Course Description
Functional programming is a style of writing programs by simply composing a set of functions. It helps to write a lot of small reusable functions and simply call them one after the other. With regard to JavaScript, we have following features to our advantage:
• Speed
• Simplicity
• Versatility
• Server Load
If you're looking forward to building maintainable real-world applications by writing code in the functional way? If yes, this then go for this Learning Path.
Packt’s Video Learning Path is a series of individual video products put together in a logical and stepwise manner such that each video builds on the skills learned in the video before it.
Let's take a quick look at your learning journey. This Learning Path begins with an introduction to functional programming wherein you will understand the principles of writing functional code along with its benefits and drawbacks. You will learn to write code that is easy to understand, test, and debug using ES6. You will then see how to use currying, partial evaluation, map, reduce, filter, recursion, and other functional programming concepts in ES6. Next, you will learn generator functions and the ES2017 sync-await construct which will help you set up communication with a server via an API during implementation of a web application. As you progress, you will learn lazy evaluation to optimize performance of your web application. Finally, you will implement a web application demonstrating the practical usage of most of the features that you've learned throughout this Learning Path.
By the end of this Learning Path, you will have a thorough understanding of functional programming in JavaScript and should be able to build and test your own applications.

Learned core concepts of functional programming using JavaScript, and not just the ES6+ syntax. I enjoyed the exercises, which solidified my understanding of the concepts. I think the instructor is very knowledgeable about functional programming. This is a must-take course for all developers.

The course is very clear and straight to the point. Maybe showing more real-life examples would make the concepts clearer, but overall it helps understanding most of the functional programming paradigm.

Can not catch up with coding. Instructor is very fast. But you can get the concept of what he is teaching. You just need to pause the video in order to catch up with the coding.

I liked the approach of distributing topics into meaningful sections. But, I found the code examples with the voice over to be a little fast-paced. I had to pause the video multiple times to observe the results of the programs executed to be on the same page.

This course raises the bar, makes you think and offers insights and solutions.

The perfect course to REALLY understand concepts of functional programming and put it in practice with a complete application. Really good!

This course is a fast paced overview of advanced JS concepts, but it really isn't what was advertised. The resources are incomplete and arranged in deeply nested folders with generic titles that do not match the lesson. It's hardly the basis of a toolbox. And while you will not find any variables named "foo" or "bar", you might as well: there's really nothing about this lesson that is immediately practical.

I need to watch the videos multiple times to get the points. I will keep plugging away. Thank you

I enjoyed the course. I feel that some of the more involved concepts such as functors/monads could of used a bit more real world examples, rather text book reading explanations/formulas. Also, I felt that many of the examples were not practical. BUT, I commend the instructor for taking on a course, that most shy away from.
