Can not understand the instructor due to his accent.

Rating: 5.0 out of 5 I've been wanting to learn more about git since others I work with have been advocating its use. I had started using git, but was using it the same as any other version control system until I get this course. The instructor does an excellent job of explaining the underlying workings of git and why certain practices are more common with git than other version control systems. They also discuss the different "architectures" that could be used for teams using git, and ways to control what is checked in where. I believe my use of git for version control has improved since I get this course.

I'm really satisfied with this course. In my opinion, it's good for begginners for building the foundation needed to use git and also learning more about it in the future. Mainly the course focuses on using command line. Pros: - No jumping to difficult concepts while learning simple ones - Good coherence and integrity of given information - Easy to repeat examples - Nice Q&A Cons: - I think the accent is wierd, however I had no problem understanding the speech I recommend to take notes, as the commands are easy to forget in the beginning

I’ve been using git for a while. This Git and GitHub Course definitely gave me more confidence in my day to day work. The instructor gave detailed explanation of git operations from beginning to advanced levels. For example, the git rebase operation, this course not only gives you the step by step instructions, it also explains what the git output tell you, why you are at this stage, options to take next steps. I like technical course that not only give you instructions, but also explains the logic behind it. The instructor did a very good job at explaining concepts. I highly recommend this course.

An excellent course! It's very easy to find help online for simple 'git' tasks. It's even easy to get help online to build a nice 'git' workflow. This course is not for that purpose... This course is an excellent dive into how git works under the hood. It's so much more than a how-to internet guide. It seeks to impart real knowledge. It gave me the knowledge I needed to solve some issues that the internet guides only made worse. It gave me the knowledge I needed to understand the core of the issues, work back through them carefully and prevent them from ever happening again. If you've worked with a forking model where rebasing happens often you can understand how git can be a pain. This course has given me so many reasons to hold git high above all other version control systems.

I had never seen Git before installing the software on a Mac-book Pro but I was committing my first update within a few painless hours through the Terminal. The visual aids are a great way to get the conceptual aspects of a version control system like Git, and the course shows actual Git commands with terminal responses so you could easily correlate: what you want to do, what commands you need to enter (and why), and what Git should reply back with. This is an easy recommendation.

I picked up this course because my company is making the switch from ClearCase to Git and I wanted to get up-to-speed on the new tool. I was very satisfied with the level of detail and after following this course, I think I have reached a level I might have only gotten to after several years of use and ad hoc referral to the online manual. The instructor do a great job of introducing new concepts. The depth of coverage is appropriate, with no essentials left glazed over and no unnecessary exhaustive coverage of extraneous edge-case sub features best left for the online documentation.

I've been using git for a while, but decided when I started needing to explain it to new hires/interns that it was time to understand what was going on for real. As with this course. I got a good overview and sufficient detail to feel confident as a user. The example that runs throughout was very useful for getting used to commands I wasn't comfortable with before. Highly recommend to anyone who uses git for source control and Github as a git hosting server.

Amazing Git & Github course, Included other things beyond Git e.g. how to write a commit message, when and why you should commit, etc. These are not directly related to Git itself but these are useful practical advice. I suppose if you are working in a software team, most of these would have been communicated to you. But since I am working alone, I really appreciated these practical advice and hints.

I kept thrashing about trying to use GitHub without learning about git. I kept getting stuck and confused. That no longer happens after I take this course. It has not turned me into a git guru (nor a github guru neither) but I am no longer incompetent; I can be productive without stumbling on the basic tools. The tutorial is also a pleasure to follow which is rare with technical course.
