I’m Phil Ebiner, an educator, photographer, filmmaker, and founder of Video School and Photography & Friends. Through my online courses and creative community, I’ve helped millions of students around the world learn practical skills in photography, video production, design, and more. My goal is to make creative skills feel accessible, useful, and encouraging, whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or looking to take your work to the next level.
My teaching style is clear, supportive, and hands-on. I break complex topics into simple steps, explain the “why” behind each technique, and share real-world examples you can immediately apply. As a photographer and filmmaker, I believe great creative work is not just about gear or settings, but about storytelling, intention, observation, and connection. My goal is to help you feel confident, inspired, and capable of bringing your own creative ideas to life.

Phil has a great teaching style and I learned so much from this course. It was comprehensive enough that you would not have to enroll in anything else to start creating your own Udemy courses. Thank you!

Too much "set up" talking .... I find myself continually skipping ahead to get to the "meat" of the course. Perhaps I'll find more value as the course progresses.

Hi Phil. Really good insights. I loved the 30-day checklist action plan -- it had some great ideas. You kept the concepts easy to understand and follow. I would have like the 30-day checklist done up as a sample capstone project lesson that just walked us through the process. I think that would really cap off a strong course.

For a "crash course," this course was really helpful and gave me a lot of good ideas. I like the instructor's smooth and relaxed presentation style, and I can see that he wants to give as much value and good information as possible. I'm just getting started, but I definitely plan to enroll in more of his courses. Thanks for the positive experience!

I thought the quality of the course was excellent. Would have liked to have seen something interactive (like a quiz) but I'm just weird that way. Otherwise, I loved the course. The audio was excellent as well. I'm getting ready to retire after 27 years of working in Human Resources for the Federal government and I LOVE to teach so I am looking at Udemy to create my own courses on career development. This was very helpful :)

Phil does a great job of explaining the basics in becoming a Udemy instructor. He provides sound advice on what should be done, how to promote, income possibilities, possible topics and research methods. This course provides a sound basic background into the topic and is highly suggested if you're interested in the process.

Excellent introduction to creating and teaching courses online. I will continue to take courses on Udemy and will be developing and teaching Management and Entrepreneurial courses online soon. Thank you Phil for a nice and concise introduction to the whole process. Looking forward to enrolling in your photography classes soon. Best regards.

Phil is the real deal with a proven track record so regardless of the quality of the production his knowledge is worth 5 stars. This is a short, sweet and to the point course that gives good advice and strategy to not only create a course but the email strategy is a real nice touch in helping newbies get their first students.

A great course, packed full of info. The first of Phil's courses I have taken and I will certainly be taking more in the future. I do prefer a bit more talking head video when I am learning but the way Phil teaches gets the information across good and I enjoyed doing the course. Thanks for a great course! Michael D. This is a well designed mini-course. The material is bite-sized, useful, and organized in a sensible way. The design and production/presentation values are high. I thoroughly enjoyed it as an introduction to this subject. P.S. I also appreciated the authenticity of the instructor and his statements, something that directly contrasts with the over-hyped material offered up by many others on this same topic.
