Our take
Based on the ratings of 6,913 students and a sample of their written reviews, the syllabus, the course as of May 2018. No course pays to be reviewed.
A free, four-hour walkthrough of Bootstrap 4 from Brad Hussey, built around three small projects: a hand-coded site, one based on a template, and a startup landing page, plus a short Sass section at the end. The syllabus runs to 18 lectures across five sections, so it's a taster rather than a full course. The requirements list asks for HTML, CSS and some Bootstrap 3, and reviewers back that up. People who already know the basics and want to see the framework used on a real page get the most from it. True beginners tend to struggle.
Students like the teaching. Reviewers call him clear, articulate and easy to follow, and two say they built a client site straight after finishing. The Emmet and Sass sections get singled out as helpful extras. The complaints are about age and pace. The course was last updated in May 2018 and was recorded on an early Bootstrap 4 alpha, so some syntax no longer matches the docs, and learners report hunting through the official documentation to make the projects work. Low-star reviews also say he talks fast and skips the why behind the grid system, and that Q&A replies come from support staff rather than the instructor.
It costs nothing, and the 4.5 rating from about 6,900 reviews shows most people feel they got their time's worth, with roughly 86 percent leaving four or five stars. Against the other Bootstrap courses it sits beside, this is the quick, free option: fine for a refresher or a first look, not for learning Bootstrap from scratch or for Bootstrap 5. Treat it as a free weekend project and keep the current docs open.
Pros
- Free, and one three-star reviewer still calls it better than many paid courses
- Three small projects, including a startup landing page, instead of slides
- Clear, articulate explanations; two students built a client site right after
- Short Sass and Emmet sections that reviewers found genuinely useful
Cons
- Recorded on a Bootstrap 4 alpha and last updated in 2018, so some syntax no longer matches the docs
- Moves fast and skips the why, which beginners and non-native English speakers find hard
- Only 18 lectures; reviewers ask for more examples, and Q&A answers come from support staff, not the instructor
Brad does an excellent job providing the student with the necessary tools and skills to understand bootstrap and apply its features.
Listed as All Levels, but it assumes HTML, CSS and some Bootstrap 3; absolute beginners say it moves too fast.

Great course for newbies, beginners(who just know html & css) and programmers who want to add a new library to their tool belt. I found this course so helpful because I needed a refresher. I was able to apply what I learned immediately. Brad's teaching style empowers you because he explains things so well. I was scared of SASS but not anymore. Thanks!

Very good explanation of the whole bootstrap with bootstrap alpha version as well as the latest version and awesome project works are there. Tutor made the code to write that improved the typing practice. The use of the emmet plugin is handy that is too included within the course so i recommend its a good course to learn if you have a knowledge of Html and Css and it is absolutely free.

Amazing course. I learned so much every single time I take a Brad Hussey course. He packs his courses with so much knowledge, resources and valuable information that is really hard to find anywhere on the web and is incredibly exciting to me. I am grateful for all of Brad's courses, he offers extreme value to his students. THANK YOU BRAD!

Brad does an excellent job providing the student with the necessary tools and skills to understand bootstrap and apply its features. By the end of the course the student should be very comfortable using other features of bootstrap from the bootstrap web site. Another helpful benefit is the use of Sass and Emmet syntax. By the end of the course I was very comfortable using Emmet and appreciate its productivity. I give 4.5 stars with only one negative, the course can use more projects/examples.

This course is free and Brad's teaching style is engaging. It was interesting to work through activities based on an outdated version of Bootstrap. I appreciate that Brad updated the course based on a new release of the software. However, even this was out of date by the time I took the course. What I liked best is perhaps peripheral to the actual course. I found that I was engaged in trying to troubleshoot why my coding didn't produce the same results as the course. I learned how to resolve conflict in code. I learned that I like the troubleshooting process. And through the merits of the course, I learned some basics about html, css, and bootstrap. Thanks for the free course, Brad!

The instructor is easy to understand and breaks concepts down so easily as to be understood by even an entry-level web developer. Love his delivery. The course could use some updating though. It currently runs through the alpha phase Bootstrap 4 and then updates to "current" but would prefer a ground up from the current. Also, the SASS section is almost completely outdated with SCSS files in bootsrtap and so took a few hours to self-educate in order to follow along. Still a great course and much enjoyed it.

Course is OK for Bootstrap and Mr.Brad update for Bootstrap 4.1, then half star up but where is media queries?? And too simple example and only two www ;( After this course maybe Im build for me own www but for job sorry not... Im waiting for 50+ hour course in few complicated Bootstrap examples (Bootstap 4) and how get job or sell in TemplateMonster my own themes... - an exhaustive course subject is not a cursory explanation (sorry Google translate this last sentence) I like You and Your course Brad but do more comprehensive courses. Bye!

Loved the course, although I had to really work for it, diggin up the right code for the newest version which has some different grid classes. I feel like I learned a ton of usefull stuff about Bootstrap. This was only my second Bootstrap tutorial, so still pretty much a newbie but def excited about it...and I can't even express my gratitude for introducing me to Emmet, my new best friend. I recommend this entertaining tutorial to anyone who's looking for a fun & quick way to build web sites. Thanks Brad!

Very informative. The instructor is very knowledgeable on the subject, but he can move too quickly at times (even with emmet) which causes me to pause the video and ultimately makes the lectures much longer than expected. And some concepts he doesn't go into great detail on, so it would help if he left some references so we could follow up on our own. Other than that, the outdated material is very limited and can be found with some quick google-fu, so that's not a problem. And overall, all I've learned alot so far and the topics covered makes it a near perfect course.
