Course Description

Wordpress is one of the revolutionary products from the first wave of internet which is still relevant and going strong. Originally created as a means of enhancing the typography of everyday writing, Wordpress is currently the most used self-hosted blogging tool in the world. Wordpress gives users the power to create a fully interactive website without having to focus too much on coding. It gives them the option of selecting themes, color schemes, images and even incorporate different social media aspects to their website.

The most interesting aspect of Wordpress, making it one of the most popular platforms to use, is the Wordpress Plugins. The Plugins are basically extensions that can be added to the blog or website to make it more interactive and responsive. These could be widgets that allow Facebook integration or a built in photo gallery, etc.

Even though WordPress comes with a wide range of already built in plugins, there are many different innovative plugins that are still required to make the website better and easier for the users. If you’ve got any new ideas for plugins, then we’ve got the knowledge you need to bring them to life.

Our course has been designed to give you the basic knowledge you need to start creating your very own plugins. The course has been structured around basic languages like PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery to start making the plugins and will also break down concepts such as Wordpress CMS (Blog System), PHP, OOP/Classes, JSON APIs (Fetch data from different APIs), Project Structuring (how to set up our files and structure them), Taxonomy, Widgets, Custom Post Types, SQL Query and XAMPP/Apache.

Not only will this Wordpress tutorial breakdown the fundamental concepts, but it will also help you understand the development process by making 10 interesting projects with you to learn the plugins from scratch. With so much potential, there is absolute no reason for you to not start learning this course. Enroll now and start creating the WordPress plugins you want!

A lot of "old" descriptions and code! Social media (Facebook and Instagram) no longer work! Most of the lectures are "cut and paste" with very little learning potential. The course not worth the full price unless it's the special pricing in which case you might glean a little plugin development techniques if you buy it (like I did)

This course contain a wealth of material to learn concerning building basic to intermediate level WordPress plugins. I like Brad's style of teaching and I have took many courses taught by him. The only thing that really bothered me is the lack of explanation in many instances of the code he is using. You feel in many instances he is writing the code without explanation and you have to go and search the WordPress codex in order to learn what the functions actually do. Another thing is that in some lectures the audio maximum volume is low and viewing the course on mobile devices is a quite frustrating. The whole philosophy of platforms such as Udemy is that you should be able to learn on the go so all the courses should be tailored to mobiles devices (i.e. larger font or zoomed in/out code and lighter background)

The course has a lot of stuff in it and I've learnt a fair bit however there are times when I think the Wordpress functions could be explained more in depth rather than just being typed out. Also there is a missing video at the end of the last plugin that seems to have just been overlooked.

I'm learning a lot about plugin development and WordPress. The instructor isn't the clearist when it comes to why he uses certain things. I like this as it makes it fast, and you can look at the docs for more explanation. Given that, it's not such a great course if you're completely new.

I've been thinking about a personal project which was going beyond my knowledge. I knew there was a option in custom post types, taxonomy's and so on but I couldn't get my head around it. With this course it's way more clear and I'm lookin' forward to the next steps. :)

Great content that builds a little more on each lesson. Some people down-rated because the author is frequently correcting coding mistakes, but I find that useful to see his debugging style. Would be 5 stars if he gave a little bit more explanation of the parameters passed to the various functions.

Great course. The instructor shows in a clear 'step by step' way how to develop several kinds of WordPress plugins. A little bit more background about how and why some thing work as they work would be welcome, but a second course I bought (from another instructor) filled this gap.

I am at project 10 so just one to go, I had to brush up WP development skills and this is a very great course for getting going with plugin development, Brad is very good at explaining how to build professional plugins, most of the code is procedural (now sure about last project) so it would be nice to add a couple of projects with plugin inizialization / OOP in plugins and some other advanced features. Hope this will be added, I am pretty confident after the course to build good quality plugins for my wordpress sites!

Presenter goes a little too fast through some things and does not explain WordPress functions very throughly. You can tell he's been doing this a long time and may think that some things are too simple to be explained. I have been a .net developer for 2 years, and if it were not for this, I would be completely lost. I'm hoping that through repetition I will be able to learn the core WordPress hooks, actions, and filters. Overall its not bad. I just keep having to use the pause and rewind button. My recommendation would be to take a basic php course before jumping into this one. There are a couple free ones on Udemy right now.

I thought the course was an excellent course that showed how to use plugins for Widgets, Posts, and Settings. During the course, the teacher made some errors. Some of them were obvious and I want to tell him on the screen that he was changing the wrong code. Others were not obvious. The nice thing is he left the mistakes in the video so we could see what happened and how to fix it. I hate courses where they fix the mistakes but don't tell you what the mistake was or how they fixed it. A couple of things were not discussed which I tought would have been helpful. One was the date picker not being available on all browsers and how to solve it. This was not too bad to find the answer on but the other one that was a pain to find and took several days for me to find the answer was how to make some of the admin setting available to a non-admin person. Turns it out it requires filtering the options_page_capability function. But it was an excellent course.
