Course Description

In building large scale applications intended for growth, microservices architecture is the go-to solution. One issue for Javascript and NodeJS learners is the few courses and/or resources to teach event-driven microservices with NodeJS and Typescript. This course was designed to show you how to setup and build a large scale event-driven microservices application using React and Typescript on the client side and NodeJS and Typescript on the server side.

This course is a fullstack course that focuses on developing microservices and connecting them to a client web application and it follows a hands-on approach or 'learn-by-doing, which means the whole course is structured around building a fullstack web application and the different concepts will be explained detailedly as they are introduced.

What's this course about?

This course is about building a complete ecommerce freelance marketplace from scratch using popular development tools and the microservices architecural patterns. The curriculum for this course is going to be very hands on as we walk from start to finish building and deploying the application to production. The course is structured into 4 main parts:

  • Development of microservices and client application

  • Deployment to kubernetes

  • CI/CD pipeline with Jenkins

  • Monitoring and logs management

Each structure is broken down into its sections.

  • Microservices development

    • API gateway

    • Notification service

    • Authentication service

    • Users service

    • Gig service

    • Chat service

    • Order service

    • Review service

  • Deployment of microservices to

    • Minikube

    • AWS EKS cluster

  • Setup of CI/CD pipeline locally and on the cloud with Jenkins

  • Frontend development

  • Frontend deployment to

    • Minikube

    • AWS EKS cluster

What Technologies You'll Use

Because we are building a fullstack application, we will use a variety of tools and technologies. For the frontend, we'll use React, Tailwindcss and Typescript to show content to users. Each microservice will be built using NodeJS, Express and Typescript. Across the microservices, you'll use tools and technologies like Elasticsearch, Kibana, Rabbitmq, Redis, SocketIO, MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Each microservice will be built as a Docker image and executed in a Kubernetes cluster.  The Kubernetes cluster will be created locally with Minikube and on the cloud with AWS EKS. There are numerous tools, technologies and packages that will be used both locally and in our kubernetes clusters.

Not familiar with some of these? No problem! This course will guide you on how to setup and use these technologies in your apps.

What You'll Be Able to Do

At the end of this course, you will be able to

  • Understand the basics of microservices architecture

  • Build event-driven microservices using NodeJS, Express and Typescript

  • Use Database-per-service pattern

  • Setup communication styles with both Request/Response pattern and Event-driven pattern

  • Setup single node kubernetes cluster with Minikube and multi-node kubernetes cluster with EKS

  • Use Docker and Kubernetes to deploy multiple microservices either locally with Minikube or to the cloud with AWS EKS

Very detailed explanations with real-life experience of a developer as the tutor portray how a developer would navigate through the learning curve and even when they are already developing, what the real world of using these tools feels like.

I have finished to 55 contents. You will get to know some technologies and their usage. However, it seems like he sometimes did copy paste codes. You must copy config files as he never explains about that at all. You have to search yourself. It is also the same to bug fix. You will face a ton of them and you must figure them out by yourself. It is 50-50. You will know some tech. If that is your main goal, it is not too bad. If you want to know everything in details, not recommend.

This course exceeded my expectations. It delivered exactly what I was looking for — and much more. The choice of programming language is secondary; what truly matters is the clarity with which the structure and individual components of a system are presented. Everything is explained in a simple, thorough, and insightful way that helps build deep understanding. Thank you very much for this excellent course. I highly recommend it to everyone!

This is the best of the best courses available online on how to create microservices with RabbitMQ. I am a fullstack developer and I wanted a course like this and thanks to Uzochukwu Eddie Odozi I can now learn how to build any project like a professional programmer. I liked that he uses different databases, in different microservices, to help us understand as easily as possible how we can configure them in a real project. As a bonus I was pleasantly impressed to see that Eddie uses Elasticsearch with Kibana. In many job descriptions I saw that these were required but I could not apply because I did not know how to use them. There are many other bonuses in this course, such as: Jenkins, Kubernetes, Redis, AWS, etc. I am so glad that Eddie had the time and pleasure to build this very complex project with microservices from which we can learn how to apply these principles in real projects. I think I'm repeating myself, but this is the reality, because I think that at this moment there is no learning platform that offers a course as good as this one on microservices.

The instructor has tried his best to explain every concept very well. However, everything can't be explained to everyone, so in order to get the most from this course, I would suggest that you should have medium-level knowledge of development and deployment. I am hoping for more interesting topics and projects to be released on microservices in the future. Special Thanks to the instructor for designing such a beautiful course, and putting a lot of effort into developing one. One of the best courses I have found in node js and microservices. Thanks :)

The project is quite good, but it is not for initiate levels, if you are new in this world, I do not recommend it, because you will be stuck a lot in parts of these steps. You will need to fix bugs by yourself and sometimes you will find some help on the chat, but not for fix all of them. The instructor in great part of the course just copy and paste code, do not create it and the explanation its quite shallow. If you have a problem and ask for the instructor to help you out about it, forget it, you do not have support, probably he abandoned the content.

This is the real project with plenty of different technologies. It covers microservices with node js, front end with react, docker, kubernets, aws cloud. This is like to get five separated courses. I highly recommend this course especially for confident juniors, middle developers, even seniors could also learn from it. To be completely honest there is some small things in some files that is need to be fixed in order to run the project, most of them are shown in the videos but if you download it directly from github could experience some errors.

Awesome course! Takes you step by step through the entire process of building and deploying a big microservices-based web project. All the technologies and packages being used are modern and up to date. This is the best course of this scale that exists on Udemy at the time of writing (beginning of 2024) Note that this course is focused on building microservices. The instructor assumes you are already familiar with the tech stack. There are no detailed explanations about how Node JS or React works, how to write Typescript, or use Docker. There are other courses that go into these topics in greater detail. Part of the course involves deploying your app to AWS and using services that are not included in the free tier (like EKS and NAT Gateway). The instructor warns you about this and gives advice on how to minimise the costs. But it can still cost you $10-20 to keep the services online long enough to go through all the steps of the course. If you are going through the course to build a small personal project, know that this type of setup is a bit overkill. This is more geared towards medium sized tech companies. There are much cheaper options to deploy a smaller app to production.

Wow, what an excellent course! The instructor has done an amazing job with building out this behemoth of a MERN stack, and making it easy to follow along. I don't think there's any course on Udemy that goes as far as this project does for a complete full stack microservice application with comprehensive business logic. This course is quite advance and delivers a lot of real world design patterns. I'm looking forward to course updates because this application is quite special to have. I would hope the instructor could refine the websocket implementation a bit better to be more real world, and possibly a openapi spec generation for the gateway service.
