This course is awesome! coding this nice App in a fun environment will help you brush onto your D3Js skills! Like instructor says, you improve (or refresh) your coding skills by DOING. In addition, instructor's voice is friendly, caring, great course! Looking forward to getting some more! Hat's off to you

Was decent. Sadly lots are outdated with the release of v4 but managed to figure out with some Googling. There was some things though that just didn't work and even with his source code (with the older library) it just didn't work. Oh and I found myself watching the course on 2x speed because my brain is used to processing much higher speed speech

Not very satisfied, I'd like to see more general overview of the D3 provided possibilities (e.g., overall what kind of shapes defined/what kind of charts/maps etc.). In addition, the training is outdated and don't match with the 4th version of D3. But thanks for the practical part, it was interesting. As I mentioned, it could be more explaining - e.g. by showing where you get the functions you're using, why specifically those etc.

Beginning is promising, with enough time spent on course overview and basic setup, but as the course progresses, I got the impression that instructor is just rushing through the lectures. No explanation is given on how and why. Regardless of that, I still find the course quite useful.

First, it should be made clear that you cannot go to d3JS web site and download the latest d3.js. Many things in version 4 do not work the same as when this video was made. Also, it would be nice to have an explanation on what the teacher is typing. I can follow his lead, but didn't really learn anything other than syntax.

This course is very well put together. It follows a logical progression that is easy to understand. Instructor does a great job in presenting the materials by explaining what he is doing using real world examples. I like that he did not edit out mistakes that were made while coding. This helps in understanding what to do when I make my own mistakes. I highly recommend this course especially for those that are new to programming and web development.

Starts out very well in the first few sections explaining why d3 is doing what it is doing so that I can use it for what I need it for, but devolves somewhat in the later sections in just feeding us syntax without much context into why d3 renders the webpage in the way it does. I'm thinking specifically about the axes section; there are many questions that pop up like "Why is he doing this in this way?" that go unanswered in the lecture, and would need to dig it up elsewhere. For example, why do you need a selectAll('path') AND a selectAll('line') in the hGuide and vGuide, respectively? Why have separate scales for both the Y axis/Vertical axis, and X axis/horizontal axis? Why do you need to pass hGuide into hAxis? That being said, a majority of the course does go thru this kind of detail, which I appreciate and is not found elsewhere in other d3 courses

A brilliant course that covers all the important aspects of D3JS and how to create beautiful visual visualizations using this amazing software. It has allowed me to completely revamp my website by allowing me to incorporate beautiful visuals to it. A must course for anyone who wants to learn how to create interactive graphics.

I was actually recommended this course by a fellow colleague who had previously taken this course. It is safe to say I am not disappointed at all. The style of presentation and the content covered was brilliant. I was extremely happy with the instructor and his knowledge of the subject. He clearly explained all the important functions. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course to someone else. Keep up the good work.

This course finally brought some light what part of code belong to SVG, Java Script and D3 itself. But in the middle of Scales chapter the lector stopped to explain what and why he is coding on the beginner level as he did in previous chapters. Thus you will really need to learn Java Script function expressions, scope and maybe IIFE and other patterns to understand how to write D3 constructions rather than copying over instructions in the course without deep understanding what is happening under the hood. My project is much more complicated than last chapter, so I still need to go to the official D3 documentation and do Java Script Fundamentals course to write D3 code myself. That course is not enough to start using D3 in my working projects. Just to be fair: other D3 courses on Udemy do not explain function attributes, function expressions, scope etc as well. So if you are newbie with D3 and JavaScript, it is worth to learn JavaScript first on the level of understanding third party framework + checking D3 official docs before paying for any D3 online course. You might not need any :)
