Course Description

Update 7/21/2023: Added an article lesson with a zip showing how to make a simple platformer game using Windows Forms and C#.

Update 7/20/2023: Some Unity Scripts are also now added . These are good for beginning learners. They are all heavily commented so it's very important to read all the comments to understand what the code is doing. They're on the bottom in article form.

Update 7/19/202023: Added on bottom a zipped up C# project that amounts to a customer calendar generator. I haven't made videos on this yet, as I lack the time.

  • Dynamic calendar generation based on selected months, days, and year.

  • Month and day selection using CheckedListBox controls.

  • Year selection using a NumericUpDown control.

  • Copying text from a top RichTextBox to all corresponding RichTextBoxes in the calendar.

  • Clearing text from all RichTextBoxes in the calendar.

  • Zoom control using a TrackBar to adjust the calendar size.

  • Font size adjustment using a separate TrackBar for the RichTextBoxes' font size.

Update 7/19/2023: Added on bottom a zipped up C# project that creates a draggable text box whose location and content are saved between form loads. It's a sticky note basically for Windows Forms. I have not yet made videos on this, as I lack the time but the code has a lot of rich comments.

Update 7/18/2023: On the bottom is a C# Game Project in a zipped up file. I HAVE NOT had the time to make videos of this project. The GameForm project has been meticulously documented with detailed comments to help learners understand the purpose and functionality of each line of code. Here's an overview of how the lines of code are heavily commented. You play a character that has to avoid three little monster moving around on the screen. It's about 260 lines of code.

Dear aspiring coders,

Very good teaching skill! Talented and skilled presenter. Very good teaching technique. Really would love to work with this guy! :)

the rating is low only because of the naming of the videos, it's confusing and makes it hard to quickly find the wanted video later. I would recommend renaming them so we can use them as helpful resources. but in general, I would recommend this course to a friend.

The tempo of the class is great. I really like that he pauses so that you can actually practice what was just talked about.

i would rate the whole course with 5 stars . the first course i found good . your way of taking the learner deep enough in programming structure is very unique . i have attended many courses for programming languages but this is the first course that i found it useful specially for those who have idea about programming but don't know how to start . i wish you can make more courses because this kind of interferring practice with theory is really useful and rare on internet .

As with his many other courses, the instructor presents the material to be mastered in an eminently practical, no nonsense and concise manner. I appreciate the fact that each lesson focuses on understanding how to accomplish a specific task, such as manipulating various Windows forms properties, instead of haphazardly discussing several unrelated topics that could cause confusion. Also, the instructor often pauses the lesson and challenges the student to solve a particular problem or accomplish a task related to application development. This is a pedagogically sound method of testing student comprehension and mastery of the subject matter. Learning by doing is far more effective, in my estimation, than ingesting large amounts of esoteric and theoretical information that doesn't directly help the student to acquire application building skills needed in the real world. I have already completed several other courses in C# authored by this instructor and although at this early stage all of the material is completely familiar to me, it is nevertheless quite helpful to me to review the many different things one needs to know well in order to create a functional Windows Forms application. Especially now that I am deep diving into Python 3, I don't want to forget all that this instructor has imparted to me in the other courses I have taken from him. I am thoroughly enjoying the lessons in this course and feel they are of substantial benefit to me in that they provide an opportunity for me to acquire and master very important and practical skills that perhaps someday I will be able to use in a work environment. Even if I never get to apply what I'm learning in this course on the job, it's still well worth it because the acquisition of knowledge develops and improves one's mind and cognitive abilities. NEVER STOP LEARNING!!

I like the instructors different approach to the course. Covers a lot of reference material and some of the Visual Studio features I wan't aware of till now, I have high hope for the rest of the course.

I took this teacher's VB.NET course because he was so phenomenal. He doesn't just lecture, he talks you through how you should think, and he does it in a sequential way that builds your understanding and doesn't assume that you will just magically understand. He also seems to answer questions as you have them. I really wish he'd do some classes on more advanced concept in VB.NET. Interfacing with hardware that uses VB or C# manufacturer supplied libraries would be very welcome.

Great for web developers that have to learn C# and Visual Studio. A lot easier using label names and a graphical interface than learning console apps. Good lessons plus examples that you can easily build on and learn more. Of course not perfect. A few mistakes but with good enough examples and content so you can easily identify and resolve. I recommend Toms courses. I have purchased at least 6 over the last ten months. Look forward to more and updates if possible.

yes i have been learning working project with win forms just drag drop looking in properties this explains, makes things much clearer

Engaging. Right to the point. Plenty of tips,. Covers -very nicely- not only the C# content described in the curriculum, but also goes trough the most used controls in a windows form, from menus, text, progress bar, combo and list boxes. all the way to the mighty data grid. I just finished it, looking forward to the additional content which at this point is still in progress. in my opinion, it is a five stars course. Thanks a million Tom.
