The Microsoft Power BI for Financial Reporting course on Udemy is highly practical and well-structured for finance professionals. It clearly explains how to build dynamic financial reports, dashboards, and KPI visuals with real-world examples. The step-by-step approach makes complex financial data analysis simple and easy to implement in daily work. A great course to enhance reporting efficiency and decision-making skills.

There are some positives in this course: - introducing templates, building on SWITCH, SUMMARIZE, TREATAS good modelling practice There are also quite a few negatives showing not enough time spent on preparation of this course: - data used in input of poor quality e.g. Balance Sheet that doesn't add up and all years but the first just dragged (+1 series) from the first column - videos showing previous versions of measures and time in videos spent correcting them - quite a few of the videos could do with editing repetitive comments, mistakes, splitting into shorter topics - summary notes of very little value as well as quizzes - very repetitive - resources in the final task not matching the task description - chapter 10 interesting, but with no resources - chapter 11 just repeating what was said in the previous chapters

Explains well how to create Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statements using a template formats. Also uses simple DAX formulas to build up to other formulas. Accounts Receivable page is quite useful. Note that the data is not perfect because Total Assets does not equal Total Liabilibities + Total Equity; the data was not designed how a company truly operates. It also appears that Cash balances (opening period and prior period) on the Cash Flow Statement page is also not balancing because the data used is not perfect. Overall this course helps you create the 3 financial statements and a few other key pages needed for understand a company's financial picture.

The course is solid. The most value is how to create financial statements given a specific format. To realistically pull this off in a commercial setting you would require other skills in addition to this course. You need to know how to create financial statements, understanding of databases and SQL. I would suggest that an introductory DAX course is prerequisite to this course.

This is the third Enterprise DNA course that I've taken. Actually third if one counts finding Enterprise DNA through Youtube. The first two Udemy course being DAX Decoded (which I think the YouTube videos were taken from) and Mastering DAX calculations. Those two were very good but quite similar so the DAX concepts were reinforced by a certain degree of repetition. This course then took a different approach of being a practical application. It does not expect that you have already studied DAX but I think that it helps greatly if you do those three courses in the same sequence that I approached them. I found this one to be enjoyable and wonder whether this was because the first was an alien conceot, the second had repetition and this time I was applying knowledge that I felt I now knew so was frequently trying what I thought was the right answer before watching the what Sam did. The Income statement I struggled a little with. The balance sheet Was fun. But the Cashflow statement. Loved that section. My code was not exactly the same as Sams but mine worked first time which gives you a real warm and fuzzy. Whilst appreciating that this was not down to this course alone it was all down to Sam so I would just like to say a big thankyou for a very enjoyable course. Also excellent approach of posting cut down courses on Youtube as the quality of your videos there made me find your courses here. Right, which course next... DAX pro I think :)

Beautiful course. Of course he makes most of the things on-the-fly but I don't see how many of you find it a problem, since he is trying to pass on the feeling of how to create a financial report from scratch. For the single-star reviewers that kind off dissuaded me from taking this course; This is an *expert* level course, if you want copy/paste-mashed-potatoes kind off tutorials, this is not such a course.

The course is great to show the techniques and DAX calculations for financial models. It was disconcerting to discover that the Balance Sheet & Cash did not balance. The cause was the source data, but I would expect that in the model there would be checks that the Balance Sheet Balances, Cash in the Cash Flow matches the Balance Sheet. A big piece missing is how to handle retained earnings roll-over. Not a big deal in this model as it started from pre-done Financial Statement key numbers, but many people (CFO's, Controllers, Financial Analysts) do not do a historical stagnant financial statement analysis but need to update with real data monthly. Nevertheless, the techniques outlined are a good starter for building live models. The validations, relative slicers, changing master data (e.g. new GL accounts) will need to be developed by yourself. The key learning is how to use Templates, setting up DAX formulas for Key Measures then using the Switch/True to bring in information and setting up Groupings. For those coming from an Excel based modelling using SumIf, Xlookup & Pivot Tables this course shows how to get similar results in Power BI.

This course has been a great learning resource to develop financial analysis in Power BI. Financial modeling and its applications in FP&A and investment modeling have always been difficult to develop in Power BI. However, Sam was able to teach these skills in an enriching and enjoyable way. Very good course. Definitely recommended for those who already have advanced knowledge of finance and Power BI.

I really enjoyed this course. Sam explained things very well. The tips on arranging your data model made sense and I can see they will prove their worth when using them on a real world complicated dataset. The way Sam showed us to create the reports and get the values to line up with the text lines using a template makes we want to try this out for real. It would have been so useful to have know this back in the past when I was creating Power BI Reports. Thanks to Sam and the Enterprise DNA Team for creating this course.

This course introduced and developed some valuable concepts in financial reporting using DAX and Power BI. The course had a solid overarching structure. Each lesson moved us further along, and contained interesting digressions and tips. I certainly picked up a number of useful techniques that I plan to put in place very soon. Very nicely done! Andy. PS I often watch these video courses at 1.5× speed, but the information content of this course was such that I spent the majority of my time at 1.0× soaking up all the valuable insights. Nice job!
