Course Description

In this course, we're going to be exploring the process of modeling and hand painting a rickety old cabin! We'll start off by reviewing the concept art and blocking out some base shapes, and from there jump into the wonderful world of UV unwrapping. Next, we'll be taking a look at the different stone, metal, and wood surface types we'll be painting, discuss and decide where we can save some texture resolution by sharing UV space, and then get moving on bringing the texture and visual look and feel of this low-poly cabin to life!

(Students - please look under Section 1 / Lecture 1 downloads for the source files associated with the lesson.)

It is really good training.I dont have ability to paint by hand. I am just fallowing the video. I just bought it to learn how its done by hand. He makes really detailed and a good way with clear explanation. If you dont have ability hand painting its kind of difficult to fallow it, you can just watch it how its done, but if you have ability about it , It is really good training.

Very straight forwards, easy fast methods with great results. The only issue (and it's a tiny one) is it uses a much older version of Maya, but that is also good in the way it forces you to find out how the more improved versions, newer tools work. The key to getting better faster, is making sure the core skills are there. As an animator, I haven't modelled for 12 years, so this was a brilliant introduction back into modelling again.

The techniques and knowledge shared is great, Ryan really knows his stuff, especially painting in Photoshop. The only complaint I have is that the software shown is 2014 versions and some features are different in today's releases, such as the "cut" tool in Maya.

Informative, helpful and good step by step without being boring. Also, it's nice to see the little mistakes the teacher makes and corrects during the video, feels more like its a live course.

This is a fun project over all. The modeling process is explained rather well, but I felt that the UV layout section was vague. I would like seen more information regarding UV layout. This class is also taught in Maya 2014 which is quite different than 2017. Most of the tools Ryan uses to model have been renamed or removed from the UI. I would not advise beginners take this course, but for more experience users of Maya this project is a lot of fun!

Great course. Highly informative. It's gonna take me a while to get up to the same speed of painting as Ryan. A little tip for the modelling in Maya part: A lot of times he uses 'undo' to change the size of the bevelling, but you can easily adjust these sort of things interactively in the 'construction history'.

it goes by pretty quick since this is 3d motive not really designed well for collaborative talks and the teacher might not even work at 3d motive anymore so hard to get answers or ask questions. I would recomend for someone who knows modeling well sense this is a higher level.

This man is a GENIUS!! My mind was blown in this module. I have been struggling with Shingles on the majority of my models, and he just laid it all out for me. AMAZING VIDEO, AMAZING MODULE. Great investment.

I loved this course a lot. For an aspriring 3d texture artist like me, this is really a base guide to learn photoshop hand painted textures. Concepts learnt in this course can be easily applied to one's own creations.I would really like to thank the instructor Ryan for an awesome course. Looking forward to more courses !!

I find this course extremely helpful when someone's making his first steps in painting textures. I'd like to recommend it to everyone, who's into nicely stylized hand-painted style
