Course Description

With all of the various javascript libraries and frameworks, you might be a little bit confused as to where to begin. Right now, the three powerhouses in the javascript world are React, Angular and Vue.js.

Sometimes, the best course of action is to make up your own mind based on your own experiences.

And that's exactly what this course will aim to do. We're going to design and develop a single app in React, Angular and Vue.js.

The goal here is to help you determine which workflow you like best based on your own needs and preferences.

The following is the basic flow of what we're going to learn in React, Angular, and Vue.js:

  • Installing & Getting Started with a Project
  • Component Structure
  • Templating
  • Styling
  • Integrating CSS Frameworks
  • Working with API's

This will help you get a solid start with each of these javascript technologies, to the point at which you will walk away with your own opinions.

So, if you're ready to learn, let's get started!

Great course. I've checked a few of your videos on YouTube and when I realized you where the tutor of this course. I was glad, as you do go into the details of each step and explain them well. This for me helps understand parts more. I'm going to go back over this course but follow step by step. I already had React installed due to a project that I couldn't do, but I feel with the tutorial within this. It makes me understand how to get set up, but I'm even more keen to see Vue and Angular for myself to understand programming in those languages.

Exactly what I was looking for. Learning a new library / framework is an undertaking, so I wanted to make sure I made an educated decision. As Gary mentions in the videos, relying on articles online isn't hugely helpful because people tend to be convinced their opinion is the correct one, and nothing compares to working with the code yourself. Having completed the course I now feel like I have an idea of what's involved in each and I'm excited to start learning more! I also found the project design section hugely valuable, and something I didn't know I needed in my life until I watched it. Thanks Gary!

I know this is a free course, and it's got some great content to getting started with these javascript libraries, but it's been a little bit frustrating that the content is already so outdated and there are no links provided, or more explanation on how to troubleshoot things if they don't work for you. At least, this course has given me a window in a quick way on how these technologies work, but at the time of this review, many of the links or commands the instructor gives are deprecated so sometimes they don't work. Also, there's very little explanation about certain concepts or why do you use or install certain plugins, or how to deploy the site once it's ready. I was planning on leaving a better review because I've definitely learned some valuable things and I won't take it for granted, but I wish there was at least a way to message the instructor to provide some input or ask him more specific questions or updates about certain things. Overall, it's a good course, (probably really good back in 2017), you can learn some useful information for sure, but if you're just getting started with javascript and programming be prepared to troubleshoot and do some research and ask questions at online forums to be able to figure some things out.

I really enjoyed this course. I learned a great deal about the three compared frameworks, and found the comparisons fair and helpful. The one problem I had was the amount of time spent in Adobe XD mocking up the project. While I understand the role the mock-up played in the course, it's also not something that should have occupied more than a quarter of the course. Yes, it's a free course, and I understand that, but I can't even use Adobe XD to follow along due to my operating system. The instructor is great. Very knowledgeable, very well spoken for the most part. And he presented the information clearly and well. I would have appreciated more information on the syntax of the various frameworks when it came time to code, but that's my preference. Overall, the course is fantastic, and for the price, can't be beaten. It helped me decide what to focus on to start with JavaScript frameworks.

The course itself is really great. It touches different aspects of web development in general (Node, npm, CSS framework, etc) with good explanations at a reasonable speed. Definitely worth for people with little/none programming experience. I had however hoped to go a bit more deeper into the differences. In my opinion there was to much focus on the visual part rather than the actual frameworks.

Course is very good for comparing the workflows for each of the three frameworks, instructor is very clear and moves quickly, some of the material is out of date (for example, the Bulma header class names don't work and I had to manually fix them). The course also doesn't go into comparing features from each framework; it is strictly comparing workflows for building a simple single page application.

By Oleksandr Kovalov on 10/7/2018

That was truly amazing. From the design mockup to the working apps within 3 hours, keeping all the details in place and pointing to all the important points in the code as well as differences among those libraries and a framework, that could've been only done by a Master., and that all was for free. I don't know how else I could 've expressed my appreciations.. Seriously. THAT WAS GREAT. Thank you so much Gary! Will definitely subscribe to your channel and add your web-site to my bookmarks list. Thank you again!

One of the best courses I have taken on Udemy. To actual design the layout first using XD and referring to the Bulma css framework was genius and put's the whole package into context! Some of the content did not work as was older syntax, so you need to be able to know how to update, or at least use stackoverflow to supplememnt your learning

--- This course is very good, it goes straight to the point and with a real example. It also includes an introduction to Adobe XD and Bulma, enough for those who do not know about them to start considering them. The only thing that would make it better is to give a little more detail in the React Routing part, because for those who do not know the framework it is easy to get lost.

Straight to the point teaching. A great class concept building a simple app across three JS libraries for evaluation. Suggestions: 1) Updating the top bar nav section lecture for deprecated tags in Bulma Framework 2) An production build with deploy into a node.js app hosted on a server (ex. digital ocean or Heroku) would be a great touch, but not critical to scope of course. Lots of valuable take aways in your course. Nice Work! Thanks!
