Wow! I am blown away by what I managed to achieve in this course! When I started, I did not believe that I would be able to get anything close to the instructor's final illustration, but with her step-by-step approach, my final artwork looks pretty damn good! Such simple techniques really, but with lots of patience, attention to detail and plenty of time, it all comes together nicely to make a very slick and professional looking artwork. I'm looking forward to using the techniques I learned in my own projects.

This course was really good. I am just transitioning from beginner to intermediate in Affinity Design. I did not attemt to replicate the lesson yet, but I learned so much just by watching!! I feel I am not quite there in skill to follow along precisely, but just by watching took my abilities and understanding of the program to the next level. I practiced some of the concepts learned on a logo I have been working on and it really brought it up a notch! I am so super excited to practice the concepts learned in this video more! This was just what I needed to boost me to the next level. It made me see what basic principals I need to brush up on as well as the amazing concepts I am just breaking into. Thank you!

This is an outstanding course for anyone on their vector drawing journey. Not only are there great tips on drawing techniques but getting the most out of your software and improving the workflow are covered extensively. I would recommend this course for any intermediate, or experienced vector artist, wishing to add more to their current skills and further their capabilities.

I took this course as an out-and-out beginner - with no design or artistic background - and wilfully disregarded Isobel’s advice that the course was not for beginners. It took a long time but the teaching was excellent and with patience I finally completed a drawing that I'm proud of. I would love to know how long an expert like Isabel would take to complete something like this. For sure it would be much less than the year it took me! (at maybe an hour a week) So for those wondering if they can do this course, the answer in my view is that anyone can, but it'll take a lot of hours. They're fun hours and you'll learn a lot about using Affinity Designer along the way. Apart from knowing in advance about the time needed to complete this course, I would have liked a touch more help about what what level of detail it is okay to leave out - sometimes I'd get carried away at high magnification only to realise that nothing that I'd drawn was at all visible at a reasonable scale. Experience I guess. Overall: I recommend anyone who's interested in learning Affinity Designer or how to make realistic drawings to take this course, provided you have enough time and patience. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Isabel, what a design guru she is. When I first came across Affinity Designer, I really felt like a monkey trying to open a suitcase. Everything was a big mystery to me but through this course I was able to learn a lot in such a short space of time - from color balance, proportion, good stroke management, Boolean operations and much more. This course is steadily paced and the instructions are concise too. Did I mention how clear the sound is? At the same time, the way Isabel delivers this course presents plenty of opportunities to work through. She explains thoroughly but also leaves just enough for students to find out some things for themselves. I think such a technique is perfect for amateurs like me. Also, she is very responsive to questions and is always polite. I highly recommend this course. Thank you Isabel, I consider myself truly blessed to have come across your material.

I really enjoyed the class! I learned a lot and can see I have a lot of habits to form to keep layers straight and organized. I also see I need to get more disiplined in creating more layers on a object instead of just using the gradiant tool. I will practice and watch this again in a week or so. Fantastic course! I went into this not knowing how to create this level of artwork and have come out of it having produced something I’m really proud of - and have picked up lots of confidence with tools and techniques along the way. I love how Isabel starts by showing you techniques in detail and then as the course progresses, allows you to experiment for yourself and find your own ways to create elements using what you have learned. The course is worth every penny!

The course is "3hr 26min" but you will rewind a lot! I mean that as a positive. In a way that's a better teaching tool than baby steps because you do need to develop your own ability to follow and copy. That said it's a very thorough process and highly detailed. If you stick it out and give yourself time and patience you'll be very happy with the results

i'm probably not experienced enough I am getting by but the speed tweaking is a bit disappointing

I've watched the video lessons all the way through before starting over and following along with the software. The content is precisely what I was hoping for, but in some places it's not always clear what is happening especially when thinking of a solution to an issue is done on the fly, but I hope this will become clearer when I'm using the software at the same time.
