Rob Percival

Hi! I'm Rob. I have a degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University and you might call me a bit of coding geek.
After building websites for friends and family for fun, I soon learned that web development was a very lucrative career choice. I gave up my successful (and sometimes stressful) job as a teacher to work part time and today, couldn't be happier.
I'm passionate about teaching kids to code, so every summer I run Code School in the beautiful city of Cambridge. I also run the popular web hosting and design service, Eco Web Hosting which leaves me free to share my secrets with people like you.
You wouldn't believe the freedom that being a web developer offers. Sign up and find out for yourself why so many people are taking and recommending this course. I genuinely believe it's the best on the market and if you don't agree, I'll happily refund your money.
Sign up to my courses and join me in this amazing adventure today. Best-selling Udemy instructor Rob Percival wants to revolutionize the way people learn to code by making it simple, logical, fun and, above all, accessible. But as just one man, Rob couldn't create all the courses his students - more than half a million of them - wanted.
That's why Rob created Codestars. Together, the instructors that make up the Codestars team create courses on all the topics that students want to learn in the way that students want to learn them: courses that ar

Awesome course and Rob is a wonderful teacher. His delivery and methodology left me feeling encouraged and capable as he didn't use too much jargon or get too caught in the weeds and details. It was informative, instructive, and practical. The only thing I wish it had was a section on building/modifying Wordpress templates. For such a heavy php section, it was kind of a miss not to include that. Otherwise, fantastic course and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get a start in web development, or just "coding" in general!

This course is really great! I used to be a front end developer but now I am ready to be a full-stack developer after acquiring new knowledge here. This is a huge step for becoming a web developer! Never stop learning, Happy Coding =)

The course has been created with a lot of thought and planning. Each topic related to the one before. Rob not only teaches he shows on this course how to google the information needed, which I've been doing and I've learnt a lot from this method of teaching. I've nearly finished the course and I feel very confident to send my CV to potential empolyers. Thanks for an excellent course. Rayaa

I'm an IT college student, and Rob basically saved my life! He is the best teacher ever. This course is amazing! It's logical (he majored in Mathematics!) and easy to understand. I knew nothing at all about Web Programming and after I took this course I can develop web in Front End and Back End! You also get amazing freebies like free one-year web hosting, certifications, a domain, bootstrap themes, a book, and many more! So, to reviews readers, what are you waiting for? I can guarantee you WON'T regret buying this course! Mr. Rob, you are a Saint to me! Thank you very much, "Terima kasih banyak" and merci beaucoup!

Rob is a good instructor who explains the topics well and moves at a good pace to follow. The course is laid out with a nice path from start to finish. I do recommend practicing the topics several times to get a good understanding of them. Overall I would recommend this course.

Overall the course is pretty good but some parts do seem a bit outdated and in my opinion, need to be updated. Despite this, I would still recommend the course to someone that is just starting out.

Rob is a fantastic teacher. I even miss his voice some days because it was so much part of my life for three months. This course is fantastic for beginners. I mean fantastic! Rob is a great teacher and coming from zero he taught me ALOT. You will learn so much here that you will end up educated enough not to give him five stars.I will go through this course one more time, and reassess my vote. The reason for four stars is that I am now stalling my project because I am left with more questions than answers. That is not directly the fault of Rob, more a pandora's box effect. Now that he has shared this info where to we go from here?I would 110% recommend this course. At the same time with data protection and internet security i do not expect this help from Rob in a beginners course. In his "Where to go from here" section, i would at least expect more than 'practice makes perfect. Just start building websites' solution and for him to go more detailed this is really the next step.I would also like a MVP summary in the end of the twitter project so we can accurately build upon this in the future. I have only found beginner youtube videos and massively advance Udemy courses. Yet at the end of this course we are in between.Sorry Rob, I wish I could give you the extra star. but one star deducted because I am really really lost at the moment. I want to move forward but go raw as you taught it or use frameworks, .net or mysql pfff I am really lost now. Conclusion great learning method ending at a point where you needed more help than starting :/

This is not a course where you will walk out of here with much functional knowledge, because they really don't explain core concepts very well at all. Like the HTML/CSS sections were absurdly basic and avoided semantic HTML entirely, and only a few minutes on Flexbox which IMO is worth a lengthy update. [For an extremely in depth beginner-to-intermediate view of HTML/CSS I recommend Todd McLeod's course]. The final projects in all these sections were a bit silly considering that most of this stuff wasn't taught in a meaningful way. The "app" section was pretty weak and the decision to spend like the better part of an hour on Canvas was a bit baffling. The Python section, while I understand why it was included, was scattered and unhelpful and will not teach you python. There was also a little too much "let's have a Google" for me... I understand that he's making the point that even professionals have to Google stuff (and this is an important point) but these are basic things and when we're paying money for a course it would be cool to just have the concepts explained at the front rather than going to Stack Overflow and just mass-copying stuff out of replies with a cursory explanation of it afterwards. The value of this course IMO is that it shows a very broad overview of what the pieces are that compose web development, and how they fit together. It made me laugh when he would say "Now you have the skills to recreate any website in existence" but I will give them credit for having more breadth of content and choosing final projects that tie things together, even if you're just watching him work through it. Although in the live coding videos he just does lots of stuff without truly defining what these things are, which is very frustrating. They discussed FTP functionality and getting your hosting packages up, which is extremely useful. They are also impressively responsive in the questions section.Anyway this is a VERY long course, and you won't walk out of here as a web developer by any means, but you'll have a greater understanding of what the pieces are and how they fit together. From there you'll have a good idea of what feels intuitive to you and what avenue you may want to pursue.

Gives a nice overview of most of what is involved in web-development, I really enjoyed the projects where you get a lot of freedom and need to figure stuff out on your own. Some content seems old and not used anymore and I feel I will need a lot more in dept learning after this course to really master web-development.But all in all a good course!

Great course for beginners. Everything is explained well and Rob takes his time to go over all the details. Thanks for a great course!
