Hi there, I'm Kaan and I'm an independent game developer. I have been making games for over 10 years. I studied at Japan Electronics College in Tokyo learning all about computer science.
I taught tens of thousands of beginners game development and programming principles. I know exactly how you feel and what you are looking for and I try to make it so that my courses are the perfect fit for you. I remember my own struggles during my learning journey and I try to use those memories as reference points for my lectures.
Making games is my PASSION. I'm in love with the whole process of creating a game, from idea to the end product.
I decided to become a Udemy instructor in order to share my knowledge with people like you. I believe that the best people on this planet are the ones that share their knowledge with others. I know that I wouldn't have learned so much without the help of others.
And now I'm here for you! I hope to see you in one of my classes! :)

This is a very basic course, but it's exactly what it's meant to be. It allows you to familiarize yourself with the interface and the basic principles of working with Godot. The course is a great starting point for further learning.

Having already toyed around with the Godot game engine, this tutorial helped me understand some good practices that actually makes more sense. The lecturer is very good at explaining what and why we do things this way or that way. I recommand if you have no or very little knowledge of the game engine.

Very nice and free course! Get it to start with godot. There are some little changes needed for version 4.2 but everything working like in the course. Big thanks to Kaan creating a great short and free tutorial for Godot!

Great introductory course to GoDot that covers all the basics. Its nice to be able to complete a simple game from start to finish. Only one minor update is that GoDot 4.2.1 has update their save/load features. See below. func save_highscore(): var save_data = FileAccess.open(SAVE_FILE_PATH, FileAccess.WRITE) save_data.store_var(highscore) func load_highscore(): var save_data = FileAccess.open(SAVE_FILE_PATH, FileAccess.READ) highscore = save_data.get_var() if highscore == null: highscore = 0

I'm learning godot 4, so the syntax for connecting signals in this version (godot 3) was a bit difficult to understand b/c I kept getting errors. Luckily, a few google searches helped out for that. In case anyone coming after me has the same issue... in the World.gd script func _ready(): obstacle_spawner.obstacle_created.connect(on_obstacle_created.bind()) new_game() func on_obstacle_created(obs): obs.score.connect(player_score.bind())

First time using Godot, I have experience using Unity but confuse with Godot nodes things this tutorial really helps to understand them. It's just I'm using Godot 4 so a bit confusing to follow but I still can figure it out. Overall, very good tutorial and exactly the same with Flappy Bird game with all those assets.

The course is not for complete beginners. I guess the instructor knew this and so he did not elaborate too much. But his voice is quite clear and can easily be followed. I have to pause and rewind from time-to-time. I learned so much as the information available are enough to make a simple but complete game with a feature to save & read from a file even. Overall, I am very satisfied as the course is even offered for free! As improvement, I suggest including information on how to export to Android so we can completely test the game therein. Thank you! :-) P.S. There is an extra Youtube video on bug fixes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_ThGJG9Kqg Also, to make touchscreen controls work in Android, add a TouchScreenButton under MenuLayer w/ Shape value of "New RectangleShape 2D" and Scale value of X:24 and Y:43 with Action = flap.

This is my very first tutorial on Godot, Kaan did an outstanding job explaining each decision he made in great detail. However, some of the methods he used were obsoleted with the release of Godot 4, such as the Tween Node has been made available with the create_tween() method in every Node, and the File class has been replaced with FileAccess class. Overall, it was a great introduction course to Godot, but you still need to do some of your own research before you can fully benefit from the lesson.

I just watched the last video, and I felt sad that this course came to an end, as after watching an interesting movie. I want to thank the author for the work done, I have learned a lot, and I will continue to study further. I wish you all the best. I feel like I graduated from a higher institute. Although it was a short course, for me it is a victory, I have reached the very end. With my life schedule, there is very little time to study, but in small steps, I spent one day a week studying, making my own game and taking hints from here. Thank you very much!
