MySQL, SQL and Stored Procedures from Beginner to Advanced (Udemy.com)

As expected from the instructor, excellent course structure with very good pacing, no boring slide show and theories and its all about typing and being very practical. I became pretty confident with mySQL from having absolutely ZERO knowledge by completing this course to adding mySQL in my resume. Not going to say that I'm surprised as I also became very proficient with Java by completing John's Java courses and I knew exactly what to expect. tl:dr - Very good, not boring, no slide show and theories, practical.

this course was good and had many advanced things, John is genuine but one thing if I complain about is examplese used in the course and names given for variables and columns were not good and sometimes confusing and some stored procedures were explained very fast and I as a beginner I got lost sometimes and thought about giving up and just moving to simpler things . thank you John all in all was good 3 stars and half given to you

I knew very little about SQL coming into this course, and now after finishing it I've been able to write a few SQL programs at work to improve processes that use multiple excel spreadsheets. I've also created a fantasy football and fantasy basketball program to help me select the best lineups each week using stored procedures - I'm currently #1 in my league :) - I'm very satisfied with this course and how practical it is and how many business and personal applications I've already been able to create from the experience going through this course. I feel extremely equipped to create, manage and utilize small to medium sized databases and am excited about the possibilities opened up by this course and SQL. Thanks John!!!

The course was great. I've done a 1yr course locally and got certified in all bases. This course does more than the usual. They normally go deep into the basic and then you have to get more cheeky with stored procedures. I've done it all on Oracle, and this course puts the MySQL in the context it deserves to be taught. All you onlookers need to take this course seriously, get the RDBMS and do the practice, especially the triggers, functions and stored procedures. Going pro you'll have to have the basics, and the SPs down pat. Otherwise, forget about database. He gave it to us, so what are you waiting for. Exciting, was taking too long for me to finish at a high pace so I prayed and upped the speed to 2x. Amazing course; can be done in 2-3 weeks if you have the spare time.

awesome course. started to build my own database after going through this course. i think i would like to see from this course is explaining how to use the "load data infile" sql query for loading csv data. also how to troubleshoot importing csv data when using the wizard as well because in real world, we often have to load a lot of data into sql database through excel or csv file. if this section is added, it would be more practical.

For those who wish to become a true professionals in SQL, then this is the course for you. the subjects of the course are explained thoroughly to the highest level possible. However, since I had very little knowledge about SQL at the beginning, I had to take additional course, with a correlation to this course to fill in some gaps, especially concerning the use of the command line in a WIndows OS environment, and the fundamental principles of the scripts taught in each chapter. The complementary course was "Introduction to SQL and MySQL" presented by Holczer Balazs. Following the sequence of the current course, at first, I listened and practiced according to the relevant lectures of Mr. Balaz' course, as an introduction, and then I drilled down to each subject by listened and practiced according to the ecquivelant chapters of the current course. a main problem of both courses is the size of the writing area on screen. I needed a large monitor in order to overcome this obstacle.

Very good course. Though the information is not complete SQL, it contains the basics as well as most advanced features. I believe this course definitely prepares the student with the needed information to be very productive with SQL and MySQL. I thought many of the lectures could be streamlined so that the information could be presented in a shorter amount of time which would allow the tutorial to be completed sooner. Also, I thought the instructor's speech pace was a bit slow. I played the audio at a speed of 1.25x and found that pace suitable for me. I recommend the course.

Excellent course for a person like myself who has zero knowledge on SQL. Everything from start to end was explained clearly as well as the 'why-do-this' was anything but short of it. I wanted to say I felt this course could be shorter as I have experience in programming but after revising it, I'd say every section is needed. Overall good learning experience. Recommended for people who want to learn purely on SQL language and syntax, although he did introduce Java at the end as one of many programming language that are used with SQL.

Great course. I had always worked on basic SQL and was craving to gain more insight on relational database in general. The content is comprehensive and good for all kind of audience. I practiced most of the SQL on command line, rather than workbench as it helps in getting better at SQL. I would recommend the same to anyone. John has done good job at putting the content in right balance. But I wanted bit more to understand query optimization in depth. Definitely, this was good step for me. Attention and typing is the key.

Course content is excellent, if not slow as I am experienced in SQL Server. The problem I have is that the colors of MySQL do not show up well on my monitor and cannot see the light colors. It would have been better to set all colors to black or navy so as to be better visually. Another improvement would have been to better prepare the examples before recording. Having exactly practiced the examples rather than guessing what to use would have been more professional.
