Concise course, which is good because longer courses are harder to be finished. Although its conciseness, it contains everything it needs to know about those factors key for a successful story.

I wish I could give this TEN stars. I've read dozens of writing books and attended dozens of workshops and writer's conferences. This was the easiest method I've ever heard. I feel like it focused more on the character and not so much on just the plot like everything else. He gave really great examples as well. I took detailed notes and I think I will even listen to this again. I wish he had more courses to listen to!

I appreciated the crisp and clear steps that were explained with examples, to make us understand the significance of the step or aspect of novel writing! I got to learn a lot about how to put things into perspective, when thinking of writing a novel.

Seems to be full of good information, hasn't bogged down. However, the handouts have not appeared as stated.

It is always good to hear or read Michael Hauge because I always learn something, or some aspect of writing is reinforced. I found this course most helpful in clarifying some aspects of fiction writing presented in a way that was friendly and open. Almost like Michael was sitting in front of me and teaching me on a one-to-one basis.

I thought this was an excellent course that explained the foundations of storytelling in a clear and concise manner. Michael Hauge clearly knows what he is talking about, and he has a pleasant voice to listen to. Though it doesn't state this in the description, it's extremely valuable for romance novelists, since he explains fairly in-depth how the principles of what he's teaching apply to romance/love stories. This would've been a 5-star if the hand-out mentioned in the second video would've been made available as well. As such, I think it's probably best to do this course on your laptop and make notes of the sheets, because the course doesn't have any added material other than the video's. I asked if the materials mentioned could be added, but haven't received a response as of yet. After watching the first section, I personally would recommend watching the video with the 18 Key Questions first, note these questions on a sheet paper and then dive into the second section, where all of these Key Questions are explained in-depth. YMMV, but they it made more sense this way, because it gives a quick overview of what to expect. If you're serious about writing a novel, I'd definitely recommend this course.

I am writing my first novel. I already see areas I can improve. I feel more confidence because of this course. I am inspired to continue my writing. I'm glad I took the course. Great for a beginning novelist. Thanks.

A lot of helpful information. The only thing I would suggest is to add some printable materials, even just a way to print the 18 questions or a quick rundown of each story component defined.

Dear writers or future writers I am very pleased that I followed this course cause I have a couplke of great ideas for concept stories and possibly in the future I want to write a first Thriller novel. Now to write a complete book in well written English where serious theory is involved it is important to have a good basis and to follow lessons and that's where I found this awesome Udemy course today. This is a very informative and to-the-point online course for professional screenwriting. If you plan to write a novel or so then you really don't need to hesitate anymore.
