Sean Fowler

Hi there my Name is Sean Fowler and I have been a 3D  Freelance artist for over 10 years.   I graduated from Full Sail University with a Bachelors of Science in Game Art, which pretty much means I am specialized to work in games, be it prop modeling and textures, character modeling and, straight up to animation cycles in maya.  You could say I do enjoy a lot of the disciplines in the game production workflow.  I am very passionate about what I do, and I’m very committed in learning new things everyday.  I wanted to find a way to give back a little so I felt this would be an excellent place to start.

I got Substance Painter two weeks ago, and after playing around with it for a while and watching some YouTube videos, I knew I wanted to get some more in-depth knowledge. This course gave me exactly what I needed. The way it's set up is excellent, because the character model you work with teaches you how texture different kinds of surfaces. At the end, you will know how to work with cloth, metal, skin, hair, emissive surfaces, and transparencies. You also learn how to paint eyes, make-up, and basic tattoos. The instructor explains very well how things work, and why they work that way. This gives you the tools to use your own creativity and imagination. The only downside was that the sound was a bit low. Other than that I had a lot of fun.

Incredible course. I really liked how he divided it into two sections, an introductory one for those who had never opened the program and another more complex one that was still very didactic. I'm Brazilian and I was able to understand him very well because he speaks very clearly. 10/10

So far so good, I'm just at the beginning so, it's a bit early for Udemy to ask about reviews so early into the class, but the teacher is knowledgeable, and the explanation is clear and targeted for what I need. Updated to halfway through I feel I've learned a lot and the bases are covered clearly and in an easy-to-understand way.

Absolutely loved this course! I loved that I was able to learn exactly what was taught and was also encouraged to experiment with materials, colours and styles. There were a few glitches in the audio here and there, but without that being considered, this would probably be one of the best courses for Substance Painter on the Internet.

Thank you so much for this course! I already knew some basics of Substance Painter, but I was looking to deepen my understanding of the program and enhance my texturing work. Really good explanations and work process, excellently broken down into easy to follow steps and some good humor inbetween. The only thing I had hoped to see in the course would've been a worfklow to increase realism, like signs of usage on the clothing, dirt, scratches; microdetails in general. But nonetheless a very help- and insightful course, I shall check out more of your material :) Best regards, Kristiana

Dear author of the course! I think, that being so fascinated with the sound of your own voice you probably forgot that among your students the English is the mother tongue not for everyone!!!! And the the specific phrasal verbs like the 'crink up' in the section describing pre-render setup in zbrush, may confuse your listeners! Could you please rewrite this part and explain the process in internationally accepted words and more clearly!!!!

I'm very glad to have chosen this course. The instructor takes his time to explain how to perform a task and why performing it a certain way. I'm confident in saying that I can now use Substance Painter for my projects after going through this course.

What i really loved about this course is just how real it is. There is no fast forwards, no cutting out the mistakes, the instructor just corrects it on the fly. There is trial and error present and through out the whole video you can feel the expertise of the instructor. Thank you for your good work, i gain enough knowledge to confidently use Substance Painter.

The Cyberpunk Girl model offers abundant opportunities to learn what Substance Painter has to offer in 3D texturing. Instruction is very clear and easy to follow. I found the instructor's voice quiet, with some static in the sound quality. Mostly, this isn't a huge issue. I love the encouragement to go beyond with our own creativity!
