I've been making films and doing visual effects on indie films for over 15 years. When I discovered Unreal Engine 4 I was blown away by it's realistic real-time rendering engine! I immediately saw that Unreal Engine (UE4) was a game changer and that it had now become possible for a small studio consisting of a few artists to pull off a Hollywood quality feature length animated film!
In the past it would take hours, if not days, to render each frame of an animation, which made it impossible for an independent artist to complete a full length film. It would literally take years to render all the frames of a movie!
All this has changed with Unreal Engine 4 - the playing field has been leveled and it is now truly up to the talents and skill set of the artist/storyteller to create their vision. No longer will you be held back due to limitations of technology.
Join with me as we begin a journey in using this awesome tool-set - I think you will find it not only fun, but extremely satisfying on a creative level.

It's clear, straight forward and easy to follow to learn the foundation of Cloth Animation.
I would give 5 stars if we could have an overview of some more advance techniques as the use of animation Blueprints including Blueprints for gluing together character parts after retargeting, dynamic solutions for low LODs, faking dynamics in higher LODs with procedural animation techniques.

Knew absolutely nothing about the issue, and it sounded very complicated. After this course, I know it was not. Amazing engine, perfect teacher.

This course is listed at a 2.5 hour running length, but a lot of that is because the instructor completely retreads things he's already taught multiple times. The content of this course could have been summed up succinctly in a 30 minute video or less.
What actually is covered is good info, though currently (08/12/2020) it is out of date. The cloth interface has changed in the newer versions of Unreal, but it wasn't hard to follow along despite that. The method he shows for creating custom collision meshes is also not necessary in newer versions of Unreal.
Also, at the end of the course there are some odd instructions tacked on about how to get DAZ Studio characters into Unreal. I just wanna say that you should be very cautious about adding DAZ characters to any interactive project you plan on doing, since they do place a lot of restrictions on using their content for that sort of thing, unless you purchase special interactive licenses from them. If they're smart, they'll do away with that, and consider putting out lower poly versions of their content for game engines, but at present I don't think DAZ is a very good option for most game creators. I think Character Creator is better geared toward gaming than DAZ Studio.

Extremely redundant, long chunks of non informative staring at the screen, sleepy narration and most of all - it's outdated.

By Andrea Mangione on 6/17/2020

not so much content!

By Aaron Pfau on 5/22/2020

Very clear explanations, was up and running really quickly, ty, ty! Definitely recommend using the UE4 versions specified by the instructor, the current (4.23-4.24) versions are very buggy for cloth sims.

By Dave Polcino on 5/16/2020

Very solid. A lot of fun too, so it goes very quickly. Perhaps a little more detail on some of the settings that we may use even though the tutorial doesn't. For instance, mentioning "there is a way to unpaint cloth weights" but then not telling us...
Also, when physics blow up, don't say, "Wow, look how great this looks!" :-)

By Gary Dixon on 5/4/2020

Questions I have had for so long have been answered. I didn't expect to learn about creating physics assets, so that was a major bonus. The instructor does an outstanding job of making complex information easy to follow and understand.

Little tricks that you may not know, overall very good, somewhat deep inside clothing system in ue4

By Chris McAuley on 4/13/2020

I always learn an incredible amount from Michael's courses. As a Game Programmer dipping my toes into an understanding of the physics and animation of the Unreal engine his series is invaluable.

By Tommy Drger on 4/2/2020

this guy explains nothing.. there are view min max values.. smoothing tools.. gradient tools.. nothing.. the title says "advanced" cloth sim.. 240 bucks? for this?

By Marco Loureno on 2/18/2020

Straight to the point and everything required to know what I'm doing was adequately explained. Thank you a lot!
