Our take

Based on the ratings of 64 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in April 2023. No course pays to be reviewed.

TechLynk Selenium's Java course is a short, Java-only class for manual testers who want to move into automation. It runs 7.7 hours across 44 lectures and 11 sections, and it assumes no coding background. The syllabus covers setup, data types, methods, loops, object-oriented basics, a long collections section, interview FAQs and array coding problems. It does not teach Selenium or any other tool, even though the headline mentions them. About 517 students are enrolled, and the last update was April 2023.

Reviews are split. Of 64 ratings, 41 are four or five stars, and the happy ones say the basics are well defined and the logic is easy to follow. A few of the recent five-star reviews are vague, though. The complaints are more specific. Several reviewers struggle with the English and accent, one says the speech is fast and there are typos, and another says the examples repeat without explaining why things work. One calls it an introduction to arrays with no real testing content.

At 3.8 stars it is a middling pick, not a standout. It makes sense as a quick first pass if you want collections and interview questions in one place and can follow the accent. People who learn from explanations of why, or who want examples drawn from testing work, will likely want a deeper course.

Best forManual testers with no coding background who want core Java, collections and interview questions before starting Selenium.
Skip it ifYou want clear explanations of why Java works as it does, or any hands-on testing examples.

Pros

  • Collections section runs about 2.5 hours across 14 lectures
  • Closes with Java collection interview FAQs and five array coding problems
  • Starts from zero, with setup and installation walked through step by step
  • Short at 7.7 hours, so it works as a quick first pass over core Java

Cons

  • Several reviewers struggle with the accent and fast, typo-filled delivery
  • Despite the title, reviewers find no real testing content in the lectures
  • Low-star reviews say examples are repetitive and explanations are thin
Basics are well defined. Thanks for helping me to understand the logic more easily

Listed as All Levels, but it really suits beginners. Zero coding is fine, though explanations stay shallow.

Test automation is a key aspect of modern software testing. This course explores the basics of Java-based test automation frameworks like Selenium WebDriver to automate repetitive testing tasks.

By Lana Sophie on 4/6/2024

This course recognizes that testers don't necessarily need to become full-fledged Java developers. It likely tailors the curriculum specifically towards the Java knowledge most essential for software testers.

By Ovidiu Mureșan on 4/5/2024

Great course for testers on java. Nice explanation by the instructor. I like this course very much.

By Keerthi S on 4/5/2024

Amazing course. It was a wonderful training session and only thing I want to add is I want this videos of the lectures.

By Matt Dymond on 3/19/2021

After completing the course the overwhelming feeing I get is that the instructor doesn't understand the things he's teaching as there is no explanation of why things are the way they are. The course is padded with repetitive examples that do not contribute to a student's understanding and felt like it dragged even on 2x speed.

By mark Mu on 8/29/2020

Some easy parts are redundant, some important part explained very implicit. Such as the diff between protected and default methods are lack of examples. And the data structure for array is too fast

By Pete Wilson on 8/26/2019

Despite the title there is no content related to "testing". Using the word tester is a substitute for "beginner". It does cover a few concepts, but would accurately titled as an introduction to Arrays.

By Manas Kumar on 7/25/2018

It was a wonderful training session and only thing I want to add is I want this videos of the lectures.

By Göran Öst on 7/23/2018

Are there no native English spoken Java for tester training's out there? This is the second try and even if I also am a non native English person I have a hard time to understand Indian accents (sorry). I will move on in my quest to find one. I'm sure the content is fine but if I can't understand the accent its of no use to me.

By Glen on 1/23/2018

It's actually a great work for providing us with the insight of Java & Oops concepts. As a beginner I learned how to implement it and use Java for my work ahead. Looking forward for more videos.!!
