is excellent. It is definitely one of the best courses to learn Node-Red.

Makerdemy seems to always have superbly laid out classes that are well organized. Thanks again for another good class.

It's good but there are some loop holes in the section. The resources what you are talking about is not even present in the resource section. There are certainly different resource other than the stated in video. Sometimes the video are so fast that I am unable to understand or read what you are working. I think you have decrease duration of course but indeed you have decrease the importance of certain topic. Please make it long and good so that, user can understand easily. Not everyone come a masterful ground or experience what you have. It takes times and patience. Lastly please update your resource section. I am good in python but not that entirely in curl or java script and all. Please re-consider this thing

Doing the assignments has strengthened my grasp of certain Node-Red concepts. I am now confident in building my Node-Red applications.
