Course Description

So you know a bit of Python and want to learn about RESTful API's and other cool technologies like Flask, Docker, MongoDB to name just a few?

Or maybe you just want to add web development Python skills to your resume.

Whatever the reason is, you have landed on the right page if you have an interest in taking your Python skills to the next level.

Why use Python for web development?

Coding in Python is simple, and a student with no prior knowledge can easily understand a line of code and its use - this means with only the basics, you can comfortably write a complete program.

Python has a great number of frameworks and tools to get you up and going fast with web development.

It's a great match - a powerful language with a great range of tools that you can put to use quickly.

Why choose this course?

  • You will be able to learn and understand how to design and implement RESTful API’s via the Flask framework.

  • Ever wanted to know what a NoSQL database is, and how to use one?  You'll learn how to do that as well, using Python.

  • And what is Docker, and what does it mean to "dockerize" your apps?  Yep, you guessed it, you will learn that as well in this course.

  • You'll even learn how to build a machine learning API using TensorFlow for image recognition.

  • Another hot topic is DevOps, and you will learn about that and go through the process of deploying a RESTful API on an Amazon EC2 instance.

  • In short, this course is designed to take your basic Python skills and take you to the next level in the shortest period of time.

What topics are covered in this course?

Understanding the Basics of the Python Flask Framework

Understanding and Implementing a  REST API

Docker

MongoDB

Project: Database as a Service Restful API

Project: Building a Restful API for similarity check using Natural Language Processing

Project: Building an Image Recognition Restful API using Tensorflow and Deep Learning

Project: Building a Restful API to Handle Bank Transactions

Deploying Restful API into an AWS EC2 Instance

You'll come away with a firm understanding of how all the pieces work individually, and more importantly how they fit together.

This really is an all in one course to get you up to speed with these topics, fast.

I have learned a lot on this course and it will serve me well in the future. The content was delivered in a logical manner, there were a few hiccups which were a little unsettling when the lecturer made mistakes, mumbled for a minute and then proceeded to correct them quickly and I had to go over the videos several times before I could work out what he had done wrong and how he corrected the mistake. Some of the lectures had been corrected to update the syntax (insert became insert_one and update became update_one) but these changes were not corrected in later lectures. On the whole, I have enjoyed this course and I have learned a great deal - it will be very useful to me. Thank you.

This course provides a wonderful introduction of REST APIs, both the theory and the usage. We can learn the full picture of a deployable AI application (spacy for NLP, tensorflow for CV), with backend support by flask and MongoDB, containerization by Docker, and cloud deployment by AWS EC2. Such engineering skills are sometimes a machine learning/data science practitioner lacks to implement a real-world project. I think this course cannot teach you the whole tech stack of the modern MLOps practices that you need other courses to cover, but it is a great starting point that provides you an end-to-end framework that you can easily transfer to your project to "embed" your algorithm/model inside a software that only exposes the API to the users. I also suggest learning Swagger and OpenAPI, or FastAPI, if you want to enhance the quality of your API documentation.

The course is an absolute bang for the buck. Simply amazing! El Farouk is probably the best instructor I've encountered. His detailed explanations really helped me understand how all the different elements of this course come together. Thank you El Farouk for this, I look forward to other courses of yours.

Great course to learn the basics for building API's with Flask. Also you'll learn the basics of MongoDB, build an API with a ML tensorflow model. I hope this course get new sections like documenting your API's with swagger and/or good coding practices for developing API's with Flask, and get them secure.

This course is exactly what it says it is. If you know python this is for you. It's comprehensive, teaches you multiple technologies interaction with Python and really helps you get around and get things done. Though not for people looking for detailed usage, but if one needs a quick intro and increase their power with Python implementation this is it and its great. All of the most used technologies in one course.

It was great learning experience. But course material is very old and many part of code required to update. In course everything is done on linux hosted on virtual box I did code along with windows system. I setup docker engine on my windows system and was running docker image from power shell. Compare to Installation steps of tutorials are very simple now. Just setting up docker engine everything working fine. Course material must be update now.

This course is the perfect course for me because i learnt how to build and do alot of things, The course was really explained in details. I built projects learnt about APIS, Deploying APIS, Docker, python(flask), learnt about mongo DB, AWS, Natural language processing and Tensorflow , Sincerely i am happy that i learnt all these. Thank you for this course

Here is my latest review: There are a few things that maybe aren't 100% perfect in the course content when it comes to configuration, i.e. that you may have to google and check stack overflow, but its pretty rare and I actually believe being forced to do this really builds your programming skills. I was able to easily just find what i needed either in FAQ or in google, So now I am somewhat grateful :) I feel my skills are better now. Considering how much he actually covers when he walks you through this extremely extensive course, I'm pretty amazed at how much I've learned. Here was my first review: it was fine but we had to figure out to install flask with a different command. also for some reason I had to remake my virtual image many times because flask kept crashing . Then I finally had it working in the last one. not sure why but I allocated more ram than he suggested when I made my last image.

This was a good course to get you going with Docker and APIs. I like the use of MongoDb as a way to build out the backend. Working with Postman was a good way to see how things work. As a more advanced version, it would have been nice to focus on a functional app with web forms, etc. That would be for an expanded version of the course. There were some key pieces of code that were left out of the sessions that caused some headaches for me (and others as noticed in the Q&A).

Awesome experience. Learned not just various horizontal concepts like Docker, Mongo, Restful but also vertical in-depth learning. Instructor is well-informed with all developments. Best part was explanation of concepts with pen-paper, nothing can beat this + all through typing the code all along. Not just walking through the pre-written code.
