Learn Web Designing & HTML5/CSS3 Essentials in 4-Hours (Udemy.com)

Overall, this is a PHENOMENAL course. Brad does a great job of teaching how to take apart a PSD and take those same elements and convert it to a web page using HTML and CSS. I took it after completing the HTML/CSS portion of his Complete Web Design course and it really helped to re-inforce that portion of the course.

However, it might be a bit overwhelming if you don't have any prior experience with Photoshop or with HTML/CSS, so you may have to watch some of the videos more than once. (But with some practice, you should be able to easily duplicate what you're seeing in the videos.)

The only thing I didn't like is there were a few times Brad would be in the middle of a lecture and would add a CSS element that he hadn't introduced, and would say "I'm not going to explain this in detail; if you want to know more check out such-and-such website." Mind you, probably 98% of the material was properly introduced and explained, but I feel like if you use something in your lectures, you should be willing to explain to your students what it is and how it works.

That said, I've taken about a dozen courses in web design on udemy, and Brad Hussey is one of the better instructors - and this course is definitely worth checking out.

Great program with lots of detail and reasoning on why he was using which tags and why. A great overview on how to take a PSD and make it a living site. Excellent bonus on creating a sticky footer.

Great course on learning how to code a website from a graphic mock-up, it was cool to learn how to layout sections in CSS with some nice little touches for making elements display better on screen etc, definitely worth checking out if you are new to web coding & want to get up to speed with creating a site

Brad is very engaged and runs through the course material in a high and entertaining pace. However the video quality of this course is quite poor and whilst I do understand that the scope of this course is limited I do miss the 'why' in quite a few lectures. Some external sources are being referenced but it is not quite clear what the 'target audience' for this course is. (Meaning skipping does not suit for absolute beginners, where the course content in general seems to be targeting that group). The marketing for 'justhost' .. no idea what to think of that.. I skipped it and marked the lesson 'read'. General feedback: nice course at high pace, covers how to setup a website in HTML5. The structure is explained quite well. The CSS3 part is more a 'punch in what the instructor does' if your knowledge about CCS/CSS3 is limited. I think that perhaps 'gotchas' on how to setup or request a PSD to be delivered (grids) could have been covered. There is not really much done in the 'Web Design' area. Also this course covers just 'one page' and not a 'website', expect no functionality like coding contact form, input validation and submits. Overal I thought this course was 'OK' for a short course.

Some videos are extremely long :( and Photoshop usage is rare.

Brad's "Build Websites from Scratch with HTML & CSS" is better and deeper explained. Go for that one!

Simple and fast introduction to a basic CSS3 driven HTML5 site.

This is a a fantastic "Learn-by-mimic" course. I would recommend to any new starter that wants to get an insight into what is involved in a simple site.

Well presented, clear and easy to understand production.

This is a great place to start if you want to start diving into web design/development, however, as the tittle says this course only teaches the Essential elements of web design/development, Brad does his best to teach you all the necessary information clearly, and even when he can't (because otherwise the course would be too long) he shows you some very good resources where you can learn for yourself.

I did this course as a complimentary course to his Ultimate Web Designer & Developer Course (which I totally recommend) to learn a little more about going from a PSD file to an HTML/CSS site, and I thought I'd know everything he shows here about HTML/CSS coding (since I'm half through the other course already), but I actually learned some new tricks from this course, so I also recommend it as a complimentary course.

This course has a set of very useful skills when it comes to designing a Web site. As always, Brad Hussey does a fantastic job of explaining pertinent skills while simultaneously helping you get the hands-on experience you need to really learn what's being taught. The bottom line here is if you are serious about learning to build Web sites, any course taught by Brad Hussey is going to be your best option.

I enjoy how the instructor explains each step, and you get to see what he is doing. He also gives you the shortcut keys in photoshop, which is a great help. The instructor explains each step so you understand why he i s doing what he is doing. This was a great course I highly recommend it.

Real nice primer to building html and css website, very good for motivation and getting your feet wet, a bit amateurish, brads later courses do fix a lot of the issues, specially recommended for beginners to get yourself started.

Do come back to it later once you have a better handle on css specially to get the most out of it.

What attracted me to the title of the course was the idea of incorporating Photoshop with HTML5/CSS3, and while technically that happens in the course, it wasn't entirely what I expected. Having said that, the course provides some solid bits of information regarding how to take a Photoshop mockup and recreate it as a semantically-valid HTML5/CSS3 web page. I didn't have trouble following along, but I believe that's due to my familiarity with basic HTML and CSS concepts. An absolute beginner is likely to get lost in the weeds pretty quickly. In fairness, the instructor does say that some background would be helpful; in my view, it's essential.

My main criticism is the quality of the video itself. When you are writing code, you have to be able to read the code. It wasn't until halfway through the course that the video zoomed into the code itself so that it could be read. Otherwise, you'll find yourself pausing and rewinding unless you are a fast and accurate keyboarder (which I am not). Somewhat frustrating.

The instructor might have been a bit more organized in his presentation, but it wasn't a big problem.

Overall, I learned some things from this course, and would recommend it to those who already have some HTML/CSS knowledge and who want to take a Photoshop mockup from concept to final coding.

Illuminating and enjoyable. The act of watching and repeating during the lectures helped with memorising certain commands and functions, that might have taken considerably longer if I had tried the same lesson in book form. Brad Hussey is very good at communicating in a clear manner. The lessons were easy to follow and the results were always obvious at the end (ie. if there was a mistake and something wasn't displaying as it should then the odds were 100% it was because I hadn't closed a command). I've decided to move from this relatively introductory exercise into doing one of Brad's bigger courses.
