Course Description

*This course has been updated to the latest version of Maya 2017 It can be hard feeling completely lost when you already know the fundamentalsand the software is the only thing getting in your way. You may be pulling your hair out, because your speed and process have been thrown out the door. You may be knowing what you want to create but getting nowhere trying to accomplish it.

Most tutorials for learning Maya are fundamentals videos that are long and drawn out, covering topics that you already understand.
You're just looking for the information on how to transfer the skills you already have from working in 3ds max. You may be spending large amounts of time scanning through tons of beginner videos only to find the videos overlook the advanced techniques you use. Sometimes the techniques you use aren'teven available in Maya. This becomes irritating and wastes your time. This video series is designed to get you up to speed inside of Maya and have you wondering why it ever seemed so hard to transfer between software in the first place. All of the main tools and techniques that are usedin everyday video game art development (modeling, unwrapping, and baking) will be explained and cross referenced to what you would use inside of 3ds max. So if you're in need of getting up to speed inside of Maya for a new job position or are a studentlooking to improve yourresume to become more attractive to employers this video series is perfectfor you. Who this course is for:
Intended for Intermediate to Advanced users of 3ds max that want to transfer their skill set into Maya

Bradley Wascher

Hey folks!
My name is Bradley Wascher, I am a 3D environment artist working in the video game industry. I've worked for some of the biggest names in the video games industry, from Liquid development, to High Moon Studios, which is owned and ran by Activision.I have several years of on the job experience creating 3D art for video games. I haveeven worked for a design company creating 3D products all the way down to 2D web graphics and print ads.
I've had the great pleasure in my many jobs to have learned a lot and met a lot of great people that had their own techniques and insight. I wanted to give back to the world of 3D by releasing classes and tutorials that would help others either get a grasp ofhow video games are actually built or help artists that are already working to advance their skills.

If you ever have any questions just let me know. -BW

as an expert user of 3ds max, i changed jobs and needed a quick ramp up, and was always finding myself saying "in max there was this tool... i wonder where it is in maya". So I bought this wonderful course that bridged the gap between what I knew and how they approach it in maya. This was a game changer for me, highly recommended!

The course is a good introduction to Maya, but the title is a little misleading.
I was expecting a greater comparison between both 3ds max and Maya. Maybe showing both interfaces...
Having said that, the course is good and shows useful things.

20 years using 3ds Max for myself, and it got straight to the point of what I needed to know. Certainly more than enough to get up and running, and cleared up some misconceptions about Maya for me along the way.

This is a great way to get your feet wet with the most fundamental level Maya basics, but I would have liked a more in depth technical explanation to understand HOW Maya operates differently than 3ds Max. The content of this course is basically a super quick crash course on simple tools, but lacks the true translation that experienced 3ds Max users will need to understand what Maya is doing differently.

Makes the ui alot less scary

This is an intro to Maya tutorial NOT a 3DS Max conversion to Maya tutorial. At no point were any references to 3ds Max made in regard to functions and commands for experienced 3ds Max users. The modeling section didn't cover any major operations such as cut, bevel, connect, bridge or shell. My expectation was that there would be a transference of terminology between softwares, but there was none.

As an experienced Max user, I have long struggled with making the jump over while it is still an option for me and not a necessity (yet). This course helped remove the fear and is as advertised---straight to the point. Short, efficient videos that focus on all of the main points involved in game modelling. It's exactly what I was looking for in learning a new language to craft the same visual message. One point of small critique (very small) is that there are not any direct references to counterpart Max commands, although as a heavy Max user those things were all apparent to me as we went. But to satisfy my OCD, it would have been neat to see "hey, freeze transform is in Maya what Reset XForm is in Max" for example. But that should be irrelevant to immediate/advanced Max users, and is not enough to lower my rating. Thanks for the course!

Great tutorials and clear explanation. It's a very good course for someone who what to start learning Maya. But it's a little bit too basic for me. I wish there're more comparison between 3dsmax and Maya.

By Andres Gutirrez on 6/10/2019

IT is a good overview of the software, but the title says "learning Maya after knowing 3dsMax, and in no lessons he talk about 3dsMax, just shows very fast attributes of Maya.

Super erklrt
